McDaniels Do It Center

My wife and I have had mostly good experiences here. I bought a gas trimmer here, and it was subsequently stolen out of my garage by some a-​hole a year or so ago, so when I got my insurance money I went back to buy another one. Ron, the sales person who helped me recommended that we report the stolen item’s serial number so that it can be flagged if it ever comes in for maintenance. I hadn’t thought of that, and was appreciative that he took the time to run it down for me. I haven’t heard anything about it turning up, but glad to know that a local place cares about individual customers. The biggest complaint I have about McDaniels is that their store brand products are generally poor quality. I bought some sprinklers and hoses that turned out to be garbage in less than one season, so I was a little bummed out – I guess you get what you pay for. Other than that, the staff is always really nice and helpful, and they generally have a decent garden selection when the time is right. We still like going here when we don’t feel like driving all the way to Home Depot or Lowe’s.

If you are guy looking for a hardware store that has the most complete inventory of nuts and bolts, this is your store. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

They’ll have it and there will be someone with some first hand experience to offer advice too. The prices are higher than Home Depot or lowes.
5 stars for hardware and fasteners. They have a better variety — sizes, grades, types — and they make it easy to buy a few or a lot.
4 stars for electrical. They have one or two of everything — but sometimes I need three.
3 stars for paint. The paint gal must have had a bad day — wasn’t interested in answering questions or smiling. Paint was not great but the stain was great.
Overall 4 stars. I value the service and that it is locally owned — so I make the trip and pay a little more.

Went to return item never used. Cashier who was friendly called for authorization. Woman came and told me the 90 day policy and refused to return or exchange/​store credit. I had no problem returning anything there before and I proceeded to tell her that Home Depot, Lowe’s gives store credit. She just was not interested to hear any of it. Does not seem to care about repeat business.
No reason to go to McDaniel’s anymore.

My experience with the staff and products at McDaniel’s Do-​It Center has always been exceptional. They carry many hard to find items and products that you can’t find at the mega-​hardware stores like Lowe’s or Home depot. Just today I was looking for a water-​based laminate adhesive, for applying Formica, and they not only carried it, but asked if I wanted it in a quart or pint size. The folks at Lowe’s were not even aware that the product existed.

This hardware store still maintains that local, non box store, kind of feel. The employees are always helpful. Check out is always quick. And they always seem to have exactly what I’m looking for. For example I recently went in there because the handle assembly broke on one of the toilets in my home. I was helped immediately, and since I hadn’t fixed a toilet in many, many, years I asked for a tutorial. She gave me the run down and once home I had the toilet fixed within minutes following the directions she gave me. A great local business that I highly reccomend.

This is the best hardware store– bar none! The staff is friendly and super helpful! We recently got a great deal on a barbecue, Theresa– «T», offered great customer service, set up delivery, follow up phone call and made sure we had all of the things we needed. Delivery day came– the guys were great even carrying barbecue to back deck (husband injured). we put the unit together and found we were missing one cotter pin. I was headed back to the store when Tyler called to tell me, he had the missing cotter pin, he had put it in his picket to ensure it didn’t get lost. (I never mind going back to this store– they have everything,) I picked up the pin and thanked them. I would have never gotten the kind, thoughtful assistance from any of the big box stores. Although things didn’t go perfectly– I could’nt have asked for more, super people, kind, helpful, and perfectly neighborhood hardware store!

Sometimes I find myself wandering the hardware store searching for something. This is the first hardware store I’ve gone to where the staff seems like they are aware of their customers. At most stores, I find myself searching for someone to help me, but every time I’ve gone into this store someone asks me if they can help me. It’s amazing. And sometimes I don’t even realize I need advice until they ask me.

This is the first place to go for most anything to do with your home projects
They have a knowledgeable staff and they can help you get projects started.
Big supporters if the locals as well with a lot of region items.

Good service, not as great a selection as with a big box store, but they’ve got the main things covered, and they have some brands that Home Depot or Lowe’s do not have. I wish I lived closer to this store, or I would shop here more often. Of note, I was impressed with the hunting/​gun accessories section here, in the back. First store in Washington state that I had found that carried Ballistol.

I so prefer McDaniels to a huge hardware store like Home Depot. They have everything I need and they know where all of it is. I have always been greeted by the friendliest people and I feel like I am in a place that is a real part of the community, not a huge corporate entity. My fave is the plants. I have scored the healthiest, most beautiful plants over the years at really great prices.

I value my time so I go to the DoIt center. Prices are the same as the big box stores. Excellent service and people remember you and your kids names. They can special order just about anything.

Support your local teams, schools, businesses and people. That is what I think about when talking about «the old do it center» I have longed for a place where you can go and find any information needed for your household project. I am not afraid to say you would get that at any big box store. I have been there a number of times and each time have gotten great service. The owners are right there helping you out and answering all your questions. They support the local community why would you not support them.

Whenever I walk into McDaniels in Snohomish, someone always asks me if I need any help. If I am in a hurry, I tell them what I am looking for and they take me right to the product. If I want to browse, they let me do so. Great home town story, dedicated to customers service.

Excellent customer service and nice selection of goods, including some unique items. Support your local independent hardware store and say NO to the mega chain store!

This is the place to go if you have basic questions on home repairs/​gardening or basic house care!
I have had two outstanding experiences here, one is with their garden lead who helped me find the perfect annuals for my deck. She took the time to make sure I had everything I needed and fully understood all of my options. Her service lead to a $ 50 dollar sale, which 4 months later I still love.
The second was in electrical with «T», she is a wonderful lady who really knows her stuff. Although my purchase did not work out (returned it as I found a different model elsewhere) she was very knowledgeable about bathroom fans and took the time to listen. I greatly appreciate her help and will return to McDaniels because of these two outstanding employees. The cashiers are also friendly and efficent. I love the home-​town feel of this location and dont mind paying a little extra (there prices can be higher, but can also be average) for service that really cares when it comes to something as important as do-​it-​yourself home repairs.

As a non-​mechanically inclined person who worked at the front desk of a maintenance shop in town, I can’t tell you how much I came to appreciate McDaniels.
You’ll never walk in without being greeted quickly and offered help, and knowledgeable help at that. I have been known to come in with a random piece of hardware or a vague description of a part and have always come away successful.
Plus the place that makes a point of hiring local high school kids. Just plain cool.

I go here before any of the big box stores for hardware. The advice and knowledge you get here for plumbing, electrical, or paint is worth it alone. No kids guessing at what you are trying to do, if you know what I mean. The only downside is price. You will pay a little more at McDaniels but the advice is worth it.

For the location, the informed staff, friendliness, etc, EXCELLENT. They spent plenty of time trying to find the proper belt for an old riding mower and I am glad they did. Without complaints, they kept store open additional 25minutes for just myself to finish finding the part I needed and double-​checking. Its been a lot if years since I’ve been into McDaniels, but it is as good as I remember it being 15+years ago!
Any time I can avoid going to bLOWE’S or Home Depot, i try to find places like this.
