Audrey’s Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast

When my boyfriend said we were going to a B & B I wasn’t so sure… It was amazing and beyond all expectations! Sally & Doug make it such a warm and welcoming place. We stayed in the Cathedral room which is so serene and romantic. It was like stepping back in time. The linens were so pristine and vibrant white. I am a sheet snob and couldn’t believe how luxurious these felt for perfect nights sleep! The fact that dogs can be a part of our special time made it even more magical. It was so great we booked again!

I recommend staying here and enjoying the spectacular interior design with a vintage post modern feel. Sally and Doug cook up some of the best breakfast you’ll ever have. Being a pet friendly B&B makes it the perfect place for you and your dog. The outdoor attractions are convenient and full of adventure. I’d book in advance as they can be in high demand.

the owners, Sally and Doug, greet you when you arrive, show you to your room (in a house that’s nearly two centuries old) and are quick to answer any questions you have about side trips and attractions in the area. The view of the mountains rising up at sunset is incredible, and when the bonfire gets going at night, you can meet some very interesting people. The guests are an eclectic mix of creative folks, honeymooners, and just people that want to get away from the noise of the city for a day or two. Far more grass than central park, and if you want to stay at the hotel for dinner they have a whole selection of nearby restaurant menus to choose from. It is pretty remote (for the New York City area) and is surrounded by grass and trees. Both pets and their owners will love the opportunity to simply let their dogs run free, and the breakfasts cooked by Doug are haute cuisine in their own right – served family style on a long table, guests from every walk of life trade conversation and stories over amazing breakfast creations. So, bring your romance, your appetite, your dog and a desire to enjoy the foothills of upstate New York. You won’t be disappointed!

We arrived late on a Friday evening, having done the short drive upstate from NYC with our dog. Doug was there in front of the massive fireplace, ready to welcome us, give us a tour, and encourage us back to the fireplace (should we want to) after we got settled in.
Having had dogs in NYC for many years, I can confirm it’s not often easy to find dog-​friendly, never mind dog– and guest-​centered weekend getaways that don’t ask you to compromise on something. But not Audrey’s Farmhouse. The Cathedral Room was perfect. The whole house and property was comfortable and visually inspiring. And the breakfast may have been the best part.
Incidentally, we loved our room so much that we wanted to replicate it at home. Sally and Doug were kind enough to provide us a «bedding package» email after we left, so we can do just that. We will return soon though because while we can replicate the bedding, there is simply no replicating the entirety of that lovely experience.

Absolutely beautiful getaway! The best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in. All dogs welcome! And Emma, wow what an amazing chef, but more importantly an amazing person who will make you feel right at home.
Also the groundskeeper is incredibly friendly and also makes you feel right at home.

I came here with my boyfriend and a bunch of friends (who came with their pups) for the weekend to celebrate his bday. We slept in the Suite room, which comes with both a tub and a separate shower. The décor through the B&B is beautiful and tasteful, and so cozy! Sally & Doug are wonderful hosts and every morning they serve up the most amazing breakfast. As some other guests have mentioned: homemade waffles with blueberry compote & fresh strawberries, grilled peaches with mint on toast, baked eggs… the list goes on! It very much changes depending on what’s in season.
All of the dogs had a blast running around and playing with each other. In general I was impressed at how well-​behaved the dogs were and how appreciative the owners were in having a B&B that is so pet-​friendly.
There is lots of hiking and natural beauty in the area. (Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park are 20 mins away.) Or you can just relax by the pool or hang out in the game room and read a book like I did. :)
PS Woodstove has a king sized bed if that’s your thing!

