I lost an entire day of precious weekend sulking around one of Melbourne’s furniture centres looking at all the usual suspect chain furniture stores. It was depressing. The furniture was uncomfortable and expensive or hideous. «You HAVE to check out Suite Deals» — every single person that I complained to about my crummy waste of a Sunday. So I finally got myself down here to check it out. The stock changes regularly, as it’s all ex-display furniture. This means that what you get on the day is going to vary whenever you visit so it’s luck of the draw on what you’ll find. What it does mean though is that you’ll get your furniture within a week. Which is a concept foreign to any other place I’ve been to! The space is huge and the prices are very cheap. Unfortunately, with no brand reference the quality also varies considerably and there’s no real reference to determine whether or not you’re getting a good deal. So maybe that $ 900 sofa package is a bargain, but if it’s stock from one of the mass producing warehouse stores it might be on par? I found it a tad confusing. The staff were very helpful however and let people feel free to browse on their own, only checking occasionally to make sure you didn’t feel ignored. They let us take down the details of things we were interested in to go and shop around, with the option to just call and sort out delivery and payment if we decided to pull the trigger so we wouldn’t have to go back to the store. This would definitely be my first stop in future.

Love this place. They sell ex-display items(i.e. floor stock and display house furniture) and most of it is pretty much perfect. Type of furniture they sell: — leather sofas and armchairs — fabric sofas and armchairs — tv units — shelving — bed frames(and brand new mattresses) — artwork — rugs — outdoor furniture — dining room furniture — etc Take $ ready to buy on the spot. The deals are mostly one-off.

Ex Suite Deals is very much under-rated. They have some of the best product going around. OK, so its ex-display furniture, that really doesn’t come into play when you see the quality and the variety of stock they have on display at their showroom. I’ve purchased here on two separate occasions and on both walked away feeling as though I had a bargain. This place can get pretty busy on a Saturday/Sunday morning and I’ve noticed that they now charge for parking on site. There is always street parking available and if not there are easily accessible side streets withing walking distance. Don’t be afraid to haggle down the price either, some stock they are just itching to get rid of! It might not be Freedom standards and you most pieces are one offs, but hey at least you don’t need an Alan key to put it together.

Even though this store actually has a very tacky name, I decided to give it a shot, when I was trying to kit out my new rental property. A large shop, by Church Street standards, this stand alone store has a huge amount of imported furniture and ex-display home furniture. What does this mean? It means you can get a wide variety of good looking pieces at affordable prices. Part of the Guest Furniture Hire system that furnishes the majority of Australia’s display homes with quality furniture. After the furniture has been on show, it ends up for sale at Suite Deals. Customers can also purchase complete room or home packages so you need not run around Melbourne trying to get your act together. The sales staff are generally helpful here and won’t follow you around the store(unlike some other places) so you can take your time to look.
