Father & Son Moving & Storage

I used them in 2014 and liked them so much that I used them again last week. They were on time, efficient, and professional. Hopefully, I’m done with moving, but if I had to move again, I wouldn’t hesitate to call them.

The guys at this company are amazing. I was using another mover and they scratched up all my furniture. These guys came in and wrapped everything and made sure all was protected. They were patient and professional. Very reasonable rates too.

We were recommended to Father and Sons Movers by a friend who recently moved in the area. Their bid was not the lowest, but between my friend and the Unilocal reviews, I liked what I heard and they got the job. Jose and his team showed up on time. They treated my stuff with great care, wrapping everything in moving blankets and shrink wrap. And the move came off without a hitch, NO DAMAGE!!! The team was very helpful with things that may not be considered part of the regular move. Overall, each man on the team was very polite and very professional. Definitely a 5 star move.

This is the second time I’ve used Father & Son movers. This should have been a pretty simple move. I moved into the apartment directly above the old one, with the same floor plan. There is a staircase right next to the apartments and an elevator next to that. The two guys who moved me were both great guys. Their English was perfect, they were bright, accommodating and both had a sense of humor. They couldn’t have been better guys. In fact I think they were both over-​qualified to be movers — but that’s none of my business. The guys pointed out potential problems I hadn’t anticipated. We had a complication when we discovered a plumbing problem with the water supply valve at the refrigerator that needed to be disconnected (I was swapping the refrigerators). Maintenance needed to be called and the guys ended having to stand around for over an hour. They were patient and good humored about it. No complaints or bugging me about needing to leave. I couldn’t be happier with the movers or Father & Son.

These were the best movers I have ever hired. They were on time, nice and FAST! They moved my 4 bedroom house to my new location another 4 bedroom house in about 6 hours. My new house is about 14 miles away They wrapped everything and nothing got damaged. They came in under their quote as well! Very good value, and my back does not hurt.

I’d never hired movers before but I have pretty heavy furniture and I knew I was going to have a ton of boxes, so I felt like it was worth it. My research on services tends to start with friend recommendations. My old neighbor had told me about Father & Son so I checked it out and was really happy with the rates. Of course the fact that it came highly recommended from someone in my complex was a big seller– it’s elevator and a long, long walk from my unit to the elevator so I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy.
I emailed through the website to get my estimate and was responded to by the Move Manager Mike, within the hour which was awesome. I setup a day and time slot within my first conversations– which were all by email, which is easier for me. I received immediate responses on all of my inquiries and I was given all the details/​questions up front. I had been concerned about the size and weight of my furniture so I measured it and took some pictures just to be sure. From that they were able to set me up with the right truck size and amount of movers to send, which was just 2.
I received an hour window slot the day before my move and the 2 movers, Miguel and Jose arrived right at the half way mark. They introduced themselves to me and walked me through the paperwork to go over the details, etc. Miguel handled all of that, then assessed the rooms, I went over what stayed and what was going (I had a roommate who was not moving out). they paid close attention to that list, because I didn’t even have to remind them. I showed them the ‘beast’ dresser I have and they didn’t even seem to be concerned which was impressive because it’s enormous and heavy but they got it out and into my new place no problem, and worked together so well to get it into my new home. They took all the boxes and stuff first and then started with the furniture. They carefully unassembled my bed and wrapped all of my tv’s and pictures. They also had complimentary wardrobe boxes (AMAZING) so I just loaded up my closet in a bunch of them. They even brought me extras for the linens that were on my bed. I cannot tell you how easy those boxes made it for my clothes. I am not sure how I had ever moved without them all this time.
They arrived at my new home and assessed the space, asked where and how I wanted things placed and went to work! I was completely impressed with the unloading– it’s definitely easier than the building I moved out of because there is not elevator but it’s never easy and these guys got it done in no time. Before I turned around they had my entire bed assembled and the mattress and boxspring (which they have very, very diligently wrapped up) were placed on the bed ready for it to be made!
Hiring this moving company was the best decision I made– I felt like I was treated so well by the management and the movers– they were very polite and professional. I still can’t believe how fast they worked and and yet were so careful with all of my prized possessions. If I have to move again I will definitely be calling them. I highly recommend Father & Son Moving to anyone looking!

