Petco

I took my English bulldog, Biff, here for puppy training. John, the trainer, was great! My pup loves him and he really trained Biff well. Lots of good tips and tricks! He even indulged my crazy-​dog-​ladyness by rolling up Biffs completion certificate, tying a ribbon around it and letting me take a picture of him handing it to my pup! Highly recommend the training classes there!

Thw guy still works there. Stopped by 2 years later and the dbagg is still there. Along with the cats and dust on the pet supplies. Trust me, you’d have a better time offing yourself then going here with the dusty/​little business and sh*tty customer service…

My problem with this store is that i purchased a leopard gecko which was housed with about 6 other geckos in a tiny tank that died on me 3 months later. My boyfriend had a similar problem with their baby bearded dragons. He bought one and it died a few days later, and he called petco and they gave him anther to have that one die too!
Their lizards look sick and malnourished and ill never buy another lizard from them again.
Whenever i go in the store to buy crickets for my crested gecko (which i bought from petsmart and is still alive after a year of owning it) there is never anyone around to help me.
I also feel they are more expensive then petland and offer the same products when it comes to fish and lizards.

First off I’d like to respond to the comments about cats trapped in cages. These are cats that are up for adoption, not sale, and that if they were not housed in cages here at cost to Petco and their adoption partners they would end up in kill shelters. The cats have multiple levels and rooms and places to sleep and scratch and eat and enough room to walk around. In comparison to other places such as vets offices or even Petsmart these cats are in a luxurious setting. They are let out by volunteers regularly to have some time to run around in a closed off space. Unfortunately this is the way it has to be due to the epidemic of cat overpopulation. If you think their housing is sad, go to a shelter where for every cat locked in a tiny cage there were 20 cats put down.
This may not be the biggest pet store but it is kept both clean and organized. Petco in general does not cater to grocery store level foods and supplies such as Pedigree but more holistic and natural foods where you really do get what you pay for. I won’t lie though, they are expensive. The same bag of Greenies cat treats are $ 2 less at Petsmart.
As far as the service goes this is a retail establishment and there will always be things to complain about. In comparison to other pet stores and even the other Petco location on the island the staff here is much more friendly. Having been a customer there since it’s opened I’ve even gotten to know some of the employees. The manager Christine is very helpful any time I need help with dog and cat related supplies. Whenever I have any sort of question about my fish tank or am looking to add another fish I always look for Nicole who is extremely knowledgable and helpful as well.

I don’t like how when I walk into this petco I see cats traped inside the cages that like the frist thing you actually see when you walk in… Kinda sad. then further in there’s other little pets such as hamster, rats, turtles, rabbit, and fishes,. The sad thing about the fishes are half of them are aready dead and they just put them in the container for days… the services isn’t good at all when I ask them what to get for my kitties. They just respond with I don’t know… How do you work in a pet store and have no knowledge on what food or treats to give to your cat is good for them…
