Love this place. Vey relaxed atmosphere, super friendly and helpful staff. Yes, it’s disappointing when they don’t need all of the books you take it in, and yes, the policy change was a tough pill to swallow, but I would much rather have to deal with these inconveniences than the place go out of business and be left without a second-hand bookstore. I’m not comparing this to online bookstores or big-box bookstores. I am reviewing this as a second-hand bookstore(which is not entirely accurate, as they purchase a fairly large number of new copies — mainly the popular titles and required school readings).

I know people in previous posts had issues regarding buy back books or selling their books here. I haven’t done so but I really like this book store. I often purchase mystery, romance, and crime books here for a decent price. I also come here to read or study because it’s so quiet and they have complimentary coffee. It’s my go to bookstore. The staff is also nice and helpful too.

DON’T BOTHERWITHTHISPLACE! I went to this store today looking for two particular books for my sons high school dual credit class. I looked all around and came up empty handed. I then decided to ask the guy behind the counter who was basically doing nothing other than scanning stacks of books. He checked the computer, told me they had numerous copies, and pointed in a generalized direction. I went back to the shelves and still… no books. I don’t think he even knew what he was talking about because I searched and searched and NEVER found said section. This guy saw me searching and NEVER offered to help. LAZY! I guess they don’t need business because he could’ve cared less if I made a purchase.

This is a great little used book store and while their selection is hit or miss I’ve found several great books that I’ve really enjoyed. The staff is friendly, the store is laid out well. I’ll definitely be back in looking for that hard to find book.

Though the store’s selection is limited, there’s a nice ambiance and friendly staff to make the experience enjoyable. There’s always free coffee on hand, and a nice little sitting area where you can peruse books undisturbed. The bathrooms are always clean and the air conditioner is always working at a steady pace in the Summer to keep the atmosphere comfortable. I understand that the store changed management recently, and I can definitely detect this in the environment, which seems a little more businessy now and less casual; still, it’s less stifling than Half Price Books. A special shout out must be given to their«Required Reading» section, which is probably the cheapest and most efficient method of getting necessary school books in the Conroe/Woodlands area. I’m sort of appalled at the indignant, entitled attitudes of the other customers who bring in, by their own admission, shopping bags full of books and expect to be handed wads of cash in return. This is a small, community bookstore, not a Wal-Mart subsidiary that can churn out hundreds of dollars in cash for your books and keep a Library of Congress sized stock on hand.

Elizabeth M. I had the exact same experience when I took in bags of paperback books recently to see if they would want to buy any from me. Like you, the last I’d heard was you could get paid in cash or store credit. When I first came into the store, they told me it was store credit only, and I thought«okay, I always buy books from here, so it’s still worth it». It wasn’t until I went back to the counter, after they decided which ones they wanted, that they told me I still had to pay 50% for the books I wanted. THAT irritated me big time, and needless to say I won’t be returning any books there for resale purposes. One last thing, I had dragged in SEVEN grocery bags of books(four separate trips), and the guy at the counter(no one else was there) never lifted a finger to help me, both when bringing them in and also when taking them back to my car! I thought that was really rude, but that’s just me, lol.

Selection is limited, but like most used book stores, you’ll come across some nice surprises if you look hard enough. This is definitely not the best place for selling your old books, not if you like money, at least. Go to Half Priced Books for that.

This place is absolutely unbelievable. My daughter took several bags of books in here over the summer, and while they«accepted» quite a few of them, she was told that they couldn’t give her a dime in cash – only store credit – $ 90 in store credit!(Had I been with her, I would have declined that«deal.») Fast forward to today… I went in to use some of this credit to purchase a book, and was told that«new store policy» only allows customers to pay for HALF of their purchases with store credit – the other half must be paid for in cash. Seriously? WTF? Those were not the terms under which you«gave» me the store credit! I could see possibly changing the policy for new trades, but for deals that have already been done? Needless to say, I promptly handed my remaining $ 86 in store credit to the customer behind me. Everything in here is ridiculously overpriced anyway compared to what you can buy it for online, and with such sneaky, underhanded business practices as these, I will certainly not give another penny to this place. Sellers AND buyers… BEWARE!!!

After I found damage in one of the 10 books I bought from them they wouldn’t let me exchange the book for a similar one on their shelf. They cited a 24 hr return policy not stated on their receipt. This would have been an even exchange and they would not have lost any money, but they have lost a customer!

I’m spoiled for Half Price books… So little book stores like this are quaint and all, but just don’t compare. I browsed for a while, and felt like I was rather done, haven’t felt the need to go back since.