Hubby and I were considering moving and so, of course, i started researching movers. I was drawn to this company because, of course, who wouldn’t love a small business working in the big bad city of Los Angeles? Honestly, I didn’t believe it was a small business, I thought it was a big bad business who had bought out a mom and pop, or some sociopaths who set up a business to run off with my collection of Tchotchkes instead of storing them, so I decided to stop by and do my own recon. Because I’m crazy like that.
First, I drove by their facility for about half an hour to see if the workers seem happy or angry/​frustrated. That usually tells me if the company is treating their employees well. These guys were practically jolly. I stopped one of the guys leaving work and started grilling him. I’m usually pretty easy to talk to: I’m young, female, and am usually driving around in a Mini Cooper with two fluffy, vicious poodles in car seats in the car. What’s not to love?
Anyways, I finally cornered a guy leaving work for the day, so I started grilling him. the guy had worked there for over a decade. At the end of his shift he seemed happy and calm, not like the normal movers’ employees who are frustrated and underpaid and treated unfairly. This guy had nothing but nice things to say about the owners and bosses.
Next step was to see the facility. I don’t know what I expected to see, but at least half of what I expected to see was some crazy guys prancing around with customers underwear on their heads. using their Waterford crystals for step aerobics. Or maybe using a customer’s spanx collection for slingshot practice. sometimes my imagination gets the best of me. :-?
What I saw was a young guy, very respectfully dressed, no underwear on his head. This was Michael, and the poor guy recognized me (because I had called several times with random questions like «have you ever sold customers items on the black market?») he kindly and patiently gave me a tour of the place and I was so impressed. It is MASSIVE facility, and is so well organized. Every massive container has a giant printout with the customer name, number and contents listed on it. The guy even came out to say hi to my poodles (who subsequently tried to kill him.)
This place met every one of my ridiculous expectations. They are a small business, with a well established reputation, and they treat their employees fairly and have a low turnover rate. That tells me they know what they’re doing, and they’re doing it well. worth my money.

This is part one of an eventual two part review. The reason for this is because this review covers the move and storage from our Stevenson Ranch home.
The (eventual) second part of this review, to be completed in the Winter of 2015, will cover the move to our home in Nipomo.
We received estimates from AQMS and Father and Sons. Mike (F&S) provided me with the estimate. As there was a substantial difference in AQMS’s favor, Mike «sharpened his pencil» and reduced his bid by $ 400. Additionally, I felt more comfortable with the professionalism Mike had.
Our moving team this morning (Miguel, Luis and Jose) are here, as I am typing this, methodically and carefully boxing and wrapping our furniture.
Now, we are not moving «virgins». No, Sir!
This is probably out 10^th move in 37 years.
That being said, this is probably the easiest and least stressful move we have ever had. The moving team is experienced and careful in all steps of the process. Clearly, this is not their first rodeo!
The key will be what, if any, damage our furniture suffers in the six months it is in storage and then reunited with us. There are several steps here: loading our furniture onto the moving truck, offloading to storage, loading back onto the truck and then sipping to us and finally offloading.
There are numerous things that can go horribly wrong. However, if the balance of the move is this uneventful, I look forward to being reunited with my undamaged furniture!

Super professional, polite, courteous and hard working. No hesitation — wasted no time. Amazing how fast they worked but were still very careful with our furniture, art, family photos, appliances, etc. No damage.
We had three guys help move our place, and I think they had more than 40 years combined experience. They had any supplies and tools that we were missing to keep the move smooth. Total professionals.

I highly recommend this moving company and am so thankful I called Father & Son. I even called them the afternoon they Day Before my sister and I wanted to move the major things. The lady and the man on the phone were very Polite and Helpful. Me and my sister were moving out of my parents house into an apartment of our own. The 2 men showed up ready to work in the morning. They greeted my parents and my sister and I politely and carefully moved everything into their moving truck. I called because I wanted PROs to move our precious small upright piano and sowing machine station CAREFULLY and that’s EXACTLY what they did. They were gave honest opinions about moving things and made our HUGE Fridge somehow fit in our small apartment. Everything was moved within the 4 hour minimum. Love those 2 men. I would definitely use this company again.

