Rover.com – Dog Boarding & Sitting

My first experience using rover was positive. Samantha took great care of my dog Hamlet for 12 hours on one of my workdays. It was very affordable, and she sent cute photos throughout the day to let me know he was doing well. Samantha was great!

After having an amazing experience with Rover, we moved and the old sitter was over a 2 hour round trip. We decided to go with a sitter closer to our new location. I met with her and was informed she ran a dog walking service. She told us the entire time that there were no issues with our dog, for 2 weeks, then we get back and she tells us she was too much to handle. She is a 1 ½ year old lab, whom I told her was hyper, as she should be. If she had told us she was a lot, we could have got her and made other arrangements or had friends watch her. Instead I think my dog was mistreated for 2 weeks. She smelt of smoke when we got her back even though the person didnt smoke, she freaked out and peed in our bed (never happened when leaving before), she wouldnt poop, she ate her harness because the sitter didnt take it off, there were a few other issues.
In Rovers defense they did take her off the site.

Last month I used
for my dog boarding needs for the first time. I was initially hesitant to trust an online site to find a good person to take care of my Cavalier King Charles puppy. But from the beginning I found the website well organized, user friendly, and it addressed all my questions and concerns. I liked how I could plug in all the particulars of my dog and a list appear with pre screened people willing to care for my dog, dates available and exact rates. (Note: make sure to click on «additional services and rates» for holiday rates, which are usually higher. I didn’t see this at first.). I also like the built in «meet» step so I could meet the caregiver, see their environment, ask questions and get an overall gut feeling. I love rover! I’ve used it twice now for dog sitting our puppy, and it’s been excellent. Their app is also seamless – I received pics and videos from our sitter during Oliver’s stays. There are so many people in my area who love dogs, so it wasn’t hard to find a dependable home for Oliver’s weekends away. The best part about it is that he’s not in a cage the entire weekend. He plays with other dogs, he gets to regularly go to the dog park… he pretty much forgets that I’m out of town. He comes back happy and TIRED. I love it!

I’ve had great experiences with Rover. I feel much better about having someone stay in my house to watch my dog and keep her happy and stress-​free than taking her to a boarder. The app and website are easy to use, and I appreciate that Rover does background checks on their sitters and offers insurance during their stay.

The most convenient way to find a place to board your dog in the area. We never had to board our dog in 6 years so we were very nervous with all the options. River helped us find someone really close by and super friendly, which helped our nerves a lot. If you’re in the Gaithersburg area look for Kelley, she took fantastic care of our pup!

Rover is an easy and efficient way to find somewhere to board your dog. I could search to see the closest sitters to my house so my dog would be in the same area, and then see prices and reviews for those sitters. The reviews make it easy to choose someone, and the messaging system they have in place is simple to use. It even lets the sitters send pictures to during the stay to us, so everything is done through the app. We’ll definitely use again when boarding our dog!

Rover is an amazing service that offers the security and reputation of a large company, while being able to support local, dog lovers. My dog Annie is large and Rover has a special sorting feature to allow me to find dog watchers are comfortable with big dogs!
I’ve been able to save tons of money and have total confidence in the the fact Annie is safe and in good hands!

Our sitter stayed at the house over a long weekend. She fed all of our animals, cleaned up after them, and even brought in our mail.

This is a great app! I’ve never had a dog sitter before and I was very anxious on keeping our pup at day care! However, rover did not make me feel that anxious as each sitter has her/​his own reviews. I took our pup to one of the dog sitters and she kept sending me pictures and even took her to the park. I would definitely use it any time I need a sitter or boarding !!
Also, the app is very user friendly and contacting the sitter and communication such as pictures are easily sent. They have a great app too! Well worth it!

I used Rover for the first time since I had to find somewhere to leave my 2 pet dogs before going on a week long vacation. There was a sitter located 2 blocks from me which made it very convenient. She was friendly and I felt relieved leaving my pets with her since 1 of my dogs does not produce tears and needs eye drops entered very frequently. She sent pictures of them at home and at the park which also made me feel better.
Overall, it was a very easy process in booking, paying, and communicating with the Rover sitter.

I’ve used Rover several times and am very happy with the service! The website is easy to use and they also have a good app for your smart phone. The sitters on Rover seem to be dog lovers (I always use the same one and am very pleased with her) and the payment is very secure and you get insurance with your transaction. It’s a great alternative to dog boarding (my dog got fleas last time we brought him there), especially if you have a dog that prefers to be around people than other dogs.
What’s great too is that you can either drop the dog off at the Rover sitter’s home or have them come to yours. Some sitters will even pick up and drop your dog off. A great way to build personal relationships with a reliable sitter and a great outcome of the «sharing economy».

Rover is one of the best examples of what the «sharing economy» is all about. There are lots of promo codes floating around which makes it inexpensive to try.
Regular boarding is expensive and it’s hard to swallow the idea that your dog is probably going to be locked up in a cage while you’re on vacation. There are so many horror stories about kennels that you’re never quite sure what your dog is in for. Asking family and friends to watch your dog is a better option but the compensation issue always gets awkward.
The best thing about Rover is that it’s simple fee for service. The care your dog gets is better than a kennel without the awkwardness of having to annoy your family or friends with another request to sit your dog.
I’ve used Rover to find a sitter for my dog. And my wife is a sitter and has hosted a number of dogs. It’s great to know your dog is in good hands and «part of the family» with your sitter, rather than an anonymous dog at a kennel.

I have used
twice now to find a sitter for my dog. It’s a great service and I have no doubt that the sitters on the website are true dog lovers. Many of the sitters will have meet and greets before you actually leave your dog with them so that everyone is comfortable with the arrangements.
The website is pretty easy to use although I had somewhat of a difficult time figuring out how to actually book the stay the first time.
I will absolutely use Rover anytime I need to go out of town and can’t bring my dog. It’s so much better than using a boarding kennel.

I suggest
to anyone who asks for a pet sitter or dog boarding recommendation. My experiences have both been very positive in finding boarding for my dogs — one time for a stay of more than a week; another time for some extra handling help during my wedding. Both times I worked with people who were professional and serious about caring for my dogs.
is easy to navigate and find someone who can fit your date, location and price range.
My only mild complaint (VERY mild, and reason for a less-​than-​5-​star review) is when sitters do not update their calendar availability. I once spent a lot of time searching, and received a lot of replies that «I’m not actually available.» I don’t know if people are not updating their calendar. Or if they weren’t interested in my situation. It was a bit annoying, but I’m not sure how
could fix that.
