What a disappointment! The menu includes Penne Bolognese. I asked if it was possible to have spaghetti instead of penne and was told«That should be OK.» I had taken a few mouthsful without looking properly and was disappointed with the taste. I looked more closely and realised the pasta was penne and not spaghetti. My mind had been«miles away» when the meal was delivered. I continued eating but couldn’t finish it. I realise that I gave them no opportunity to“fix” the problem. What bothered me when I explained why I hadn’t enjoyed the dish and the girl asked me cook, he’d then told her that he didn’t have spaghetti. I only then felt unimportant as the cook had decided to change my order without consulting with me. The food was cooked well. Spaghetti, which cooked all dente is lovely., but I find penne way too dry when cooked al dente. All in all it was an unfortunate experience.

Came here around 1pm on a Sunday and left with mixed feelings. While the menu is great and inexpensive with breakfast options until 3pm, don’t expect to get anything after you initially order! I ordered the classic brunch and even though it was quite busy, there wasn’t a long wait. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and tasty. Toast was thick and came buttered. Had an iced mocha with ice cream which was delicious; a great blend of chocolate and coffee with creamy, rich vanilla ice cream. My partner ordered the same meal with a bottle of coke however when we asked a staff member for an extra piece of toast($ 1.50) we had to wait a ridiculous 20mins to get it after asking about it. After a friendly staff member taking our order, the long wait for something so simple left me feeling their customer service could be better.

On a visit to my mother’s house, we opted to get out of the house and eat at the nearby Pepper and Salt Café at the Great Western Super Centre. The coffee was great, which I expected: almost everyone in this busy place had a coffee in their hand or on the table. My mother ordered a main(caesar salad), which she enjoyed, whereas I opted for desert. The chocolate cake was fantastic and the concoction of cake, cream and chocolate syrup was impressive — it was restaurant quality. It was a hot day when we visited, and unfortunately some of this permeated its way into the air-conditioned café. A lot of our patrons were sweating(or maybe they over-ate. Mains are large), but Pepper and Salt Café is a mere restaurant against the force of Brisbane’s summer heat. The décor of the place is unexpectedly funky, too. Unfortunately I found the staff to be of the indifferent teenager type: eyes down, grunts for replies.

On a trip out to the Great Western Super Centre to check out the retail stores, my wife and I came across this a café by the name of Pepper and Salt. It was one of the first places we noticed because of the concentration of people in its seating area. At each table, almost every customer had a meal going on. On closer inspection it was clear that this was not just some ordinary café, it was place where some quality meals could be bought. There was evidence of cheese platters, pasta dishes, gourmet sandwiches and some scrumptious deserts about so we had a looksee to find vacant tables. To our disappointment there were none. However, we didn’t let this perturb us, so we joined the line and decided to order a takeaway coffee each and a giant homemade muffin to share. While our coffees were being made we munched into our chocolate chip muffin, scoffing the treat down in a matter of minutes. Just in time for our coffees to be ready. We walked away, sipping on a well made drinks, contented with what we’d experienced, noting that we should come back to try the mains.
