Friendly and helpful staff. Yummy BBQ and side dishes. Left this restaurant stuffed and happy! :)

They should have stayed open, period. This place had some of the best food I’ve ever had in the 8 countries I lived in and 26 I visited. Seriously delicious Kimchi, and I’m a Kimchi HATER!!! I can’t stop thinking about the kimchi here and I’m so disappointed this place closed I think I’m going to go into a corner and cry Q_Q;; I really hope they re-open somewhere else, I’m really really going to miss this place… Farewell Patio… Q_Q

Place is ooooooooooooook… only came here because the KBBQ place down the street had a 2 hour wait and my group was starving! The patio is smaller than most KBBQ places I’ve dined at but it is still bog enough for groups — although they will be broken up in different tables. Place reminds me of an old Pizza Hut building. Eat here again? Pass.

ARGGHHHALKJEOIFNANHWOEINH!!! I was soooo excited to finally try out Gen with some friends, and then they told us the wait was 2 hours… I honestly don’t mind waiting that long if the food is really good, but unfortunately my friends are impatient little mofos. Therefore, we looked to Unilocal and found a supposedly decent KBBQ down the street… How this place has 4 stars, I don’t know. Everything about this place was so disappointing. The galbi tasted like meat soaked in soy sauce, the banchan was sub par, they don’t give rice, or dduk bosam with your meal. Everything is cooked on a small ghetto grill on the end of the table, not centered. Plus the service was really bad. We would have to continually ask for the same thing over and over, and somehow they kept forgetting to bring us something even though there were only 4 tables. In the end our bill was about $ 17 each, which is the same price as AYCE. Seriously, WTF.

Friday get together with a bunch of folks so instead of waiting 3 hours for Gen(new K BBQ place down the street), we end up here. Cool little patio(like the name) and heating lamps for the cold ones. We started off as we usually do with alcohol so tonight it’s Soju… tons of Soju. We orderded pretty much everything on the menu as we had a group of 15 so if you were there Friday, November 4th after 6PM til close we’re sorry for our behavior /noise level. We’re intense to say the least. 4 more bottles of Soju please. All the different meat just didn’t really do it for me… most was tough no matter how you cooked it. The Kim Chi and pickled stuff was really good. I have a problem with the dipping trays though, they are way too small; when you can’t get a cut of meat completely in the dish that’s a problem for me…*see Anjin and Gyu Kaku dipping trays.* 4 more bottles of Soju please. The wait staff and manager(i’m guessing) were really cool and quick to deliver whatever we requested. and even gave us 3 bottles of free Soju, after 4 more bottles of Soju please. Overall the place is really cool… great vibe and nice people… if the food was better then this would be a fixture for us, however, there are too many other K BBQ spots that have the formula down better… i guess that’s why you wait there and don’t here. and so what, yeah I blacked out from Soju… horrible!

I had no idea that this place even existed. Thank you, new joint down the street, for having a 2 hour wait on a Friday night, therefore forcing our party of five down the street to the Patio! Maybe this is an old-fashioned way of thinking, but I can’t help but be comforted by the fact that almost ALL of the rest of the patrons here are Koreans old and young, groups big and small. That has to mean something. We brought a young Korean with us! That definitely means everything :) Pork belly, either spicy or regular marinated, WAS in fact very good. Korean A taught me to lightly grill my kimchi and eat it on top of grilled pork belly. This combination, with a little salt-and-peppered sesame oil and a swig of Hite, was ethereal. That’s a pretty enjoyable experience here. Bulgogi was also very tasty — not too sweet or sticky like other places — and the bean sprouts were fantastically spiced as well! Another awesome plus: the brisket sauce is just about the BEST I’ve ever had in my history of KBBQ experiences. Seriously. I could mainline that stuff. Downsides: don’t expect the world in terms of banchan. No rice paper, no daikon rounds, no potato salad, no dried fish, no tofu, no broccoli. But the side salads are pretty tasty. There is a big selection of meat, and maybe I’m misjudging the value — but it just didn’t seem like a lot for the amount we were paying. I could be wrong though. Definitely worth it for the high quality of meat. But the #1 redeeming quality may in fact be their mango flavored soju. Dangerously fruity, deceivingly strong, damned fine and delicious. We definitely got our money’s worth and then some with the soju cocktail. Picnic tables, tiny camping grills, half-outside half-inside, and very VERY popular with the Korean community — comforting eating and drinking-wise, but not too comfortable with the hard surfaces and awkward air circulation. Would I come back here? Maybe for the soju. Otherwise I think I’m sticking with Mo Ran Gak in Garden Grove for my go-to non-AYCE KBBQ joint of choice.

