Kaiser Permanente Thousand Oaks Medical Offices

The doctors and nurses are pretty good. The physical plant is not. Very handicapped unfriendly. Small waiting rooms for doctors, xray, and labs with no place to put wheel chairs. The physical therapy on hodencamp is much the same. Very good people but darn near impossible to access if you are in a wheelchair.

This location has family medicine, laboratory, pharmacy and vision essentials. Convenient for those that live in the area, many elderly people in the waiting area during weekdays

Just received a telephone call from Kaiser that I owed over $ 1,000k in deductible for bills dating back to September. It is now late February. I did not receive this phone call until 2 days after I complained about KP not providing standard blood work and my daughter having to wait almost two months for a physical. I find the timing ironic. Also the fact that I have received every piece of mail from KP EXCEPT the billing. Those bills were send to an address I had more than 20 years ago! I would strongly advise when you go to KP for anything except for what the Affordable Health Care mandates, to check what the deductible will be. KP claims to be affordable, but I do not see close to $ 10,000 a year for insurance premiums, co-​pays and deductibles for two people as being reasonable by any definition.

As someone who can literally count the times he’s been to a doctor on one hand, (or foot) I have to say that it was an overall good experience. In a way I felt like a number since they are very busy. Not the most personal doctor-​patient relationship but what do you expect? I’m still breathing, blood pressure normal!

Back food, and your sleeping bag! So grateful I don’t have Kaiser! I’m here with my bf in urgent care and it turns out that they don’t take you by urgency! Sorry to the people who came in with sprained ankles, that they were walking around on, that are now leaving with fevers because my bf had to wait. We arrived at 6pm with a fever of 102.4 and shortness of breathe and it is now 8:07pm still waiting to see the doctor. :’(

You get what you pay for. Kinda like an assembly line without the efficiency. ER visit recently for chest pain and took 4 tries to draw blood effectively (wish I could post picture of bruised arm from the needle insertions). Attending doctor (really nice guy) prescribed rest and a treadmill stress test asap — 3 days later got call from department saying 1^st available appointment for one is 2 weeks out.
If survive rest of this year will pay a little extra and switch back to Anthem.

I will start with I love Kaiser and the level of specialty care we have received is pretty unbelievable. I should work in their advertising or PR dept I believe in what they do so much and have countless stories. With that said, the TO Hillcrest location is somewhat of an anomaly. Nurses that work at both TO Hillcrest and TO Blvd location have been nice at TO Blvd and not nice at Hillcrest. The lab check-​in is very frequently a dmv level interaction, yet the lab and x-​ray techs are very nice. The Family Med check-​in folks are nice but the dr. s are not that friendly often. I understand Family Med is a mill but maybe Kaiser should consider patient quantity and how that influences service quality. The pharmacy is the worst, I would say around 80% of the time I have a dmv level interaction at check-​in and about 50% dmv level when speaking with a pharmacist. Yes they are busy but not as busy as Woodland Hills 3^rd floor, Northside or 1^st floor and they are always nice! I just want the service to be conistent. I would rather drive to Camarillo for the pharmacy then deal with Hillcrest Pharmacy.

I joined Kaiser years ago to save money but to my surprise it’s pretty good. Seems like lots of the reviews are written by whiners. One person bitched about hearing people speaking Spanish in the waiting room. Maybe we should find that person a nice white supremacist medical group. I am guessing if I was a congressmen I might get better care but for the time being this Kaiser is simply not that bad.

I gave them 1 star only because the staff was very nice. We were there over 3 hours for a small glass piece that we couldn’t find on our own. Avoid coming to the urgent care at all costs unless you enjoy spending your evening waiting in a doctors office. I have never ever been in an emergency room this long. They never even found the glass and told us to wait for it to come out on its own. The doctor didn’t use a magnifying glasses or even a bright light. I would rather pay cash out of pocket than ever go back there.

