The Swan’s one of those main road hotels. They don’t make their money off clientele looking for a specialised good time, they make their money off clientele looking for beer, and an outdoor area to smoke in. As such, they do it fairly well.

Eww, this place is fucking gross. This is the kind of place that football players go to pick up groupies after the game. They have heaps of TVs(though strangely on one of the few regrettable times I stepped into this joint they wouldn’t change any of them over to a lesser known game despite the fact the place was fucking empty), they have an indoor/outdoor area for smokers and the only music they play is fucking shit to put it mildly. I don’t know quite what else to say about the Swan except there’s an equally shit pub of the same name on Chapel Street, yet you’d be less likely to get you drink spiked by some date raper at the Prahran venue. Fairly warned be thee says I…

Much like The Precinct down the road, a common sight at The Swan on a weekend night is the long line stretching from the front door down Church Street. Look inside and you’ll see a regular pub full to the brim with drinking and dancing as the cover band fulfil their rock n roll dreams by slamming out 80’s hits until late. With a ‘footy’ pub feel evident, most patrons are here to get drunk and have a good time. With a large beer garden and pub grub on the menu, head in early if you’re keen on eating here. You can either eat outside or in the dining area, which holds 40 people. Compared to other pubs in Richmond, the food prices are quite good. With only one or two items costing over $ 20, the Swan hasn’t conformed(yet) to the trend that most pubs have, that being charging $ 25 for a chicken Parma & chips. Known as the place where people go after knocking back a few elsewhere, The Swan has made a name for itself as the place you go to let loose a little. At it’s busiest between midnight and closing on a Saturday night, it’s bumper-to-bumper and quite a sight to see.
