Moose Ridge Golf Course

Bought a round of much-​needed golf for my husband Saturday so he’d take a break from work. It’s his busy season. I know he loves this course so I was going to buy the rounds online but he just said he’d take care of it himself.
Here was his report:
«So I played golf last Saturday at Moose Ridge. Checked in at pro shop and the guy says that will be $ 45 (owner’s son). I said ‘I played here 2 weeks ago and it was $ 37, did you give me the senior discount?’
„We don’t have discounts on weekends, you must have booked on Golfer​.com“
„No, we called and made tee time, and you made us give a credit card to hold the tee time, and it was a Saturday.“
„Well, it’s still $ 45“ he said.
I paid the $ 45.
I go outside and my golf partner arrives and goes in and pays. He comes out and I complain about the $ 45, and he says he paid $ 47! He’s 5 years younger than I am and not a senior.
I’m so done with these guys.»

One of my favorite golf courses in the area, challenging yet non gimmicky. Staff was great, contrary to some other posts I’ve read about the course. Pace of play was 4 hours exactly, teed off 2:00 on a warm Sunday.

Pros: Beautiful course with excellent greens.
Cons: Designed for slow play… in the middle of nowhere… only one water stop per nine… too difficult for anyone with a double-​digit handicap, which also contributes to slow play.
Unless you are playing here on a weekday with a Group Golfer cert, think twice or you are looking at an expensive 5+ hour round. Inferior to Lyon Oaks in every way.

To The Point:
1) Huge person checking in golfers was more interested in his own swing than checking me in. Another golfer asked him to take of me before continuing the conversation. Check in gorilla acted upset.
2) Pregnant cart girl almost smashes into me going around corner. Did not stop — kept flying by. Called office, no callback.
3) Ranger spent 45 minutes in bushes looking for golf balls. Was more interested in Pro V’s than doing his job.
4) Mentioned issues to kid behind counter — he did not take his eyes off Tiger game to acknowledge me.
5) Another employee child responded to my comments and complaints with «that’s how we roll here!»
The course is beautiful, the staff is the rudest, immature not customer driven slackers I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.
ADVICE: FIRE THEM ALL AND START OVER!!!

I have played golf for 35 years. This is by far the worst golf experience ever. We played 15 holes in less in 4 hours but were badgered by the staff for playing slow. We just quit and walked off. I would never ever play here again nor recommend this place to my worst enemies. What a waste of time and gas. This staff were the rudest people I’ve ever encountered in the service business.

Beautiful course, but a little overpriced especially when you’ve got Cattails GC down the road for a much better price.
The not-​so-​great value, combined with the fact that they served me a turkey wrap that was over a week old (date made is on the styrofoam container), brought this down a star.

I have real mixed feelings about this place, but I really cannot recommend it to anyone, and urge you to go somewhere else.
First the good part: it is a beautiful course, and quite challenging. The greens are fast, there are some holes with elevation changes, and you need to be on top of your game to score well.
Now for the bad part:
–Expensive for what you get
–Snooty employees
–Very slow pace of play! This is entirely their fault: there are holes where a 6 inch asphalt wall keeps you from leaving the path. So you can only guess your yardage, and take 2 clubs with you. But depending on your lie, the actual yardage, you might need another club, which means a trip back to the cart. And you can’t search for a ball the guy playing with us sliced, and we had to spend forever helping him search… only to have to wait for him to go back to the cart and get the right club. Grr.
–There are a number of blind tee shots (and one blind approach to a green)… which causes a long time to search for golf balls.
–We only saw one «ranger» all day, and he did NOTHING to help with pace of play, nothing to be helpful. He was useless.
–We came as a twosome, and they made us join up with someone who was terrible. But as bad and slow as he was, we were still waiting on the group in front of us! 5 hours and 45 minutes is not good golf!
–The hole locations were set up to be as tricky as possible. For example, not on the flat part, but on the slope so that if you missed the hole at all, its going to roll 6 feet away. This isn’t putt-​putt! I was almost expecting a windmill guarding a hole the way they had them set up.
If you slow golf, rude employees and high prices, this is the place for you! With so many wonderful golf courses in the area, I fail to see why anyone would ever want to play here.

The only reason I’m giving them a star is because it’s a beautiful course but I am very disappointed at the way we were treated. We played here for a company outing with half experienced golfers half not. They never told us there was a time limit upon booking. Then we get started and the whole day we were rushed along to the point that people couldn’t even finish eating their hotdog lunches and others were forced to skip holes because they were quote «behind.» So all the sudden the company outing is being held to this very strict timeline. My colleagues were treated in ways that were not only disrespectful but rude. The day was hindered by bad customer service. I am very disappointed and we would never book here again. It may be beautiful but beauty isn’t everything. That’s for damn sure. Never again. Oh! And there’s poison ivy everywhere. Terrible.

Finally decided to eat @ Moose Ridge in order to taste their fish dinner. Delicious !! They use Oberon to lightly batter the fish. Enjoyed every forkful. AND it was AYCE on Fridays. They also have Perch & Whitefish in the AYCE specials. Our server, Malory, was attentive but not pushy. All the staff was friendly & helpful. The only down side was the fish pieces were very small & we had to continually ask for more. Didn’t matter as it was prepared & served piping hot. The tartar sauce is made on site & packed with flavor. You will enjoy the view while eating as Moose Ridge is nestled on treed acreage. We also noted that they serve Kobe filets & sirloins. Will try these next time.

What can i say a great course for a great price.
