I hadn’t been to Honda in a while, but my brother is a big fan of the place, so we decided to go for my last dinner before I had to head back to school. I really like Japanese food, but unfortunately there aren’t a lot of good options near where I live in PV. Honda is pretty close to the hill though and right next to my hair salon. We got reservations for 6pm on a Friday night. My mom ordered the salmon shioyaki and sushi combo, my brother ordered the angus beef teriyaki and sushi combo, and I ordered the angus beef teriyaki and sashimi combo. All the combos come with unlimited rice, salad, and miso soup which is great! The side dishes came out pretty quickly and then our main dishes, but my mom and brother had to wait a while(~25−30 minutes) for their sushi. I think at some point, they forgot about the sushi and we had to remind them after we finished the rest of our meal about it. I was pretty happy with the portion of my steak and sashimi combo and I gobbled it up happily. I had just come back from visiting Japan during winter break, so it was nice to have some authentic Japanese food again. Also, portions in Japan are never this big, so it was really nice. I know some people say it’s kind of pricey, but I think the quality great and portions of the food are pretty reasonable. It’s also nice that they give you 10% off if you pay in cash! I definitely will come back soon with my family when I come home for break. I am craving some good sushi and teriyaki because I go to school in the midwest where Japanese food doesn’t exist.

Great food, good service. I recommend their rolls with eel. It tasted fresh and quite tasty. Would come again if presented the opportunity.

It was my first time here. Wait wasn’t long and food was decent. However, I would not come back again due to the really slow service. They literally served one dish at a time through our whole meal. Sushi was served last among hot foods were ordered. Pretty disappointed in this place.

We had the chirashi and the omakasae sushi($ 26.5 each), both come with unlimited salad and soup, just in case you need it. The steamed egg custard is simple but velvety smooth. There is a good variety of seafood in the above including geoduck, monk fish liver and black sea bream. The quality of the seafood and skill on the sushi is superb. Obviously, seafood is seasonal so you may not get the same as us. They have other deals for sports fans as the place has more of a western bar feel with the exception of the sushi bar.

This authentic little Japanese restaurant is offers a very extensive menu. Almost too many items… but the items I ordered were fresh and delicious. Unfortunately I can’t give them 5 stars because everything is a bit pricey. So –1 star for that. We came for lunch and ordered spicy tuna roll, which was a bit heavy handed on the mayo, but everyone in our party seemed to love it. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and they brought me a Rainbow BOWL! LOL! In their defense, Roll and Bowl at least sound the same. As you can tell my order got lost in translation. hehe They promptly corrected my order, but it was so funny; I just had to share. When I finally received my rainbow ROLL it was very fresh and tasty. I also ordered the gyoza. The gyoza came out with a fried cover… I’m not really sure how to explain this one. So only half of it was actually fried. It was very good(a little oily but not too much). I also tried the chicken teriyaki; there was nothing special to report on this dish. Just your standard chicken teriyaki. This is the safe dish for all your friends that don’t want to adventure into sushi-land. That’s all folks! I’ll be back to try a few more items and report back!

My babe and I frequent here often. We love the quality of the food, casual atmosphere, and great service by staff and love that we can watch sports at the bar. The sushi has great taste and is small enough to fit on your mouth without it getting all over the place or straining your jaw. If your interested in try something new, gotta try the cheeseburger roll, taste like bit size In-n-Out in your mouth. And if your thinking of desert go for the tempura ice cream… OMG!

Every time my family comes here, we are warmly greeted by the staff. Thursday and Sunday nights have Happy Hour specials for game watchers. You can sit at the sushi bar and watch the games or if you’re lucky get a good sized booth. The place is not large, but it’s always a full house. The staff is nice and the food is great. I recently tried one of their appetizers«Shi So Hot» made from shiso leaves(sesame leaf) with filling and a hot siracha sauce. Yum! My only suggestion is that they offer vanilla ice cream for the kids meal. They had only green tea and sesame ice cream which was ok for adults.

