History

Established in 1978.

Cascade Flooring America opened its doors on August 3rd, 1978 when Cindy Severson realized that she could offer both better service and lower prices than the other flooring stores. 37 years later, many of her original customers are still buying from Cascade Flooring America. Only now, Cascade’s customers are not limited to flooring, they can also purchase slab countertops and Hunter Douglas window treatments, feeling confident that they will receive the same level of boutique service at value pricing that they’ve come to expect.

in 2003 Cindy made her son, Sunny a partner in the business. Their combination of experiences, together with their respect for customers and employees, resulted in the need to build their State-​of-​the-​Art showroom in Hazel Dell.

From its humble beginnings to its current standing as the largest showroom in Clark County, Cascade Flooring America, LLC is proof of how a commitment to a dream and fellowship with a community can profit everyone.

Cindy started this company in 1978 with little more than a knowledge of the industry (from an installation point of view), a small corner in a stationery store for her office, and a huge desire to make her customers’ homes beautiful for a reasonable price. One of her greatest talents lies in taking the existing along with the new and pulling everything together. Her number one goal has always been to make sure her customers are happy.

Family is one of Cindy’s greatest joys. You can see the happiness in her eyes when she is surrounded with kids, grandkids and a gaggle of pets.

I spent hours researching companies and getting recommendations for someone to replace our kitchen, entry way, hallway, and powder room floors. We chose Cascade Flooring and had very high expectations due to great recommendations. But we were sorely disappointed in the way they handled their own scheduling error and the complaints we had about the installer’s hurried careless demolition of our tile floor. We were promised from Adam, our sales person, that the install would be a one day job including the demo of our tile entry way, hallway, and powder room. We both took a day off work to be available for the installer. We demoed our own kitchen floor and removed all the furniture and appliances the night before in preparation. Adam told us the installer would be there no later than 0900. So we waited and waited. Finally at 1030, we called and we weren’t even on the schedule and the installer had the day off! The story we got is that they changed software at the end of the year and our appointment didn’t transfer. Yeah, right! They finally got hold of the installer and kudos to him, he and his brother were at our house by 12:30. They started with the tile demo, but I think they were pressured to make up time as they were not careful with the demo and left layers of dust everywhere! It took hours for us to clean our home from all the dust that night. They returned for another full day for the install. All we got from this company were multiple apologies and no discount for our time and trouble. That would have gone a long ways to make us believers and hire them again for the rest of the flooring work that we need. Because they refused to make it right, we will be looking elsewhere for our future needs. But in the end, the floor looks beautiful, thanks to the installers. They really did a good job with the actual install and I will recommend them privately to anyone who wants to know. Next time, we will stick with the box stores for our product and will just hire them.

I had a fairly small backslash project to complete my kitchen renovation. I chose cascade because they seemed to have good reviews. This was a huge mistake. The project that was estimated to be a day to install, and half a day to grout ended up taking 3 weeks. The constant lack of communication, and mis information was truly incredible. The contractor did half the job then disappeared. Next day added a tiny section of tile And there were a few cracked tiles, mis matched seams, and shoddy work. I called the store and they claimed they «couldn’t get a hold of him» for days and offered no explanation or solution. When I was then told he would be back to finish up the next week, he showed up & did another section and then once again left. After me calling store again for explanation I was told they messed up the tile order and needed to order more product. That added another week till tile arrived. Meanwhile they somehow messed up my electric circuits in kitchen so I was left w/​1 working outlet in kitchen for weeks. After another week, and a day and a half of work the project was completed. Do you think anyone from store called to follow up? Never again.

I would like to say what a wonderful experience I’ve had with Cascade Flooring. 2 months ago my wife and I purchased a house that needed extensive work before move in. We needed new carpet and our hard woods refinished. Barry came out and measured everything and was very upbeat and friendly. They were very flexible with the timeline we had and had someone out the day we requested. The installer was very professional and did a great job on our carpet.
Our hardwoods were just completed today and look absolutely amazing. Val, who did the hardwoods was also very professional, friendly and kept us in the «loop». You just don’t find this kind of service anymore, and it’s refreshing to see that it’s still out there. We are very pleased with how everything turned out and will be using Cascade Flooring for our future remodeling needs.

