History
Established in 2010.
Our head chef, Mike Nejeidi is also part owner of DiSara. Mike received his culinary license from the Culinary Institute in New York City in 1992. Mike’s motto is «the food has to be prepared with love otherwise it will not taste good».
He started working at the Marriott Hotel in NYC as a sous chef and decided he wanted to open his own Restaurant. In 1995, he started Pita Hut which is directly across from the Chelsea Hotel. His Middle Eastern food was an instant hit. Actors such as Uma Therman, Ethan Hawke, Matthew Modine and Al Lewis (grandpa Munster) frequented Pita Hut. Mike kept that business for 13 years.
While looking on Staten Island, Mike fell upon the opportunity to re open Mauro’s located in New Dorp Beach. Mauro’s was a staple in the neighborhood for more than 30 years, and Mike saw this as a challenge. With his «no cans open» style his tomato sauce has brought back repeat customer. Mike can cook anything you want, his style is eclectic, a mixture of specialties.
