Well, the name shows a degree of self awareness, at least! This is a cute little vintage furniture store on Pitt Street, next door to Quirks. If you can manage to squeeze into the shop, there is some great mid-20th century stuff — chairs, coffee tables, vases, rugs, etc., but it’s all a bit higgledy piggledy, and the quality varies. Right now they have the strangest thing — a red Eames chair with a wonky back; it just looks so wrong. Cram doesn’t have a sign, and isn’t listed in much, but it’s real! I bought a table there recently. The sales lady seemed more interested in reading her novel than selling me a table, but once I made it clear that I was going to buy it, she told me, «there’s an ATM at the pub,» and I did as I was told. Cram is cash only, but one advantage is their stuff is relatively marked down, compared to nearby antique stores(e.g. on Redfern St and Regent St). This is the sort of place you could find a forgotten gem, and get a decent price for it.
