The Floor Trader

I went into Floor Traders and gave my measurements. When I paid half down. When I went to make my final payment, I was told the flooring that I selected had been discontinued.
Bottom line I got way to much product, 6 boxes too much. The distributor doesn’t take back the excess. Now correct me if I am wrong, if I tell you I need 900 square feet and your sales staff figures the amount of material needed, when is to blame.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I was shopping for hardwood floors and was referred here by a friend. Unfortunately what I liked was out of my budget. Oh well it was worth a shot.

Buyer beware! There is something very shifty that happens between floor trader salespeople and the installers they work with. Floor trader will make it very clear that they are independent contractors, but it’s clear the salespeople have tight relationships with these guys. And, when you realize you’ve paid for materials that you haven’t received ($ 29.95 for a piece of laminate trim) and you try to pursue it with floor trader — good luck — you are the odd man out! Inventory your materials when they arrive at your home for installation to make sure you have received all you paid for. Who knows what else might have disappeared between here and there? Also, make sure your leftover materials aren’t walking out the door with departing installers. Never again will buy from you, Floor Trader!

We are currently in the middle of a kitchen remodel. I researched many companies locally and online to find a trustworthy business that provided quality products. We chose Floor Trader because of the fair price they quoted, the quality of the cabinets they offered and the friendly & helpful staff.
Jim came up and measured our kitchen and helped make sure we ordered all the right items. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in the process. He also handled the changes I requested and called back to confirm they were made.
I’m very happy we went with Floor Trader. The cabinets have been installed and they look beautiful. I am very pleased and plan to go back to them when we put hardwood flooring throughout or home.

On July 17^th we went to The Floor Trader and paid for wood to do our bedroom floor. The salesman assured us that he had the wood on hand and we needed to pay for it that day to make sure some other customer didn’t buy it.
Today was the day the installer was supposed to install the floor. He called to inform us that the salesman at Floor Trader had ordered the wrong color. Why did he have to order anything if he had the wood on hand when we paid for it? Why did we have to find out from the installer?
In any event, Floor Trader only had enough wood in our color to do about ²⁄₃ or the room. The rest of the room will have to wait until they get the right stuff in and will be further delayed because the installer will be out of town and my wife and I will be out of town.
I am not happy and I’m considering taking legal action against both the salesman who lied to us and screwed us and the owner of The Floor Trader.
IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING ANYTHING FROM THE FLOOR TRADER, BE WARNED BY OUR EXPERIENCE.

This place was pricier than a couple other areas out there but the service was great. I did not end up purchasing my floors from them. If you have the money, I’d go here just because I felt that they appreciated people and valued their business, unlike GreatFloors who i went to a couple minutes before and swear to everything we were so racially profiled to the point that we were ignored for almost 10 minutes and a white person came in and they ran to her, and were annoyed that I told them I was there first. THIS was INSANE. So Floortraders really made my day a lot better by their attitudes and the way they were so helpful. Just thought Id post this to show the difference an attitude and service can make. Didn’t even buy sat Floortraders and Ill come back!

Getting new floors is an anxiety producing experience, and you already know that if you’ve done it recently, and probably are feeling it right now if you’re checking out Unilocal before considering a purchase! We had carpets put in about 20 years ago and they lasted a long time. But recently we decided to go for wood (or wood laminate as it turns out) floors, largely because of increasing allergies, and I am pretty dang happy that we were pointed to The Floor Trader. We live up in Redmond, but our son recently used these guys for a new living room floor and was extremely positive. Like you, I imagine :), I spent a ton of hours researching flooring on the Internet (hey, the Internet hosts Wikipedia so you know you’re getting the best information possible!) and drove down to see what was possible. As a side note, I’d downloaded the Magic Plan app from the Google store — it’s also available for iPhone — first and created a quick floor plan, took maybe an hour. For $ 2.99 you get a good idea of the square footage and an even better picture of how things are laid out. Anyhow, when I walked in the door, the owner — Dean — was walking the floor and I was lucky enough to get to talk with him. He seemed pretty thrilled with the floor layout I’d brought (yeah for me!) and I’m sure it helped with his eventual proposal. I learned a lot about flooring, and I think I got a more accurate picture of what is what than i had garnered from Ye Olde Internet. With his help, I picked out a new wood laminate floor, some vinyl tile for the kitchen, short carpet for the stairs, and some vinyl for the laundry room and bathroom. Before purchasing, of course, I took my wife with me and that resulted in different bathroom covering only, so it was a pretty good solo trip the first time! Anyhow, we got what I think is a great price and he hooked me up with one of his preferred installers, Mario. It appears that I am about to write a book, so to wrap this up I’ll just say that we love our floors, everywhere. It takes some getting used to walking on woodish floors instead of carpet, so we got a couple rugs for the most used areas and that settled things out fine. I think I might give six stars if that were a possibility, because not only do we have some awesome floors now, but the entire process was fairly anxiety free and if you know me that is an impressive feat! Well done, Mr. Dean Paulson, and thanks again for everything!

These guys helped me choose cabinets for a couple of projects in my north Tacoma craftsman home. I am really happy with the level of service, quality of materials and price paid. Dean, the owner, was really friendly and a huge asset to me in my do it myself remodel project. He even recommended a contractor that worked out great. I will definitely go back when I have enough money to replace my flooring.

Brian was extremely helpful. Not only did he help me find what I needed very quickly but he also gave me a few tricks to use that have already saved me hours!