It was already a good omen when we pulled up and both brats jumped out of the car and darted toward the field with no fear. We were quickly greeted by the owners Sally and Doug who gave us a tour of the grounds and house and essentially gave us free reign of the property. For newcomers to the area, make sure you check out the bulletin board out front, they have listed a ton of great restaurant and things to do in the area.
Audrey’s farmhouse was built in the early 1700’s and aside from a few modern facelifts the property remains as originally built with 5 total bedrooms, two sitting rooms, a large kitchen and of course the huge outdoor area with a fire pit, both a gas and coal grill, two hammocks, a jacuzzi and a small outdoor pool.
We stayed in the Kenya room upstairs which shares a bathroom with the 2 other rooms upstairs. It was simple and had exactly what we needed, a blaring ac, low key lamps and all the toiletries needed for the weekend.
They have a small guest fridge in the kitchen if you are planning on bringing food and the entire kitchen is there for your disposals equipped with all types of appliances and nick knacks you would need to whip up something delicious. Sally and Doug also have a great tea and coffee selection, a s’mores supplies station and some sort of sweet snack out as well.
They have a minimum two night stay that includes boarding and the most exquisite breakfast layout! Each morning at promptly 9:30am we were greeted with a very impressive 3 course breakfast — all made from scratch. The first morning we had a delicious yogurt parfait (heavy on the blueberries and strawberries) followed by individually baked frittatas, baked potatoes and sausage finished with bread and avocado and bread with grilled peaches. The next morning we had a delicious green apple/​pear/​arugula salad with pecans and feta, followed by baked salmon and scrambled eggs followed by freshly cooked waffled topped with a blueberry compote. Everything was simple, delicious and filing!
Throughout the weekend, Sally and Doug were the sweet and most accommodating hosts. Being my first time ever at a B&B they provided the best environment and were so friendly and approachable with any needs or concerns. You would never know that they just recently took over the B&B!
Audrey’s is centrally located to a bunch of great trails for any nature enthusiast. If that’s not your thing, it is about 25 minute drive away from New Paltz– a cute little college town that has a ton of great restaurants and shops if you want to do a bit of exploring.
Bonus — since they took over about 2 months ago they have updated the furniture, added new (larger) beds to each room — even added flat screens so you can easily stream Hulu and Netflix! They are even planning on adding a newer natural pool soon! AND even a bigger bonus. they recycle. YAY!
Did I forget to mention that Audrey’s is pet friendly? At no additional charge and no limitation of size or type? My two brats enjoyed romping around the property and running freely throughout the house the entire weekend, there were even poop bags and towels provided for us. The hosts were even sweet enough to allow us to let them roam about while we went out about the town.
I can’t recommend Audrey’s enough! Just a short drive away from the city (about 2 hours) it is truly a place where you can go to just unplug and relax.

Audrey’s Farmhouse is the perfect answer to the dilemma… I want to go away for rest and relaxation, but don’t want to leave my dog home”.This incredible bed and breakfast is tucked away in Wallkill New York (approx. 2 hours from the city). It’s old and charming with 1700 creaky floors and all. The staff and owners are first class. They provide the ultimate in comfort, kindness and attentiveness. The morning breakfasts are unreal and the table is set so beautifully. The dogs are treated like the human guests and are allowed anywhere and everywhere in and outside of the farmhouse. The region is filled with outings and sights and so many restaurants are dog friendly

You will fall in love with the farmhouse and and want to visit once every season. The charm of the winter is so cozy with a crackling fireplace as well as the exquisite color and scents of Autumn. Having a closeby go to getaway where I can bring my Labradoodle and relax is a treat.
Take a chance and book a weekend… Remember to bring your appetite, comfy clothes and great walking shoes… oh, and don’t forget your pup!

I took my parents and dog there for the weekend and my parents loved it. Keep in mind the farmhouse was built in 1740 so this is NOT a modern structure; the bathroom and rooms are not updated. If you are looking for modern amenities (great wifi, TVs, fancy bathrooms), this isn’t the place for you. A few pros and cons:
Pros: bfast is amazing, property is beautiful and well maintained, dogs love the backyard, treats for the ppl and dog, dogs bowls everywhere on the property, plenty of antiques throughout the space. Biggest surprise, it doesn’t smell like dog! I have no idea what cleaner they use, but the entire house smells amazing! The staff is absolutely spectacular. I met Sharon and Maggie and they were both so so lovely. The staff and the coziness are what make this place. More than being dog friendly, they’re dog welcoming and it makes a huge difference. Making a fire after a bbq is a perfect way to spend the night, can’t wait to do that again.
Cons: Cathedral room is a bit loud in the morning so if you’re not an early riser, opt for another room (our dog was already up so it didn’t matter to us), also the bathroom is very very basic (standup shower) so if you need a tub/​shower, stay in the woodstove or suite. ppl over 6″ will need to crouch a bit due to the sloped ceiling, but wasn’t an issue for my group.
That being said, I can’t wait to go back!

Audrey’s is a great escape where dogs and their owners feel very welcome, but I agree with the review above — it’s not a creepy dog place with weird dog needlepoint pillows and puppy ceramics. I stayed in the suite and the accommodations were perfect: the bed was fluffy, the breakfast and mid-​day baked goods were incredible; and the claw-​foot bathtub in the suite was clean and relaxing. I was a solo female traveler for the weekend, passing through the area with my dog, and felt completely safe here. Only drawback is that you do have to go elsewhere for lunch and dinner (you’re probably out hiking anyway), and it’s BYOB if you want to have a glass of wine or beer by the fire pit outside. It’s best if you have a social dog that doesn’t start fights, but your pup doesn’t have to interact with the other dogs if you’re OK with leaving him in your room or keeping a close eye. Just know that dogs must stay in the bedrooms during breakfast. Also, if you aren’t a dog lover, I’d recommend looking elsewhere; pretty much every guest has a pooch at this place.