Handsome and I are from Pasadena and we were meeting friends from Texas that were headed out on a cruise and they happened to be staying in Torrance. If you are from the So Cal you know on a Friday afternoon/evening from Pasadena to Torrance can be quite a drive sitting in traffic. Normally a ½ hour drive became an hour an 20 minute drive. We didn’t know of any sushi restaurants in Torrance so I searched for something close to their hotel. We came up with Honda sushi… we made reservations; however, I was unsure of what time because of traffic. The nice gentleman on the phone said let’s make it 6pm and if you come early or later just let us know. Well we got there about 5:45pm and there was a table waiting for us. Our initial thoughts were that it was quite deserted… was this place any good… did I choose the right place… our friends are going to hate us because they love sushi… oh no… what did I do? Well we were pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu… Our friends ordered the chirashi, handsome had the several pieces of nigiri sushi and I had the sizzling beef teriyaki… I must say that I shouldn’t have had the sizzling beef teriyaki. I was feeling for some teriyaki since I hadn’t had it in a while, but it wasn’t my thing. Handsome and my friends LOVED their dishes, so I must say that this place is a keeper. When we are in the area again, we will visit this establishment again. Warning! Make reservations on a Friday night. When we were done at 8:30pm the restaurant was full, the waiting area was full and it spilled out to the front of the restaurant!

Great service and good food! Love the rice! Lots of creative sushi rolls but still authentic Japanese sushi chefs. Such a good Japanese restaurant in South Torrance area! Good selection for kids, too, including kids meal! Get 10% off if paying cash. We will definitely come more often!

We didn’t eat much. When looking over the menu I was sort of turned off by the types of rolls they had. Lots of heavier mayos, cream cheeses and sauces dumped on top. But we were already there, so may as well at least get some sashimi and sake. I’m very glad we did. Their peppered tuna, is literally some of the best sashimi I have ever had in my life. I ate it like it was any other kind of fish, but the second it hit my tongue, I became very aware this is special. If you come here for no other reason, get the peppered tuna sashimi or nigiri. We got some other sashimi as well, but it doesn’t even matter. I came here to report on the peppered tuna.

Wow, has anyone experienced a Birthday Celebration here? Amazing. My friend and I entered this restaurant on a whim during Lunch hours. My friend just happened to mention it was my birthday to one of the waiters. At the end of our lunch, they surprised us by having all the waiters come out with rubber chickens singing Happy Birthday! They gave me a large pink flamingo hat to wear, a beautiful tempura green tea ice cream with a candle & a huge sign that said, Happy Birthday! They took a picture of us, and no joke, came out with a printed picture of all of us for me to keep within minutes. Amazing. 5 Stars for Service! Lunch(Yellowtail tempura roll & sashimi with miso soup) was yummy & the draft Sapporo was delish. Some highlights: –Wine Lists –Sushi & Roll List –Today’s Specials & Hidden Menu –Omakase –Catering & Take Out –Private Parties welcome

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. It was my first time dining here. This place is small yet cozy. We were a party of seven and they seated us at a small booth, but only because the bigger tables were occupied. Eventually we just had to separate into two tables. But once a bigger table was available they switched us over to the bigger table. As you can tell by now the restaurant is small. But I really appreciated the time they took to get us comfortable. We ordered our food and the food came out at a timely manner. I ordered a teriyaki chicken and tempura combination, which comes with a side salad, miso soup, rice, and a little potato salad. The tempura batter was light and crispy. It came with an assortment of two shrimps, kabocha(pumpkin), string bean, eggplant, and shisito pepper. The portions were big and tasty. My husband ordered Nabeyaki udon soup, which comes with two tempura shrimp. They also have a sushi bar. The rest of my party ordered the beef teriyaki combination with either salmon, sushi, or tempura. Their dishes looked delicious as well. The staff were friendly and they checked up on us often. If you like Japanese food you should check this place out.

Honda has very tasty sushi with good quality fish. They definitely have one of the most comprehensive menus I’ve seen at sushi restaurants with many varieties of fish and rolls. Their special nigiri including albacore and pepper tuna are delicious. Honda is on the pricier side of sushi restaurants in the South Bay(an order of nigiri sushi going from$ 5-$ 7) although their combos offer decent deals.

Wow. Do not leave here without trying the bacon cheeseburger roll. At first you may be grossed out at the idea but believe me when I say they are giving In N Out a run for their money. If this place starts making burgers then I’ve definitely found my new favorite burger joint. Now on to the fish. Sooooo good. I asked for a rainbow roll with no rice and they gladly delivered. The no name #1 is another great no rice option. So flavorful and delicious. The scallops were especially sweet and yummy. And I’m not a fan of scallops. The dragon roll had some of the freshest unagi I’ve ever tasted. The odyssey was ok. I wouldn’t order it again however since it wasn’t very flavorful. Definitely do not pass this place up. We came around 6:15 on a Tuesday and the place was fairly empty. Beat the dinner crowd and stop by Honda for a delicious dinner! Note: they have an impressive lunch menu.

