Cute retro comic theme and cozy atmosphere. Tons of little tin robots and aliens. There are a few parking spaces in their lot, other than that, there is street parking nearby. They have a little patio which is nice, the inside is cute and rustic, but small. I’ve been here a few times now and have ordered different drinks each time. I’ve been pleased each time with said drinks and with the laid back, friendly baristas. I’m a little sad that I have never received latte art on any of my lattes or other drinks. I anxiously tip my cup expecting a pretty design to take a pic of, but nope. No pretty leaf for me.(I’m a child, yes.) I don’t know if you have to ask for latte art or what, that seems a bit awkward so probably not. Maybe there’s a secret pass word? ;)

From my limited knowledge of Tacoma, which has gone from a place no one from Seattle would ever go 20 years ago to a city transitioning to a place described by the barista as «what Seattle was 20 years ago», I think Cosmonaut is an appropriate coffee stop when in Tacoma. Across the street from beautiful Wright Park and holed up in a tiny spot above another business, cosmonaut is definitely the sort of grit I associated with the northwest grunge scene back in my teenage days. Cosmonaut is complete with proudly loud and granola-esque customers and mediocre coffee equipment yet boundless very cool art, original signs and other pieces of entertaining décor. As for the service, super. Very friendly and hospitable. Couldn’t ask for more. The coffee: I was worried about the equipment and the low number of reviews and so I chickened out expecting mediocrity with an 8oz latte but I was wrong and the barista nailed it. While I can’t fault the place for not giving their espresso or macchiato a try as I judged the place by its cover, I do give 5 stars with the caveat that I didn’t have an espresso. I will return and look forward to my next chat with the very welcoming barista.

Awesome place for the anti-starbucks type to get great coffee. I had the cold brew, and I liked it very much. They had local honey available as well as Stumptown whole beans. looking forward to going back soon.

I stopped by after a nightshift at one of the local hospitals and I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the quality of my latte. I happen to like hemp milk lattes but there aren’t a lot of places that offer hemp milk — this place did! While I was waiting, the barista offered me samples of syrup flavors. They were all tasty and subtle, perfect for a cheeky latte. I’m definitely going to come back and try them. The espresso was pulled well and the hemp latte I purchased was smooth. Highly recommend.

Ok yumm! This coffee so smooth and not bitter. They made a gorgeous design in the foam too. I am so glad I found this little spot on Unilocal. It’s one of those places that if you blink, you’ll miss it. Word of advice: Don’t miss it! Lovely view of the park across the street! We’ll be back!

Forget the Bucks and the Forzas of Tacoma… this is the place you want to come to for caffeine. Dare I say, you might want to renounce your U.S. citizenship… just sayin.

a FULL5 star. I love hole in the wall and even better space related hole in the wall that has everything — steamer and Stevia were just the two things I need this afternoon and they did have the supply — Yuri Gagarin was my dude and I got a mug and a pin but this place is hands down the best local joint in seattle

This place did a pour over for me the other day and it was delicious. Ranks right up there with Valhalla and Bluebeard. Limited seating, but one of the best places to get a cup of coffee/americano in Tacoma.

If you are a coffee snob, this place is for you. I mean that in a good way. They make delicious coffee and they are very friendly. Grab a cup of coffee and go for a walk around Wright Park. Treat yourself.

I’m one of those really, really annoying coffee snobs. I have one drink, a black americano, and I’m really picky about what actually makes a good one. THISPLACE. This place in Tacoma is the best damn coffee in Seattle/Tacoma/Portland. Get you some. I drive from Seattle to get one at least once a month.

Care in every cup. I should know, I am basically a fixture here. What can I say? I’m habitual. Every morning I come with my dog and order a latte, sometimes with cardamom, and then an americano. Always on point. Always while I curiously(probably irritatingly) watch them pour the espresso. Always right before I spread papers out on the tiny bar tables. The baristas are real, but friendly and deal with my daily banter. They’re not paid to do that, but they do. Basically they’re underpaid social workers, make sure to tip them well. You can tell that the community appreciates this treehouse-like stumptown slinging coffee shop, for there are a lot of fixtures and regulars just like me. Recently they added a patio awning. This is a Tacoma must.

Some of the best coffee you’ll ever have. Not just because they serve Stumptown, but because the people there know and love coffee. And you can taste it in every cup! Every time I go in there I get a new recommendation. From what beans to get to what style of coffee fits my current needs and every time I’m blown away.(Thanks for the latest suggestion of the best cold brew I’ve ever had.) The deck is the perfect place for our beautiful summer days. I could sit out there for hours just listening to the sounds of the park and people watching from the perfect high up little perch.

This is my go-to coffee place. The coffee is delicious and the staff is super friendly. You MUST try their iced toddy! I’m so very happy I even can grab a GF treat. Whenever a local friend asks where to get coffee this is where I send them. Friends want to meet up in my neighborhood? Cosmonaut all the way. Will keep coming back, for sure!

My coworkers told me about this coffee place and how they make their own syrups. I decided to try it out! The little sign on the outside says they’re known for their hemp milk lattes — always a bonus as I don’t consume animals and their secretions. It’s a super cute, small, yet cozy little coffee place! I was instantly greeted by the nice barista guy :) They offer soy and hemp milk! The barista let me taste some of the vanilla syrup(vegan friendly FYI) and it tastes amazing: D I also found OMG — Flying Apron vegan & gluten free brownies and cookies! I fell in love even more!

My absolute favorite coffee shop in Tacoma and the best Americanos of all time. The baristas are more like artists taking a lot of pride in their coffee. If their pours(espresso) are too slow then they dump them out and start again. Point: Don’t go rushing in here expecting to get out as fast as Starbucks because there is usually a line. They have great local desserts, snacks and serve and sell Stumptown coffee. So if you want to try a nice local, somewhat hipster coffee shop with fantastic coffee then this is the place to go.

Great café society bones — good java, even excellent; passionate owners and a rabid following — one things keeps this gem from being the hotbed of the next revolution — it is uncomfortable, placing more value on looks(it is a dynamite look!) than comfort or ergonomics. The revolution will have to wait.