We just left Audrey’s on our way to another dog friendly bed and breakfast and we already miss it.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by Don, the owner and he told us that there were no rules and that we should make ourselves at home, enjoy the fresh baked cookies and pound cake, and to turn the lights off before we went to bed. (we were the only couple staying that night).
Our dog absolutely loved the freedom of romping around the house (a westie). Our room was cute and cozy, and best of all, it wasn’t overly DOG! Sure there were dog books and an occasional picture, but there weren’t porcelain trinkets of dogs everywhere. It was obviously a house for people who enjoy dogs, but not a dog house by any means.
Our bed was a little small (we stayed in the wood stove room) but the room itself was spacious. The lawn is HUGE. It was a little too cold to swim, but the pool looked very nice. Our dog loved the nature walks.
Oh, and the food was divine! Jackie, the cook, knows her stuff. First off, the baked goods were amazing. She made homemade scones at 7:30 AM and they were the best scones we’ve ever had! Breakfast was its own masterpiece… huevos rancheros, oven baked cauliflower, bacon, swiss cheese potatoes, and a warm pear yogurt thing that literally tasted like a fall festival in your mouth.
We’ll definitely be back because it’s super relaxing with lax rules, and our dog was welcome and loved!

Audrey’s Farmhouse is a gem. It’s truly a warm and cozy place to stay. The house is spotless, welcoming and each room has its own charm. The staff (Jackie and Gerry) and owners (Don & Audrey) are friendly and give as much attention as wanted — the food (breakfast) is amazing with warm muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, and other delights each day like blueberry pancakes, oven baked pears and apples (yum!) poached eggs, bacon, doubled backed potatoes and eggs, etc. Coffee, tea, orange juice — the works. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the fireplace with plenty of wood that helped us relax and was a great place to sit and read. They are very pet friendly, especially with dogs. Our dog made herself right at home… sprawled on the floor by the fireplace.
We will go back in the warmer weather for another getaway from the city. New Paltz is a great town for shopping in quaint shops, enjoying good food from Indian (Saruchi’s) to Turkish. We did a 7.2 mile hike up at Mohonk Preserve.
This is a great place to get some outdoor activity and relax back at Audrey’s Farmhouse in the evening or all day if you like. We found the outdoor Jacuzzi a welcomed sight after hiking all day!

This was lovely! Leave the kids at home (but bring the dog). Very clean, amazing breakfasts, nice people. Local statepark and trails close by. It was a very charming and relaxing place. We’ll be back!

I love Audrey’s Farmhouse B&B and so does my Chocolate Labradoodle!
The attention to detail is awesome: fresh flowers in the rooms, down pillows and comforters, and they even bother to tie a bow around every roll of TP!
The beds are comfy, breakfast is amazing.
But the real story is the hosts and the staff. They even baked a birthday cake for my cousin’s birthday. And the huge fireplace, which goes all day and into the late evening, is always the hub of great conversations.
We’ve been there 3 times and getting there feels like coming home! Can’t wait to go back! Perhaps best of all, it’s 1 ½ hours from Manhattan!

I absolutely love this place. Been there twice and am going there again for my birthday. My dog is so happy to run around in Audrey’s big backyard and explore the surrounding area of mountain trails and rail trails. The rooms are very clean and comfy — the beds are marvelous with real down comforters. The owners are very sweet and the staff takes care of all of your needs. the breakfasts are amazing. The only downside is the lack of light in the fireplace room — its very hard to sit by the fire and read your book — but that’s my only criticism. I plan to keep coming back to this fabulous place. Your dog can run around the house unleashed — which is pretty cool!

If you want to escape from the city this is the place. The owners are warm and friendly and they encourage bringing your dog[s], and will treat them as equally well as they treat you. The rooms are adorable, clean and comfortable and there is great hiking and rock climbing near by. The food is yummy and after a day of playing outside you can sit by the fire with a glass of whiskey [or wine], smores, and chill out. The perfect escape.

I live in NYC and was desperate for a weekend out of the city. I have 2 dogs and really didn’t want to leave them behind. Audrey’s Farmhouse was wonderful… Everything from the 1800’s farmhouse to the path in the woods leading to a stream to the marshmallows by the fireplace and doggie bags (for the dogs). I will definitely go back and recommend it to anyone wanting a nice, peaceful time away from the city… especially if you have dogs. Oh, and the breakfast is amazing too… It’s like 5 or 6 courses!
