Used to come in all the time then about a year ago there was a change of ownership or something now nobody from our shop goes back. Prices are to high for what it is and being a white guy from the Midwest I feel my orders were sometimes«lost in translation». Meaning not getting exactly what I wanted. There Carne is a little to dry for me and seemed to change up a lot

Barbacoa is rich, flavorful, and served with the kind touch of the owner himself. An excellent surprise in san Marcos.

I’ve worked in the same little industrial complex as this place for the past year, and since it was my last day on the job my boss and I walked over for lunch. I’m so we did! The food is great, the restaurant is clean, and the owner is super friendly. I got a MASSIVE plate of chilaquiles for $ 8. Will definitely come back!

I would not say the Torta was giant but it was a value and they had many Torta options that were in my price range, they also had some premium Tortas that were just out of my price range but sounded good. Either way the green and red sauce they sent me out the door with made a good Torta the best ive had! maybe i was just starving. Worth the stop yo

This place is good. Meal comes with chips and salsa if you eat in. Waiter is nice. I had a carne asada burrito.

I dunno I ordered the«torta gigante» it was $ 8.40 something + tax, and it was nothing special. Not big at all, and very little meat. I also tried the grilled chicken torta it was super dry and again not big at all, very little meat. For the area I mean there are much better places at least from my experience. Albertaco gives you twice as much meat for a lower price…

I was up in the area to get a smog check and thought I’d try this place out while I wait. It’s in an area that I’m not too familiar with and it looks more like a business park than being a place for Mexican food. The menu was extensive, and I didn’t have Unilocal around, so I ordered a carne asada burrito. The burrito was a little smaller than most burritos in SD, and I was a little worried, but it could be a good thing since most burritos in SD are big enough for 2. After the first bite, I was addicted. Fresh made tortilla with thin, well marinated carne asada, and a cheese from heaven. The guacamole was a little runny, but perfect. While the burrito was a little smaller, it was still perfect. The house made hot sauce was an added bonus. I live probably 45 minutes away, but anytime I’m up in that neck of the woods, I’ll be sure to stop by. I am still dreaming about the damn thing.

If you want a torta, this place rocks. I was in the hood today, and I got hungry. I wanted some good food and World Cup action. Elephant Bar? Nah… Pizza? Ugh… La Torta Gigante! I got my favorite: carne asada torta. It’s not like other places that give you a bunch of chopped meat that either falls out of the sandwich or gives you a couple of bites of second-grade meat. This place slaps on the steak in it’s entirety with some beans, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, and toasted bread. On the side are some tasty jalapenos and carrots if you’re into that(I’m not, so I’m basing it on another’s opinion). Top it off with a bottle of Jarritos, and I’m good to go. I’ve also had the Cubana. Very good option as well. And I have to say, when it comes to tortas, I’ve had to put up with more bullsh*t over these with my friends than anything else. «No, I know where the best tortas are.» Yeah right! Bigger doesn’t mean better. Come here for a real torta. Chilanga approved!(Ok… it’s my cousin.)

Taste: 5 Value: 4 Service: 5 In my exploration of North County San Diego, I came across La Torta Gigante as an taqueria with great food in a diverse menu. I had the Torta Cubana which is a torta that has all their meats in a single sandwich. I don’t know everything that I was eating, but I do know that it was delicious. A few tables down, a customer was enjoying an whole fried fish(tilapia) and a beer and tomato mixed drink whose name escapes me right now. That majority of the signs and menu is in Spanish, but the cashier spoke fluent English, making it easy to order. I’ll definitely try the fish next time I go back!

what can i say but DAMN i love this place. its right around the corner from my studio, and they have a Huge menu. i have yet to find one thing i haven’t liked. also, on weekends the taco cart is out front serving up deeeeeelicious street tacos. and they have the good(mexican recipe) coke in real glass bottles! i recommend the giant wet burritos, street tacos(any meat), and the carnitas.
