Bernetta’s Place Inn by the Lake

My husband and I stayed here last night. Bernetta is a doll and makes a killer breakfast… Yum! We will definitely be back. We love this place!

New Paltz has become a home away from home for my girlfriend and myself. We randomly discovered this awesome little town (only two hours away from the city) 3 yrs ago when we began dating. It was in fact our first trip away together and we fell in love.
Its because of Bed and Breakfasts like Bernettas that make New Paltz an ideal weekend get away. The tranquility and slow pace is exactly what we look for when leaving the hustle and bustle of NYC.
We visited Bernettas for a weekend in September. It was a special weekend because it was my gf birthday and I planned to ask her to marry me. I informed Bernetta before booking the room and she was so helpful to talk to. Luckily she had the Attic Room available for us to stay. When we arrived the grounds were beautiful. I had the the whole trip planned and was a bit nervous but arriving at this beautiful house helped ease my nerves. The room was so much more than we expected. It was seperated from the main building and was such an awesome space. We even had our very own outdoor shower.
There is also a pool, jacuzzi, basketball hoop and great trails to walk around. Our stay was perfect. The house is close to wineries and 15 minutes from center of town. The next morning we were greeted with a delicious breakfast and became friends with the rest of the people in the house, a lot who were revisiting. Thank you Bernetta for being apart of our special weekend and we will be back for a longer stay!

I just returned home from a two-​night stay at Bernetta’s Place and I’m already planning my next visit! Bernetta has thought of everything and creates an environment in which you won’t want to leave! Every single thing about this B&B was incredible but highlights include: the absolutely delicious breakfasts, salt water pool, hot tub, pristine grounds and all the heavenly places to put your feet up and relax.
I also have to add that Bernetta’s hospitality and willingness to go above and beyond were evident as she accommodated my boyfriend’s vegan diet in every possible way. She didn’t make a small substitution here or there, she created meals that were just as amazingly delicious and elaborate as the non-​vegan meals.
Thank you to Bernetta and her daughter for making our weekend getaway so special. We will certainly be back and next time we will bring Rootie, the pup!!!

Bernetta’s Place is nothing less than spectacular. The breakfast is to die for, and the house and surrounding area are ideal for getting away and utterly relaxing.
We were lucky enough to have the entire house to ourselves, so Bernetta just asked us when we would like breakfast during our stay. Each morning, we were greeted by fresh brewed (and very tasty) coffee, a bowl of fresh fruit or home made granola with crème fresh, and a biscuit of some sort (corn bread, blueberry, and banana walnut). Then came breakfast, which was in the form of eggs benedict (hands down the best I have ever had), scrumptious pancakes, or french toast.
The house itself is a beautiful cabin style house with hardwood and wood beams throughout. The most striking feature, to me, was the cookie platter that was always stocked with home made chocolate chip cookies, but you might be more interested in the huge yard (for you dog to play in!), saltwater pool, hot tub, or outdoor fireplace. Lest I forget… We did not bring our dog, but we wish we did! The whole property is fenced off; perfect for letting your pet run while you relax outside. Also, there are plenty of hiking opportunities in and around the Shawagunks if you have an adventurous pet.
The most important thing to know about Bernetta’s place is that Bernetta is a wonderful and accommodating host. She really made us feel at home, and has great insight into the local area. I cannot recommend this bed and breakfast enough. Thanks Bernetta!