So disappointed this afternoon; the man I have been caretaking for over 7 years likes to go to this facility for his six-​month scheduled blood test, or if something specific comes up and he needs a prescription. At 81, he has been a member for many years and has always enjoyed the care they give. Then, there was today. A simple blood test turned into a mystery movie. I watched my friend enter through the door of the lab… he uses a roll walker due to replacements on both knees over the past three years. I waited, and waited… watching other patients exit that were called after him. Finally I inquired. They let me in the back, yet there was no one back there. Another patient entered, yet not the one I have know for 38 years. I asked a «Gentleman» where Mr. «So & So» was… he did not know. I gave his name again, and the «Gentleman» stated, «Oh, he went home». My answer, «What do you mean he went home? He can barely walk?» Feeling the blood rush to my head, I went looking for the man that I knew I drove to this location… looked all around the building, and the parking lot. I opened the MEN’s room for the general public, and called his name; no answer. On my way back to the desk, here comes the mysterious patient out the same door he entered. I was livid. Two females and the same «Gentleman» were at the desk, and I inquired as to why they would tell me he went home? The stupid looks on their faces answered my question, and they immediately got defensive and told me that I needed to leave… that it was no big deal, and that I was upsetting patients who were sick. Let me state, if I were sick, I would not even let these people give me an enema. They actually lost a patient for a little over 10 minutes. It did not occur to any of them to inquire where Mr. DOE had actually gone, and fortunately for me Mr. DOE overheard everything while in the LAB bathroom trying to produce a urine specimen. Mr. DOE laughed later and stated, «I was afraid you were going to leave without me, so I hope I gave them enough.» Pathetic. I worked patient registration in emergency and admitting for many years at Holy Cross in Mission Hills. The last thing you want to do is give friends or family false information. If you do not know what is going on, or cannot remember, you don’t just make it up so you can move on to the next patient and/​or customer. You take the time to look at your notes, see who drew the blood, see where he/​she might have been sent afterward so that you are informed and don’t end up looking like an incompetent. In addition, while attempting to get MY long lost friend in the car the «Gentleman» from lab came out the back door, hysterical, telling me if I ever came back I would have to register with security first. That simply broke my heart; I turned around, and with both hands cupping my mouth yelled, «HMO…that’s all we need to know» He ran back inside. We laughed all the way home.

If you like long lines and difficulty finding parking this is your office.
If you see Dr. Jordan you will wait 1 hour or more!
I asked her why she replied that is the way it is.
By the way, when you first walk in you might think you are in a nursing home!
Majority of patients are elderly.

I took my wife to the Kaiser Woodland Hills emergency room. The nurse was great but we waited three hours to see a doctor but one was not available. We gave up and left. The next day we got an appointment with Dr. Kopecky. After a blood test and taking her blood pressure he diagnosed her as being dehydrated and having a very low level of sodium. They hydrated her intervenes restore the sodium level to normal. They stayed with her from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M., after closing hours. Dr. Kopecky advised her to drink sports drinks with a higher sodium content and to salt her food. The next day we had additional tests made and returned to Dr. Kopecky. He reviewed the tests with us. Her sodium level and blood pressure was normal. We can not express our gratitude enough to Dr. Kopecky for his professional and caring abilities.

Attempted the urgent care tonight with a horrible bee sting that is increasing in size and swollen lymph nodes. I waited for an hour and 20 min and watched people after me kept getting called. I finally went up to the counter and was told they «have appointments»… Hmm interesting since earlier on the phone I was told urgent care is «walk in only.»
Got my co pay back and left very upset after he told me I was behind 6 people! I am sitting there with a swollen leg and just because I didn’t lie and say I have «chest pain» I kept getting pushed back…
No wonder they take your co pay first!

I have been a Kaiser member for many years. I rate my Doctor, Dr. Kopecky as excellent; his nurse Lisa, excellent; the staff, excellent. The pharmacy is very quick, the testing staff efficient, the optometrist — best I’ve ever had. Nice people, always pleasant and smiling. They make it easy for me to be pleasant and smiling too.

