Truckee Movers

I’ve been meaning to write this for awhile. Truckee Movers is my go-​to moving company (3x moves). They’re simply amazing. 100% professional, nice, and careful.
A few months ago, they moved a bunch of stuff from SF to Incline. They went above and beyond to make it work. They made the trip down the mountain on the exact day I needed with two weeks notice (my building only gave us a small window because other units had pre-​scheduled moves).
They were able to get me packed in just a few hours, and head back up the hill. A heavy snow storm was setting in, but that didn’t deter them. However, it did deter me. My tires were a little worn and I was concerned about driving in the snow.
This was a problem because I was supposed to be on site the next morning for the drop-​off. But the guys were awesome. They said, «give us the key, we’ll get you moved it.» So while I drove up the next day, they unpacked the truck — furniture and all — down a 100′ path in over a foot of snow.
By the time I arrived in the afternoon, they were done and gone. My instructions were followed to a «t». Everything was neatly organized in the condo, in the correct rooms as marked. Safe and sound.
What a huge relief. And I didn’t even have to be there. I’m a nitpicker when it comes to my stuff, and they couldn’t have been more respectful.
One other side note: Truckee Movers is one of the very few «local» moving companies that holds both CA and NV licenses. The national chains would have done my move, but wanted crazy-​exorbitant rates for crossing state lines and couldn’t do it on short notice. The local San Francisco moving companies would move me to Truckee, but either couldn’t or didn’t want to move me across the state line.
Truckee Movers saved my bacon and I’m a fan.

Believe all the great reviews you’re reading. I hired Truckee Movers to perform a complicated move/​swap between Truckee and two different properties in Reno — of furniture and household goods, including a big gas BBQ, an 18-​foot canoe, endless boxes of books, big potted plants, four sofas, two dining tables… etc — and some large-​format framed artwork. The two men on duty were strong, competent, speedy, organized, friendly, interesting — what more can I say? And they maneuvered sofas and tables through narrow doorways and up stairwells with aplomb and without dings or scratches. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

We are interior designers, so we use Dillon and his team a lot. They are everything movers should be: prompt, courteous, hard-​working, and careful. They handle complex, multi-​location jobs for us, and they move really heavy, big stuff cheerfully, no matter what the weather. These guys are true professionals, and they are always our movers of choice. Use them.

Very positive experience with Truckee movers. We just completed a move from Truckee to the Bay Area. They packed us up, navigated a lot of stairs coming out of our house in Truckee, and brought a full truck load of furniture and household items to two delivery points in the Bay Area. Great attitude, on time, on budget, and all the guys were careful with our things, and very pleasant to work with. Highly recommended.

Truckee Movers did a great job in unpacking my moving pods — they were very efficient, professional, flexible and with great positive attitudes throughout the jobs. I had two pods, one of which was jammed and could not be opened — Truckee Movers was very accommodating in working me into their reschedule/​availability so we could finish the job before the rains set in on a Saturday. From their customer-​friendly attitudes to their prompt and efficient moving skills, I highly recommend their services for any moving needs to/​from the Tahoe area!

We recently hired Truckee Movers to install a large sectional sofa-​sleeper in the second story living room of our vacation home. We had been working with a different moving company in the vicinity but they were unwilling/​unable to deal with this particular furniture (ostensibly) due to the challenges our home’s particular architecture presented. Truckee Movers was familiar with the furniture manufacturer’s disassembly instructions and dealt with this adeptly whereas the other company was not willing to attempt this. They devised a plan to hoist the (heavy/​cumbersome) sections up onto the 2^nd story balcony and then through the tight, narrow turns of each doorway and then set them into place.
The team of three guys were good natured and worked well together in a rather daunting situation. As another reviewer mentioned — they all demonstrated a «Can Do» spirit! I would recommend them to anyone needing this type of service in the Tahoe/​Donner area and only wish that we had known to contract with them for our entire move. P. S. Their pricing is fair and competitive!

From the first phone call everyone was very professional and helpful. The quote was fair and they kept to the price. They were there exactly when they said they would arrive and worked quickly. They were very careful not to nick walls or furniture. I was so happy with this company, it made a stressful move much easier, they are the best!

I’ve used Truckee Movers on 3 different occasions. They are reliable, professional, flexible, and friendly with a «can do» attitude. Never any damage, always go the extra mile to be careful with our things. Just the type of guys you need to de-​stress the otherwise tense situation that moving can bring about. I don’t often write reviews, but in the case of Truckee Movers, I’m taking the time to do so because I had a perfect experience with them. Dillon and his team were professional, hard-​working, conscientious, and even fun. I’ve used numerous movers in previous experiences and, in general, I found them to be untrustworthy and reckless with our belongings. Truckee Movers is the «anti-​mover» in this regard. I highly recommend Truckee Movers and will absolutely use them again in my next move.

These guys came over to my house Saturday right on time, moved everything fast into the truck. Collin and (I cant remember the other person’s name) did a fantastic job, very courteous, polite and careful. The transported everything to the other side of town and unloaded very fast as well. This was not an easy accomplishment due to the tough entry on the new place. All in all, it was a really awesome experience and I highly recommend them. Andy and Dillon were very professional on the phone dealing with my schedule issues. I will definitely be using this crew again!

I had a great experience with Truckee Movers and highly recommend them. They made it easy to set up a move and followed up to confirm the date. Andy and Ian showed up on time, with a positive attitude, and were very efficient. They took great care to move things carefully and keep my place clean. Truckee Movers are Fantastic!
I hired Truckee Movers to move my office in May 2014. The entire experience with them was fantastic! They were prompt to respond. Their bid was lower than anyone else’s. They were efficient, polite and quick. And they took great care with heavy desks and file cabinets and tricky stairs. Although they are young, they are very professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with.
I would not hesitate to refer them to anyone looking for movers in the Truckee area.

As a real estate agent I have used Truckee Movers many times, they are always curtious and on time. I highly recommend them to any one who needs help moving!

Incredible movers. Moved us from Calistoga to Tahoe Vista. Packed the truck as tightly as humanly possible, we’re attentive to delicate items, held our items over the weekend, and unloaded faster than I could believe. Great communication during the quote and scheduling process. Friendly and polite laid back guys who work hard and efficiently. I’d hire them again in a heartbeat!

My best move experience ever! Dillon and team moved my entire house from Sonoma to Kings Beach and carefully placed everything in my garage while my new floors were going in. They drove three hours to Sonoma, got there on time, packed it all up, and made it three hours back up to Kings Beach in time to unload on the same day.
Yesterday, they were back (three months later) to move everything into the house. Again, they were extremely careful and efficient. My move included a baby grand piano going up several stairs and a driveway that is similar to Lombard Street in San Francisco (only narrower and steeper).
When the guys scratched the side of my washing machine, they immediately asked me to come downstairs to check out the damage (it was just a scratch). I was really impressed that they were so upfront and honest.
Friendly, polite, and thoughtful. All around, a great job!

I have to add as we just moved to Oregon from Truckee, and we were sooooo satisfied with them on a long distance move. They were so careful with our belongings, and they didn’t mind leaving for a few minutes while we located our scared cats. They are pleasant with each other, don’t mind doing anything to help out. They left here about an hour ago and I miss them already!