My contractor worked with these people the first time we used them and everything seemed to go smoothly. I would have given them a 5 then. When I worked directly with them, it was challenging so here are a few tips. If or when they get a computer system that allows them to write notes on the conversations, things will be so much better.
TIP 1: You need to go there in person, talk with one person only. Do NOT talk to another soul, if the person you are working with is not there.
I was waffling back and forth between having one or all the bedrooms done. I didn’t make it clear that I wanted them all measured so I could get a quote.
TIP 2: Use email. It would have been better if we had an email conversation about this. They came out and measured one bedroom, then had to return to measure them all
A few days passed and I wanted to get a quote and get scheduled. I called them and they asked who I was working with — I had no idea. Everyone was very nice and wanted to help but couldn’t find anything on my house.
TIP 3: Get the name of the people you are working with and write them down.
TIP 4: The 100% cash up front is not just so they can pay their contractor and supplier. They also want the extra money to cover the running of the debit.
They gave me a quote with several possible discounts. I wanted as many as I could get. I let them know I would be home several weeks from that date in order to move furniture etc. And they scheduled me for a Tues. Then my credit card disappeared (my fault). My bank is out of town but I drove there got the debit replacement and called them with the number. They charged me what was on my contract.
This is the kicker — Ethics. The next day the owner said that she couldn’t find my credit card information and wanted me to text it to her home cell — weird right? I texted back that I didn’t like to text that to someone’s private phone. She called me from her company phone so I gave it to her again. I got an email back and said because I didn’t sign the contract (something you could do if you went in person) they wanted an additional $ 130 because instead of giving them cash I used my debit. What? Isn’t debit same as cash. It works that way in the grocery store but not for flooring. She said she tried to run my card again for the extra money but it didn’t go through — WHAT! Who just runs someone’s credit card for an extra $ 130 without getting their approval first. I did see that she called to let me know she was running it again. I would have preferred she got my ok before she just ran it. Luckily it didn’t go through and we cancelled our order.

I am updating this ongoing fiasco with this company. I did not go with Cascade as my first review stated. Here some months later, after getting my flooring resolved [by another «great company to work with’] I have had to finish up my claim with my Ins. My adjuster asked me if I could give him the three bids I obtained, I said yes I would try. I have misplaced my Cascade paper-​work. I believe I round-​filed them after my experience with them. I noticed that the business manager took the opportunity to «COMMENT» on my review of the person I dealt with, who IS THE OWNER, I find out. So, I called and spoke to a very nice young woman and explained my problem and asked if she could email me my «quotes». After looking up my info, she was perplexed what she should email as there were «6 separate» BID QUOTES. All with different amounts. I told her I only need the last one that was very «wordy» telling me what they would and would not do for the money and that if they had to «touch» any thing to move it for their purposes to lay flooring, it would cost $ 65. per/​hr. I told the young woman the last bid was fine as long as it had the paper attached that quoted the 65. per/​hr charge.
Well, No EMAIL ever was sent. I called the Store and asked for the Store Manager [who managed to place an addendum to my Unilocal Comment} and she explained to me that they had discussed my request and decided they were not obligated to help me out with that paper work.
So they were NOT sending it. I said thank-​you .thinking once again this is just another reason for not using them and I call into question their honesty and integrity as a Business in Clark County and the Greater Portland Metro area.
This attitude of that they are above the common fray is so prevalent at that store I cannot imagine how she has stayed in business. Of course I imagine it is the «40+million dollar individuals they work with daily, «who do not ‘fact check’ their bottom line that does it.

Wow… I highly recommend this place. I recently had some carpet installed to complete my restoration project. Paul came out and measured and even went to bat for me with the insurance appraiser. The installer did a beautiful job also. I couldn’t be happier.

We’ve been doing business with Cascade for 20 years. Tried to order a tile job for a tub surround. My regular sales person was on vacation so they gave me a sales person who was brand new to the company. She couldn’t find our account on the computer. Wouldn’t go get someone to help her. Finally found the account and the last job that was exactly the same as the one I was trying to get scheduled. The next day I received a phone call and told I could take my business elsewhere because this salesperson was cryong when I left.
So I have and will never darken their business again nor refer anyone to them again.
Went to Contract Furnishings Mart and wished I had done this sooner. Got much better pricing too.

I could never recommend this company. Their sub contractors started our bathroom 4 months ago and it’s still not completed. You would think for $ 30,000 the company would make sure the job would be completed on time. I was told it would take 1 month. How long should it take to put a new shower, flooring and marble in a bathroom. This company is lots of talk but no action!!! I have been promised over and over again it would be done… I’m still waiting. …

I am overjoyed with the work that Wendy Olin did in helping me select flooring and tile. She listened, provided wonderful suggestions and the outcome was just beautiful! She has a background in design, so you are getting a professional who knows the stock and has a great deal of style. Their team who did the installation, Lance and Scott, were professional, helpful and even went the extra mile for us! They worked hard to get the job done on time for my plumber’s arrival.
The store itself has a great deal of choices in many different price categories, so whether you are doing your humble home or the castle, they have everything you may need and Wendy will listen and provide wonderful guidance. The order was perfectly done along with schematics as to where everything was going.
I am a Realtor and would not hesitate to refer my clients to them for their upgrading needs.

