I worked with Desmond McKenna at DC Home Buzz to purchase a condo this fall. As a first time home buyer, I really needed guidance, reassurance, patience and support throughout the entire process. More than anything, Des wanted me to find a place in which I was comfortable. The team ran the whole process of selling my condo, from getting people to fix up the place to getting a new carpet and replacing the toilet to getting it staged. I never went to the place after we contracted with them; they even took care of the stuff found in the inspection. (I did have to pay for the work, of course, but the prices were quite good, and they did it all for me.) I was looking for a turnkey solution and I got it. So great.

I was referred to DC Home Buzz from one of my friends who bought a home with them in 2013. I have never worked with the head broker of the office, but found our junior associate Lindsey Reese to be extremely helpful.
My family thought that we would easily find a home in a month or two, but the housing market in DC was extremely competitive. Lindsey worked tirelessly to find us many options. When we were discouraged after losing a home to multiple offers, our agent was right there to help us move forward. She even had a contractor come to a prospective house on a Sunday evening to give us an estimate for repairs.
She has an extreme amount of patience with clients (perhaps too much). Most agents would have probably given us a reality check quickly. You want a backyard, a Tier 1 school, and a detached house on your budget? Hunh?

Rob Williams and the staff at Home Buzz COMPLETELY CHANGED my feelings towards the importance of having a qualified agent. He was AMAZING!!! We hit a bunch of different snags through the process but he expertly guiding me through them until I found a house I love for a much lower price than I expected to have to pay.

I was referred to Ati and DC Homebuzz by a good friend, and was impressed by them after our initial meeting. They were knowledgeable and gave me tips to consider when deciding to sell vs rent out my studio in DC. Ultimately, I decided to continue to rent, and retained DC Homebuzz to manage my property. That’s when things starting falling apart. I didn’t feel like I was getting the updates I needed from them in a timely manner, and was not positive that they were putting their best foot forward to market and showcase my property to prospective tenants. I tried calling their office # a few times (which always went straight to voicemail), and Ati’s cellphone but no one returned my calls. Eventually I got an email from her stating that «we don’t have the people or time resources to be able to handle getting your rental work done.» Great, I wish I had known earlier as time is money! I tried calling once more to understand what went wrong, but to this day I have no idea. Needless to say, I took their advice and have retained NestDC to manage my property and things are looking up.

Atieno is an excellent resource, especially for first time home buyers.
After an unpleasant experience with another agent, I jumped ship to District Home Buzz and thank goodness I did. Atieno guided me on how to get out of a contract without any penalties. She understood what my long term goals were and advised me on the best neighborhoods to look at. The listings she sent were always relevant and she happily drove me up and down looking at condos — even after what must have been the 30^th one we looked at!
When I finally found my home, she guided me and we successfully submitted an offer and signed a contract, though I was travelling out of the country. She stayed on top of all the different parties and fought several fires on my behalf, remaining calm, even when my patience was running out. You definitely want her on your side if you’re purchasing a home.

Ati looked me up on FB because we have the same name, and later I bought my house with her. Someone asked me for Ati’s info after my birthday party, noting, «She seems different from the rest of those.» This person has a critical edge, but it’s true. Without disparaging other agents I’ve met, I can say it’s a joy to work with Ati. She’s knowledgable, she’s a problem-​solver, she is a lionness for her clients, she’s has lots of joy and vim about the profession, and she’s always on top of things. It’s pleasant to buy a house with someone you want to work with.
And Rob is so caring, it’s like he’s a pastor not a realtor, (or the kindliest version of who you wish your pastor was!)
