Negative reviews are all unfounded.
The negative reviews I read gave me pause when selecting this place to get my dentistry needs met. But everything negative that I read I have found to be untrue.
As far as waiting time I initially went downstairs and stood in the line down there. It was no longer a wait than any other medical facility I have been to, including Scripps. I was told I needed to go straight to the dentistry section on the second floor and the process was very quick taking only about 20 minutes.
It did take them a little while to get me into the cubicle but the assistants were all very professional and the x-​ray technician knew exactly what to do with my problematic mouth.
Dr. Jordan, the dentist that I saw, understood my concerns and he addressed every one of them. mainly that I am not too thrilled about having more teeth extracted, I would prefer to have things repaired and he seemed to be both willing and able to do this.
Five years ago I went to horizon dentistry in El Cajon who informed me that I needed to have several crowns and root canals done, it turned out this was a lie. I also had the same thing happen with «Eddie Haddad» on Austin drive, it was as if they were too lazy to fix any of my existing fillings, preferring to crown everything. Especially since I was given a cavity-​free inspection 6 months earlier by Dr Weigle– when you suddenly «develop» a dozen new cavities in 6 months even though you brush daily, then somebody is lying.
This is a problem with dentists who take Medi-​Cal, some of them will attempt to get you to agree to more work than is actually needed for their pocketbooks benefit, not yours. This is not the case with family health care centers.
And in fact, in this one visit they determined a course of treatment and scheduled me for five weekly visits in a row — and I’m very pleased with that.
I highly recommend the office on Jamacha Road for anybody who is concerned about Denti-​Cal dentists, these people will do only what is needed– not anything more.
It has been a long time since I had a trustworthy dentist.

First time here for dentist for my kids. Really nice … I was in a rush… Coming from work. Picked up kids from schools. And. I forgot to brink s.s. and insurance !!! and they helped me with that… So i wouldn’t miss appointments… thanks !!! Ladies in front desk. Really helpful…

I called to schedule an appointment and I spoke to Tiffany the coordinator and she’s a total idiot, I wanted to inform her that I had health insurance under my mom and then she asks «is that a good thing or a bad thing ?» Seriously what a moron, and I can tell she’s just lazy af because I used to work for a clinic and sometimes we get calls from patients who don’t know their ID number, and they can still look it up by name, date of birth, place of employment, and SSN (which I had !)but she couldn’t apparently, so I said I would call back with the info she wanted and she just giggled and said «ooookay to call back and ask for her blah blah» her tone of voice and attitude was totally unprofessional for a coordinator I wish I could give 0 stars

today i received a call from one of the staff there i believe her name is jennifer she was yelling at me and not nice telling me about my sister no matter how many times i go there i even submitted my power of attorney and health care directive for my sister they still look for her well my sister is a stroke patient and her speech and mind are not completely recover yet so i was the one who can talk anyway this jennifer is rude i dont have any problem with other staff there i just wanna say if your assign to call the patient be nice a little kindness wont hurt cause you dont know what they, ren going through

Doctors here do not listen to you at all. I told one of them i had a chronic condition, she gave me the exact medications that i stated i was already taking. Plus they like to come in 30 minutes after your scheduled appointment. Also I felt as i was being treated as a common drug seeker. I’d rather go down a slide of razor blades into a pool of rubbing alcohol then continue care here. Also I am a medical assistant noticing this circus.

Had a great experience, very helpful staff. I was in and out in 20 minutes. The waiting room was comfortable. Thanks Giselle!

I have taken my grandson to this health center three times and have had no issues. The dr.‘s were friendly, knowledgeable and spent the right amount of time and I felt comfortable with the care my grandson received. The clerk’s working in the front area weren’t exactly friendly but that would not deter me from bringing him again. They should consider looking into the customer service at the front desk.

Best family health centers clinic! We do walk ins and they’re very kind they make sure we’re seen and have given us better results than the one by my house in northpark/​city heights. I rather drive all the way over here than go over there. The nurses have been more supportive knowledgeable than anywhere else I’ve been.

