Update — went to their shop in Adams Morgan(close to the McDonalds) and was able to sample the vanilla while I decided what to get. In my opinion a steal at 5 for $ 13.50. I probably could have eaten all 5 by myself in one sitting but reluctantly shared with the bf. Miso caramel was again the shining star. Should’ve gotten 5 of those…

You can keep your cupcakes, cake pops, macarons and doughnuts. I have a new dessert obsession and it’s eclairs! I am a huge fan of Donburi and it’s simplistic Japanese rice bowls so when I heard that they were expanding into the very specialized éclair business, I was immediately intrigued. Located as a permanent pop-up inside Spoon(a very cute bubble tea and fro yo shop with lots of sunny windows and Free WiFi), they offer seven flavors: Yuzu Raspberry, Miso Caramel, Green Tea, Chocolate, Hazelnut, Coffee, and Strawberry Rose. Cherry blossom coming soon! The shopkeep was so friendly and patiently explained all of their offerings to us. My best friend and I ultimately decided on the Yuzu Raspberry and Miso Caramel to share and the owner decided to throw in an extra chocolate in for good measure. How sweet! Both figuratively and literally. Yuzu Raspberry — I loved how the bright citrus flavor of the yuzu brought out the natural flavors of the raspberry. It tasted light and refreshing, like all of the calories were almost cancelled out. Miso Caramel — I’m not sure how to describe this but just get it! It was my favorite out of all three and I loved the burnt caramel pieces on top. Chocolate — After hearing about all of the unique flavor combinations above you would think that chocolate would be pretty boring… you are wrong. This is the most intensely flavored chocolate filling you have ever tasted. With each bite, I was transported to my days of patisserie lounging in Paris. I look forward to making G’éclair an essential food group in my diet!