I am so impressed with the way I have been treated as a patient of kaiser. I felt awful like I might have the flu, my current physician was out of the office that day so they set me up with a N.P. She diagnosed me with the flu, gave me meds and sent me home to get better. I was treated quickly, fairly and with respect. I could not ask for a better experience. To top this off my regular physician Dr. Ferguson had her nurse call me to update me about my med refills. Can’t be more appreciative of the care I get.

Such a horrible experience at this Kaiser!
I got a terrible sinus infection/​fever/​flu — don’t even know what craziness to call it combination of sickness.
I came in to the urgent care here after work about 2 weeks ago with 102 + fever, sinus pressure that made my head want to explode, and a terrible body ache that I had been trying to sleep off for about a week. I decided I could not handle it anymore and decided to go in. I paid a ridiculous co-​pay expecting to get a proper visit and hopefully some medication to get rid of the horribleness.
I was lucky, I had made it just in time to the urgent care before the wait line got to 2 – 4 hours. I was seen within 30 – 40 minutes of arriving. When the doctor finally came in, she went over my symptoms, and checked my past chart history. After 2 – 3 minutes of contemplating she decided that it was probably just a small cold and decided I could just sleep it off telling me it would probably go away within 7 – 14 days! Are you kidding me? I am supposed to stay sick for 21 days??? I have work and a life to keep together, I cannot afford to be sick!!! I asked her to reevaluate — I looked like crap, felt like crap, and from my past history I know I needed ANTIBIOTICS!
She told me should run a strep test just to make sure it wasn’t that, told me it would take 5 minutes. Nope she returns 50 minutes later, leaving me completely unattended explaining that she had to take 2 more clients and «apologized» for the wait … I was so angry at this point. I took my visit overview and just left.
This was the worst care experience I have ever had. To be honest, I had better visits on Medi-​Cal even though the wait was a bit longer. So frustrating. I was really expecting more from Kaiser after dropping hundreds of $$$ a month for their coverage.

The parking at this location is a challenge. Allow time to circle the lot in hopes of finding a space and out maneuvering another stressed member.
I mentioned the problem when I went inside. I was told it will get worse because they are adding a few more doctors and other staff members, which will result in more patients. Kaiser should work on their current crop of patients instead of advertising to get more people to sign up for their services. When they add more patients and employees to this location, I hope they add a few more handicap spaces. The Woodland Hills location is just as bad.
I am not «thriving» because I’m busy «driving».

Its nice that the Pharmacy is open late!

I am a NorCal Kaiser Member and am currently living down here. An advice nurse said I should come here after I told her my symptoms. Everyone but one nurse was extremely rude, nothing like the NorCal facilities. Didn’t even get to see a doctor. They set me up with an RN who was extremely rude. I had swollen glands, a fever, and could hardly talk I was in so much pain. I asked if I might have mono and the RN dismissed it as a bad sore throat without even checking for it. It wasn’t until 5 appointments later and 3 trips to the ER I *was* diagnosed with mono.
In short: Horrible service. Uncaring. Extremely disappointed in Kaiser SoCal.

I’ve made this my home Kaiser location for the past several years and they’ve always provided fast, straightforward, no-​nonsense full service. Every single staff member I’ve encountered has been extremely friendly and helpful and the convenience of coming here for one-​stop treatment is far better than my old routine with Blue Shield.
You just make your appointment (or not, if it’s urgent), show up, check in at the automatic kiosk, see the doctor and then walk a few feet across the hall for any tests or X-​rays. Finally you walk a few more feet down the hall to their in-​house pharmacy.
It just doesn’t get any easier than this…
Referrals, when needed are always quick and my doctor has always been extremely thorough and accurate, identifying and treating any problem correctly and efficiently.
Although my employer gives us a choice of several medical companies and plans, I really love my Kaiser coverage and location. It’s perfect…