If I could give this place a rating with a negative 5 star rating i would. I have never been so upset and angry with ANY medical place (including hospitals) till i came here (leaving emotionally upset and in tears). I do wanna say that I my self am a medical assistant, and i honestly thought my office was bad until I was assigned here. First bad experience to start here (on Dec 18^th 2013) was the waiting time WITH AN APPOINTMENT that I already had!!! I came in on time, did the paper work i needed too, and still waited an HOUR AND A HALF JUST TO BE CALLED TO WAIT IN THE ROOM! Got the reason for my visit and vitals done then WAITED ANOTHER 2 HOURS before my DR came in for the whole 10 mins i got for my visit with her. After the visit because I was the last patient, i was rushed to leave, I didn’t even get to set my next appointment because everything was shut down and the workers were all standing around waiting for me to get out so they can leave. During my visit, I was told that was going to need two referrals and blood work. I was told it would take about two weeks to hear back for the authorization for them, and if i didn’t hear back in that time to call. Well, as i expected, no call or work about the referrals, so i called. When i called i was transferred to the referral coordinator, which i just got her voice mail. Her message said that if i left a message before 4pm, that i would get a call back that same day, which i called and left a message around 1pm. Did i get a call back? Nope, nothing. I called back the next day, same thing and around 1:30 this time. Did i get a call back this time? NOPE. Third day I called, same thing i got the voice message, but i finally got a call back. Now i only got one referral done and they are still waiting for the other one to be approved. Like i said I work as an MA myself and I am the front office and referral coordinator, so i know the process and how it works. MY referrals should NOT take this long if you have the correct coding and information! So getting to the point, when i called to schedule my appointment for one of the specialist I’m supposed to see, they notify me that the codes they used for my referral was the wrong codes! I’ve never been to the specialist office, and they coded me as a follow up instead of a first time consult. Now mind you with this mistake, they wouldn’t schedule me an appt untill it’s fixed, which is now making me more heated with GSV clinic. I had to call the referral person at the clinic and tell her so she can fix it, i even had to tell her which code she was supposed to use. I am still currently awaiting for my second referral. The second that is making me really upset with this place is the fact that they have HORRIBLE PATIENT COMMUNICATION!!! No one told me or notified me that in order to get my blood results, i needed to go in for an appt for have them read to me. They just told me to do to the lab to get my blood drawn, and that once they get it back, they’ll let me know. But did that happen? NNNNNOOOOOOO i didn’t here ANYTHING about it even coming back from the lab! No one told me that they don’t give out results over the phone and that you have to come in. So here i am waiting for a MONTH just to be told that I have to walk in by 8:15am to get the results. So today I go in to get my results and hopefully get a copy of my labs. Once again i wait 45 mins to be called back. When i get in the back room the MA asked me if my results were sent to their location… WAIT WTF do you mean were my results sent to your location?” WOW THIS CLINIC didn’t even think to check when they saw that I was there for LAB RESULTS! This just put my faith in them WAY BELOW 6FT UNDER! Now that i finally see the Dr after 1 and 15 mins of WAITING AGAIN, I am told NOT SUCH GOOD NEWS ABOUT MY BLOOD WORK. Not only were some of the results abnormal, I HAVE TO BE ON MORE MEDS THAT I SHOULD HAVE STARTED EARLIER IF I HAD KNOWN! At this point im pretty much done with this clinic. The Dr orders to do a blood sugar on me, and get my meds. I got to the lab to get my finger poked, she takes the blood and tells me im done… ok so i don’t even get to know what my blood sugar is? which the test only takes like 5 seconds. wow thanks again grossmont spring valley family health center! And now the final icing on the cake. I went to ask the front desk if i can have a copy of just my lab results (which is at the most 2 pages). They told me that I would have to sign a medical release form, which i understand, and that i would have to pay $ 5 for the copies. REALLY? 5 f****ING DOLLARS FOR 2 PIECES OF PAPER!!! I don’t want all my records, just the damn results! I told her i don’t even have medical insurance, just CMS and what are people who are financially struggling supposed to do on limited funds? she just told me that she can’t do anything, and that its office policy and walked away. WOW THANKS FOR THE SYMPATHY! IM NEVER REFERRING FAMILY OR FRIENDS HERE!

Came in today with my sister for an appointment. The people were on time and the place was clean and nice. If I had an appointment here myself I would come back again. I did go in for the record. Just fyi!

This place is horrible. When my wife and I arrived at the check-​in stand, we were «greeted» by a receptionist who was dressed in stained sweats who waited at least two minutes to even acknowledge our presence. Also, we had a 1000 appointment and we have yet to be seen and it is after 1100. What is the purpose of an appointment if it cannot be kept? Also, I am sitting here next to a woman who has spent this entire time biting and filing her nails. That is gross! This place is horrible. My wife and I decided to walk out without being seen.