From the very beginning Michael was amazing and helpful with everything. Then our move was super smooth and the three guys were very fast and friendly. They made sure everything was safe and protected, even an old antique piece that means a lot to me. I would recommend them over everyone else. Well, well, Michael and he’s company father and son, one word, fantastic…
I have called father and son company about 3 weeks prior my moving date, and I have talked with Morin, she’s together with Michael the principal’s of the company, she was very kind, understanding and helpfull for every questions I had, she listen to learn not because she need it to answer back, if you know what I mean.
Then Michael promptly called me back few days later confirming all the arrangements we have had made for the moving date, he also was not just a gentleman but a highly-​qualified professional person and he made sure that our conversation would reflect the promises that we all aspect as a consumers.
Finally when he’s staff showed up to move us I was indeed surprised the 3 man Michael sent to me were clean, happy, fast, educated and I can talk about them the all day, but I’m sure you got the point.
There are times in life that with a little bit of respect and dignity for the person viewed as a such instead of another dollar opportunity, that would Make all the difference and it would indeed be a benefit for the soul and the future health of the business it self.

I made the cross-​country move from North Hollywood, CA back to Michigan, and these guys were BEYOND helpful to me. My initial quote was considerably lower than what I had gotten from another company, and after reading other reviews from other customers [and talking to them on the phone], I knew they were the right guys to go with.
My move out date was on Jan 7^th and they were going to be there in the morning — I was coming back from my New Years vacation on Jan 6^th… that was until flights were delayed, and I got stuck in an airport over night. Lucky for me, with some help from my awesome roommates who packed up some of my remaining stuff, and another roommate who was able to let the movers in in the morning, they just went ahead and packed up all the rest of my stuff for me and loaded everything onto their truck while I wished I could brush my teeth and stressed about life.
When I finally got back to California hours late, with an almost dead phone, playing phone tag with these guys and having both my dad and roommate communicate with them about a few things, they had done an AWESOME JOB to pack up my sorry ass.
All of my boxes arrived in the polar vortex of Michigan last Friday morning [just after 9am, like they said] — and after they unloaded into my garage in maybe a half hour, I guess my punishment was having to carry things out to my barn myself. My dogs were not helpful.
Would definitely recommend these guys and THANK YOU for everything!

I used these guys in Van Nuys, to move from my packed 25 foot storage into a 26 foot tuck before my move.
It took 3 guys 2 hours to move my already boxed stuff. It was on a saturday and I had to pay a minimum of 4 hrs, I guess it was pricey, but my stuff is worth it. About 500 plus 100 tip.
They skillfully tetris-​ed and lifted all my heavy and prized possessions in that truck, there wasnt an inch to spare. And after a 6 hour drive I unpacked, and not a single thing was broken or scratched.
Made a really stressful time for me waaaaaay less stressful.

I don’t always move, but when I do, I hate it. Ok so I decided to give Father & Son a try since they got good Unilocal reviews and they gave me a decent deal, which is pretty standard ($ 85 for 2 man group, $ 115 for 3).
Of course I picked the hottest and most humid day of the year to move, but these guys made it worth it. Jose was the main guy in the crew and was great to work with. He’s a nice guy that’s actually pretty funny and did a great job of explaining everything, supplying extra supplies (wardrobe boxes & tape), and did a great job wrapping everything so nothing got damaged during the move. Him and his team arrived on time, were very professional, and were seriously hauling ass. The wife and I have a ton of stuff and they moved everything from start to finish in around 6 hours.

I will only use Father and Son Moving and Storage for my moves. I’ve used movers in San Diego and in the Valley before and these guys were head and shoulders above any other moving company I have used in the past.
They were super fast, efficient and careful. They never stopped moving but were polite and made an extremely stressful day okay.

We had these guys move us from Calabasas to Simi Valley and they were first class in every way. On time very fast and efficient in wrapping and handling all our furniture. We feel we were lucky to have Miguel and Jose as they were great. Wouldn’t consider anyone else.