I liked this place. I liked that it had this patio/family picnic sort of vibe. The food was great — I’m a pork belly fan six ways to Sunday. The only complaint I have [hence the 3 stars] is that they don’t have fish cakes or rice paper. What Korean place doesn’t have fish cakes or rice papers? No bueno in my book. That’s like having a burger joint without mustard or ketchup. Anyway, this place is definitely a place I would go back to. Thumbs up.

Best pork belly in town! I bring everyone here when they visit and i can say that 95% of my buddies like it with the occasional few that don’t like pork belly. Other than that, the pork belly is on point! Not the regular AYCE Korean BBQ, but that just means one thing: Food is quality here! Def. stop by this place if you are a pork belly fan, because I can tell you that you won’t have any pork belly better than this place.

This is a great place. I went here with a friend recently because this other Korean BBQ place we were supposed to go to was booked for hours and we didn’t have a reservation. Thankfully we found this gem! The staff was super friendly and really efficient even though there just seemed to be two people serving the whole place. They were very attentive to our table and would occasionally run over and flip whatever we were cooking and advise us on times and cooking colors. My friend and I ordered the brisket and wine marinated pork belly. Everything was very tasty and I love outdoor dining so being on the patio was perfect. The sides and sauces were also very good. Fun, casual place.

One word– Amazing! Very cozy, fun open seating outside, friendly, good vibe. The meat and sides are good, but I have had better. The atmosphere keeps us going back for more.

We went here for dinner the other night. I had seen the reviews here on Unilocal and thought we should give it a try. There were six of us — including two little kids. The eating area is mostly on a covered patio, so we were seated at a large picnic table. The only problem we had with the place is that people were smoking on the patio. Since that is the only place to sit, you don’t have a whole lot of options. They brought the food quickly and we cooked. The waitress kept coming over and telling us to eat because the food was getting a little burnt. The bon chon was okay, the beef was very good, the short ribs were just ok, and the chicken was pretty good. The place is definitely family run. The people were really nice to my son when he showed them he could count to ten in Korean. I will go back in the future. It is not as nice as some of the places in KTown, but it is good for a local place.

The food is excellent and the price unbeatable(for a Korean BBQ). Good selection of Korean foods(specially for people that are not connoisseurs) and banchan. Not a lot of meat but AYCE on anything else — kimchi, sprouts, banchan, rice. Totally recommend. You’re simply not going to find a better deal for K-BBQ

Ayla E. suggested this place when I asked her where she’d like to go for her birthday dinner. I’m all for KBBQ! This place is a la carte so don’t get your ACYE panties in a bunch. The Patio is in a little strip mall area on Newport and Walnut in Tustin. The place is small and reminds me of a small enclosed picnic area with the brick and table setup. The grills are tilted slightly to catch all the fat drippings. I have to say that there is a considerable amount of heat coming off of the grill itself. You’ve been warned. Ayla and I ordered the prime ribeye($ 15.99) and pork belly($ 10.99) to start. The waitress, who seemed to be working by herself, brought out the banchan and meats. The service was just ok. I thought it was weird that she put the kimchi and bean sprouts on the grill. Is it supposed to be eaten warm? I like it cold. The salad wasn’t the greatest; it had lots of shredded iceberg lettuce and red cabbage mixed with a light dressing. I only like to eat iceberg lettuce on burgers. The banchan was lacking. No rice paper wraps, no sliced daikon. Just picked cabbage, pickled cuccumbers, kimchi, and picked sprouts. She brought out a steamed egg bowl. No soup. I guess that costs more? The ribeye was super tender but only two slices? Sad. I loved the pork belly which was essentially thick, long strips of unsmoked bacon. Crispy pork belly is key! We asked for steamed rice and she brought it out. The portions were enough for two skinny Asian girls. If you’re more burly, I suggest ordering more. It may not be AYCE, but it’s ok in my book. I still think that Shik Do Rak is my favorite place south of Garden Grove.

