History

Established in 1999.

Bark Park is the sister facility of Spring Creek Kennel and Cattery, a successful and busy dog and cat boarding facility just three blocks away in Spring Valley. Bark Park grew out of a need to fill Spring Creek’s customer’s additional needs. More options were added here that were not possible at Spring Creek because of the location and facility limitations. These options included:

I had to go out of town for a week for work, and though I had a friend who could stay with my dogs, I had to kennel one as she has been aggressive in the past so i have strict rules in the house, and didn’t want to risk an «incident» while I was gone. I chose Bark Park after a visit because they can accommodate dogs with «issues.»
Though certainly not high end accommodations Snow was well taken care of. Be prepared that dropping your dog off to stay in a kennel can be heart-​breaking, but she was fine. When I picked her up she was clean, happy, and was no worse for wear. The staff was great-​I got an update on her behavior which means they clearly take time to get to know the dogs. She also told me that Snow was having some digestive issues which I appreciated.
As a result I highly recommend Bark Park-​the facility is clean, well maintained, has caring staff AND it was VERY affordable. I will definitely bring her back!

We have used Bark Park several times and have always been pretty happy with our experience. However, this last time was an exception. All was fine until pickup. We were out of town and got to Bark Park for pickup just before 6pm when they closed. I was super stressed about getting there in time as there was heavy traffic.
When I arrived, it was very clear to me that the staff were annoyed that we got there right before closing. One of the women told me I was lucky I didn’t get there 5 minutes later because nobody would have been there, and the other woman was obviously irritated and eager to leave. Extremely poor customer service, and I will be looking for other options the next time we need to board our dog.

I’ve brought my dog here to board a handful of times. Sometimes for a few days, sometimes for a few weeks. He stays in the outdoor kennels because he does not get along well with others. Kim takes very good care of him and he’s in good spirits every time I pick him up. Very reasonably priced and open Sundays. Their sister kennel, Spring Creek Kennel & Cattery, has more spacious accommodations for cats, so if you have a cat check them first. I love my dog, but he is not my «fur baby» or «practice child». I have an actual child. He doesn’t need pedicures or massages or play dates or 24⁄7 butler service while I’m away. Point being, Bark Park provides a simple, clean boarding environment with a caring staff at an affordable rate. My dog is happy and so am I.

I’m pretty happy with this place. I have used them twice (soon to be three) to board my German Shepherds. Their first time they were here for 8 days, the second time it was for 4. I didn’t have to mention the discount for the free night when I tried them out for the first time. Everyone I have encountered there so far seems very friendly and good at handling my 80 lb dogs.
I have noticed that getting a hold of them is hard sometimes, but I usually call about half hour into their drop off/​pick up times and don’t have any issue getting through. I called today to board them a third time and they were able to book super last minute! (I drop them off tomorrow)
The place itself may not be the prettiest, but it’s kept clean. The kennels seem big enough for the dogs to walk around and play. They even allow both of my dogs to stay together which is great considering they’re pretty much attached to the hip. They also allow you to take toys for your dogs to play with so we always make sure to take our dogs’ favorite toys. Whenever I’ve picked them up, the dogs are clean and happy.
The biggest test this place passes is that when my dogs arrived the second time, they arrived wagging their tails. They’re usually pretty shy and they were super excited to be there– even wanted to run straight to the back. I feel like they would let me know if they felt distressed.
Yeah, it’s not one of those luxury cage free dog camps with doggy pools and endless playtime but it’s also only $ 20/​night. You can’t beat that. I’d continue leaving my dogs here.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE! I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD!
I took my dog, Charlie, here for three nights while we were out of town. I paid for him to be in the inside, community-​style dog area. He is a pointer and dane mix, who commonly gets confused for being pitbull upon first glance. When I dropped him off, they informed me that they «don’t allow pitbull dogs to be in areas with other dogs.» I informed them that he was NOT a pitbull, proven by the paperwork I brought, and they reluctantly let him be in the common area. The evening before pickup, I was finally able to get a hold of someone to ask how he was doing. They told me that earlier that morning, he had gotten into a «confrontation» with another dog, where he had «attacked» another dog and left a cut on the other dog’s ear. They stated that they were not there when it started, so they did not know what happened. So, they ASSUMED my dog was the aggressor, since he was the unharmed one. My dog is THE nicest dog ever, and has only ever had an issue when another dog attacked him. That was the end of the conversation, and I picked him up the next day.
When I picked him up, I asked to go with her to get him. Where was my dog? In the inside boarding for which I had paid? NOOOO. My dog was in the outdoor, pound-​style, chain-​link kennels. They had apparently decided that MY dog needed to be separated after the incident, but failed to inform me. SO, my INDOOR dog slept outside in 35 degree weather. This is unacceptable. My dog came home with a hoarse voice, so it is apparent he barked ALL day and night, attempting to communicate with him, as he did not know why he was locked up. He is also walking like his hips are sore, probably since he has dane hips and was left to sleep in the cold, or because he was caged up for hours.
The poor communication, poor management, and average facilities will make me never bring my dog there again, and tell everyone I know to avoid this place. Horrible, heinous, and negligent service.

I just got my dog back from an 11-​night stay here, and was very impressed with the entire experience. I booked his stay just a few days ahead of time, and even though it was during the holiday season, they were able to fit him in. I didn’t even have to mention the «give us a try deal» mentioned above– they automatically gave it to me when they found out I’d never been there before. They also don’t discriminate against ANY breed of dog (unlike some kennels around here), so I didn’t have to hide the fact that my dog is part pit bull.
When I arrived, I was a bit skeptical, as the place is practically under the highway and looks tiny from the front. But I was allowed to accompany Reef back to his run, and saw that they actually have a fair amount of room and that everything is kept very clean. All the (outdoor) runs are huge (4×12 feet) and have their own doghouses with bedding.
The rates are quite reasonable ($ 20 a night for a large dog), and they charge by the night, which means you don’t get charged for an extra day if you can’t pick up your pet at the crack of dawn. I sprang for the extra playtimes at $ 4 a session. Every employee I encountered was friendly, helpful, and seemed to be knowledgeable about dogs. Also, this was the first time I’ve ever had a dog come home from the kennel not smelling terrible and needing an immediate bath!
I highly recommend Bark Park and will take my dog there again in the future.

I’ve used Bark Park 6 times during my 2 year stay in San Diego (Navy) for my Rottie and my Pug… every time I drive the dogs to stay there for boarding, their tails go wagging like crazy!
Prices are good, place is always clean, and my dogs love it there. They have never had a problem, and always come home clean.
The location may throw you off a little, but it’s perfect location for me, and very secure.
I will always remember Bark Park as making me feel at ease when I have to leave my babes behind.