We’d had some flooring work done by a local competitor last winter. Materials were fine but installation was so-​so at best. Carpet seams were excellent in highly viewable areas and downright pathetic in out-​of-​the-​way spots like between bed and walls, closets, etc.
We had one small project remaining; the floor of our guest bathroom. I called Cascade Flooring and described what we needed. Since we live close by, I drove right over and met «Paul» (Edwards) at the store. Although the amount of material needed guaranteed that this would be a low profit job, Paul treated me like I was going to spend millions. He sent me off with samples that his eagle eye predicted would work well.
Sure enough, Paul’s #1 choice was «it» so I emailed him immediately. He was at my door in 40 minutes to measure the job. I received an emailed bid from him 30 minutes after he departed! I drove to the store, confirmed the details and paid the deposit. I was given a firm install date twelve days out due to the time needed to acquire the baseboard material.
Installer Tyreena arrived exactly on time on the appointed day. In under two hours, she completed a truly masterful job. She even correctly affixed some «un-​stuck» baseboards that were improperly installed by the competitor in another area of our home. I told her to not worry about doing a pristine clean up. It’s a room that we don’t use and I offered to grab my Dirt Devil or connect the central vac hose. No way! Tyreena polished the entire job site like it was her personal kitchen counter.
This was truly a dream come true from start to finish and all due to the customer service quality of Cascade. My only regret is not being able to turn back the clock six months so that they could have done all of our upgrades.

We have just completed a remodel of our kitchen and our bathrooms. From the first time that we walked into Cascade Flooring, we were impressed with the expertise and the customer service that we experienced with Paul Edwards. Paul really cared about us and our selections and he took the time to work with us to gain a sense of what was important for my husband and me. Then, we met his daughter Jewels Kirby and what at team they are! Working with both Paul and Jewels, there was always at least one of them available whenever I called or came into the store.
The selection of our slab and our backsplashes was actually fun.
The subs that Cascade works with are fantastic. We were lucky to get Serg Zabolotskey and his crew. They are all experts in their field and we enjoyed having them in our home.
We live close to Cascade Flooring and I’ve driven by their store a bunch. I had no idea that they did countertops until I Goggled «countertops Vancouver WA» and Casade popped up at the top. I really think they should rename their business «Cascade Flooring and a Whole Bunch More».
We will use them again in the future whenever we can.

I have been so disappointed in the company. The customer service has been horrible. I would never use this company again. We’ve experience far better service at Lowes. From the moment we walked in the door the salesman was rude and acted like we were bothering him! The installation of the flooring and counters was so, so. Lowes did a much better job when we used them. We will NOT use this company again.

I have been using this company for many years at my building in Oregon. They were great for many years however the last 3 times they have been horrible. The company rescheduled me 2 – 3 times for such a small job. Every time this company tells me they are coming they never show anymore and I cant stand that. There sub contractors for the most part are pretty good but there office staff is terrible and non responsive…

My husband and I bought a house last year. Before moving in, we knew we wanted to rip out the carpet on the main floor. We had some ideas of what we wanted as far as flooring went, but cascade flooring helped us to make some great decisions. My husband had done some research and found that stranded bamboo was a good choice, much harder and more durable than the oak hardwood we had in our last place. We got a fabulous product, the bamboo that we wanted with the distressed look that we love.
The price was comparable to what we would have paid at a box store, and the service was much better. Their contractors are awesome. We put in our order and had our hardwood floors installed a week later. They installed over 800 ft.2 of bamboo flooring in one day.
They did such a good job transitioning from tile to the new wood flooring, that we didn’t even need the T joints (I think that is what they are called). So, we ended up spending less than the bid. That is never bad thing. Plus, because they were able to install the whole floor in one day, we were able to start moving in our furniture early. All around, a good experience.

I’ve been hating on my carpet for the past four and a half years. Upon realizing that I’m not moving anytime soon, the carpet had to go. I mean one of us had to go… and it was not going to be me.
Cascade Flooring had an overwhelming selection of floor coverings. Everything from carpet to recycled materials to gorgeous stone and hardwoods. I was overwhelmed. I am not an interior designer. I can barely dress myself coherently. So, imagine exactly HOW overwhelmed I was.
Thankfully, the staff was attentive, knowledgeable and patient. I walked out with three samples to take home and place around my house to help with my decision-​making.
I returned the next day and met the owner who had started this business out of her garage in the mid-70’s. She was down-​to earth, sincere and wanted to make sure my needs were being met. I placed my order on Sat. and my carpet was in the following week. Within three days, I had new carpet installed in my home.
The entire process was seamless from start to finish. They offer a discount if you pay by cash or check. Fresh popcorn and beverages are available in the showroom, as well as, an area for children to hang while their parents shop.
A very well run business. :)