On the plus side I didn’t feel uncomfortable not being korean like at some KBBQ spots, but for the cost/quality here I’d really rather just do it myself. The galbi wasn’t particularly well marinated and the chicken is cheap leg meat. For the price of a meal here, you could instead get yourself one of these: And one of these: Then head on over to HMart in Irvine(2600 Alton Pkwy) for some far higher quality meats(like pre-marinated ribeye) on the cheap. In fact you could probably find the grill pan and portable range at HMart too. It’s korean bbq, so you’re doing it yourself anyway! All the restaurants provide is cheesy music and some dishwashers.

I had this place bookmarked to try when I was going through my countertop remodeling. My sister and I finally came here to try it. We came around 5:30pm since some Unilocal reviews said it can get very busy. It’s not AYCE but what appeals to us is that we are eating in a patio. As a result, no ventilation needed in fact, we don’t smell at all. It’s pleasant. This place is pricy comparing to other KBBQ places. Between my sister and I, we ordered chadol, ribeye and galbi. We both thought their chadol was just OK. But, ribeye and galbi were very good. The staff is very friendly. She forgot to bring up some dipping sauce but when we let her know, she promptly brought it out. If you have more than 6 people in your party, most likely you would need to split into two tables. I personally think 4 will be good but 6 people might be a bit too cozy.

I think that this place was where I had my first experience with KBBQ and it got me hooked. The prices are ridiculously low and the meat seems to be a pretty good quality and tasty. You are not offered quite as many side dishes as other places, but again, for the price, I have no complaints. Service is nice, but can be hit or miss. They never bring the rice unless I ask for it and getting some water can be difficult. But I really like the rustic quality of the patio and the casualness of it. Technically, it is outdoors, so people may be smoking around you. But they have heaters, so it is comfortable, temperature-wise. I have been a few times and have really enjoyed my meals here!

The Patio, Even though it wasn’t AYCE, the meat, the service, was pretty damn good. Love eating in a «Patio» because you don’t have to get up out of your seat to smoke! Met the owner, really nice guy. Need to come back soon! KBBQFTW.

It’s called the Patio because well… you eat at the Patio. It’s closed off with heat lamps though so don’t fret about freezing your little bums off. Not the worst. But not the best Korean BBQ place I’ve been to. The service was great but the meat was a bit off. I’ve had better quality meat somewhere else. I probably won’t come back here right away. Thought their grill was cool though. It was tilted with a saucer at the end to catch all the dripping fat and oil.

First time here as well. Seen and wanted to try it. Owner/staff is very friendly. Standard K-fare menu. Tried the Galbi and Bulgogi. First off, this place needs more side dishes with the meal. Salad is fine, Kim Che is also ok. The Bulgogi lacked a bit of flavor and the meat was ok, but I’ve had better. The Galbi on the other hand was pretty good. Not over seasoned and the meat quality was better than ok. Overall, would do it again, but it’s not my top choice in OC. Still, worth a try.

The Patio is basically that… a patio where you can eat yummy korean bbq. It’s nice that the tables for cooking your food are outdoors, so that you don’t come out smelling too much like you just stepped out of a fire. I ate here last night with my bf because it was late and not much else is open. They’re open until 10 and we got there five minutes to 10, so we were just going to see if they’d let us order something to go. They not only let us order, but insisted we stay and dine in. A man who seemed like he was the owner, gave us some suggestions on what to order. We played it safe and got an order of bulgogi and some kind of soup that starts with a ‘d’ that he said was like korean miso soup. To start off they give you pickled veggies, a big salad, kimchi, and steamed egg. The dressing on the salad was light and tasty. The steamed egg came out piping hot and was good too. I can’t say much about the kimchi since I’m not a huge fan. The bulgogi was pretty standard. It was yummy and came with mushrooms which is cool. The soup was full of flavor and had veggies and tofu in it. It came out extremely hot and was great for the cold night. I will be back to try more items!