This is only for my pickup experience. The gentleman who took my order was a very friendly man. He warned me prior to ordering that the kitchen was busy and depending on what I ordered it might take longer than usual. I appreciate that kind of candor. I ordered the tempura udon, which came with 2 pieces of shrimp and assorted vegetables(including okra. Didn’t know that was part of the Japanese cuisine. .?). For takeout the tempura was pretty good. I was disappointed that my udon noodles were placed in with the broth. So by the time I got home the noodles had absorbed so much of the broth that they were pretty salty. I tried adding water but that didn’t help much.(Other places separate the noodles from the broth for pickup orders. That would be my only criticism. I would still like to come back and try the sushi here. It was packed when I went to pickup my order. That says something!

The service is great here. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming. Came here for the anniversary special where everything on their menu was 50% off. The curry garlic fries and chicken wings are great must try appetizers; the takoyaki was not. I ordered the Chef’ Choice Nagiri entrée and I have to say it didn’t look very fresh. However the tempura roll(forgot which one) was very very good. So crunchy! Everything else was great. The best thing I had there was the tempura ice cream. It’s the best I’ve had in a long time.

Dropped by on a Wednesday night and ordered 2 of their special rolls. They were priced around $ 14 each and came with 8 pieces. Flavors were just ok and the pieces were rather small for the price. Taste — quantity — price just wasn’t great. Wouldn’t come again. for the rolls at least.

Came for the first time ever to this place, which is located off the Best Buy parking lot near Office Depot. It was quite busy and lively on a Friday night. Being with young kids, waiting is extra hard for us, but Yoshi the host did his best to get all parties seated promptly. Try to avoid peak times, if you can. Asahi Dry pitcher wasn’t too bad at $ 16.25. Large menu that includes udon and donburi(rice) bowls and combos in addition to lots of sushi. Lots of rolls in a $ 14 range, so we tried to avoid those. $ 8.75 was a lot for a kid’s meal, but there was enough for both kids to share: miso, fries, salad, rice, teri chicken, a wing, some orange slices and green tea ice cream. My udon had nice flavor and came with chives and ground red pepper to add. My $ 2.50 add-on California roll curiously had only four pieces, as did my wife’s soybean cut roll. Mom’s spider roll came out a long and awkward 10 minutes after the rest of our hot food did. Surprising. I was hoping that they might take that off the bill. Boy was I wrong: they tally up your bill by hand, and ours was high by about $ 20! You may want to double-check your own bill. Yoshi was happy to remedy after we recalculated at home and I called back, but a hassle, nonetheless. This place seems very popular place for locals, but I don’t know if they offer anything superior that you can’t get at other Japanese places. I might drop in if I’m in the neighborhood at an off-peak time, but I don’t think I’ll make any more special trips myself.

Cheeseburger sushi roll? Yes please!!! One of Honda’s best kept«secret». Steak pieces with, rice, lettuce, tomato and dressing wrapped in rice paper and comes with 2 pieces of french fries. It taste exactly like a cheeseburger. A must try! Honda sushi is a small Japanese restaurant that serves traditional sushi and creative and unique specialty sushi rolls, rice bowls, dishes and etc. Specialty sushi rolls are named after Honda car models. Sooo funny and intriguing. An Japanese staff(in front of the house) and love how you see the owner who is one of the sushi chefs doing his thing making sushi behind the bar, laughing and interacting with the customers. A close friend of mine comes here at least once a week and sits at the bar, eats sushi and takes shots with the chefs. That’s awesome. The food we had was excellent. Probably one of the best sushi I’ve had. It’s expensive. But worth it! Other food we tried… –Honda CRV sushi roll– California roll with salmon on top with some tangy white sauce on top. Super fresh! I don’t know what the heck is in the white sauce, but it was delicious! –Honda Element sushi roll– Shrimp tempura and cucmber inside with seared peppered tuna on top with gralic chip. I loved it! Never had anything like it before. The pepper and garlic taste was prominent and it was delightful! –Salmon dinner with 5 pieces of sushi– Salmon was perfectly cooked. Came with white rice and hot miso soup. The sushi was fresh and sliced thick. –Garlic Fries– Not too garlicky. Very tasty! The staff are extremely friendly. Our server was knowledgable with the menu and even recommended drinks from her home town. I took away one star because the place is not good for groups. They have a few booths that seats about 8 people. We couldn’t invite our other friends because we simply wouldn’t fit. The food took awhile to come to our table and we all didn’t get our food at the same time. It helped that the group kept talking and drinking. But man, we were hungry lol. I’ll definitely come back and try their other sushi rolls
