Americana Termite Company

I couldn’t believe how rude two of these guys were!
Ok, so I don’t even think our building has termites but one of the condo owners decided to have this company come and do some work on our place (orange oil and replacing boards etc)…
One of the guys was very personable and nice and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about him. It’s too bad that a couple of these guys were NOT very nice to me and are probably the ones giving the company a bad name.
First, nobody offered to remove their shoes when they came into my home. My cleaning lady had just finished washing my kitchen floor and I also have a white rug that these guys walked across without even asking if their shoes were ok to keep on.
Then the next day the guys were up on a lift replacing a board (blocking our garage door… Not an issue until I needed to leave in my car to put my baby to sleep.). I walked around to let them know I would be opening my garage door and would need to leave. (I didn’t want the door to scare them when they were up so high.). They said they would be a few more minutes so I walked back around to get back inside but by then there was a man on a ladder blocking my back patio door. He also said he would just be a few minutes, but I ended up not being able to get back inside my house for over 25 minutes!
So I stood outside in my driveway with my baby in my arms while the guys loudly drilled and dropped pieces of wood from way up high and would yell «heads up!» and they landed too darn close to us for my liking. I honestly couldn’t believe that was happening.
Finally, once they let me into my garage I started to put my daughter in the car when I heard one of the guys (who couldn’t see me) yell, «come on man, what the „f“ is taking so long» and the other guy (who COULD see me) yelled back at him that I was «just buckling in the baby»…
–Really? How rude can somebody be! I just stood there for half an hour waiting for them to finish dropping wood beside me and they couldn’t wait four minutes for me to put my baby’s seatbelt on so that I could leave so she could go to sleep?
I actually took a video on my phone of them dropping the wood because I was so shocked they would do that knowing I was stuck outside. I was very patient and cooperative with them despite how rude they were.
Hopefully they will improve in these areas or somebody is definitely going to get really pissed off, and somebody may also get hurt.

This Company and the Owner are probably the worst example of customer service. Last year, this guy shows up all smiles at our home when trying to get the job. He even goes so far as to do some cheesy lame presentation with really bad marketing materials (Probably from vista print) and tells us why he is the best and all the other companies are rubbish. He tells me the are the ONLY company to use real orange oil and they stand behind their work. We later find out this is NOT TRUE!
So, unluckily, we chose this fool and almost immediately problems started after the paperwork was signed. He started saying everything was an up charge for this wood work and this repair. I reminded them that he had surveyed the property before hand and even marked the areas for repair but the guy just starts screaming at me. I tried to nicely calm him down then he calls me a «Punk» because i think I am better than him and because I have a college degree. He then tells me he was a high school teacher to «punks» like me. I had to contain myself from not ripping this guys head off when I saw him… But we just wanted to get the place termited, repaired and these low-life’s out of our area.
The very best part was that this knucklehead decides to send me a bill with some bogus charges and when I call him on it he threatens me with a lawsuit if I don’t pay for the items listed in his addendum. There is so much more to this story but suffice it to say that you need to STAY AWAY fro this company and this douche.

I initially found this company on another website, where it had several good reviews. If I had come here first, I might not have used them. Well, I am happy that I did end up using them.
I was looking for a company that did eco-​friendly treatment for termites in connection with a sale of a home. I called several places about this. When I spoke with Gary, I believe he said he was the owner, he was extremely friendly and helpful. He sent out an inspector to look at the property to see if they could do the job for us. I was very pleased when they inspected the property and told me that they could use eco-​friendly treatment on the home. The garage, however needed chemical treatment. They gave us a two year warranty on the work and charged a reasonable price. I will definitely use them again for other properties.

I had my dad’s house treated with orange oil in November, and my father happened to notice that there were termites in the same area and asked me to call Americana Termite to have them come back out to re-​treat the area. Last Wednesday, Gary’s son Neil arrived at my father’s house to re-​examine the treated area. He went above and beyond what was necessary to ensure that the termites would be gone for good. He did such a great job, and my father is beyond happy with the service he received. The orange smell is still wafting through his house nearly a week later. Neil made sure that my father understood the way the orange oil worked and was articulate in doing so. He was very thorough and my father would recommend Americana Termite for their orange oil treatment! They were very satisfactory with their work.

Total scam of a company. I had them come out about three years ago and they charged almost $ 3000 for a 5500sqft home and a yearly fee of $ 500. In the past three years they have treated the same places several times and the termites always come back, drilling holes in places and shooting their junk orange oil to drip all over the exterior of the house. This required me to hire a painter to repair their issues every time to make the home presentable. Their yearly inspections never found anything, it was always ME finding the termites and calling them!
The worst part was when they sent someone out to the house that was SOOO FAT he could not fit into the attic which has a 30×30 inch opening and had to have someone else come out a few days later.
When I would call them it was two or three weeks before they would show up.
The last straw was when they sent me a bill for the new year with a PAST DUE stamp on it claiming they would take me to collections if i didn’t pay ASAP, when they had done nothing at all to deserve the money for the year. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!

I found this in the filtered reviews and don’t understand why it’s not factored into the overall rating. Especially since it’s quite accurate.
7÷2÷2009 As a Realtor, I have over a decade of experience in dealing with termite companies. I can’t say that I have had a worse experience with any company than I had with these guys. The owner, Gary, is as big a hothead as I have dealt with in my years in business. After not following up with escrow about his bill for four months, he decided it was time to sue me and the escrow company rather than the previous property owner who actually benefited from the work.
If you are in the market for a termite company, do not even think about using these guys. There are a great many reputable companies that would be happy to help you without being insufferable tools!
My only addition would be:
ORANGE OIL DOES NOT WORK!!! Our house has more termites now than it did before this «treatment» in March and are currently trying to get the structural pest board involved.
Do not use this company, almost any other would be better!
