Makes my day!!! Great hearty breakfast. I have had the Greek beans, I add an egg. Last week I had the shashuka. Spicy baked eggs but not too spicy, I can’t handle sweet chilli sauce and it was fine for me. I often pop on for a coffee, which is great! And a Greek moon biscuit which I love to dip into my coffee. Oh and the Choc ricotta cake is a must… And souffra.

This place makes the best cakes ever! The chocolate ricotta cake is to die for. It is a cosy space and they do breakfast and lunch as well. Boucla also make delicious coffee, but their cakes are where it is at. You won’t be disappointed!

With heavy décor and dark corners Boucla is a haven away from Rokeby Road, once inside you are teleported to a cosy, homely café with plentiful cakes, sweet treats and wonderful Greek café food. Item of choice for me was the spanakopita, flaky pastry stuffed full of feta and spinach with a lightly dressed side of greens — perfect for a weekday lunch. Didn’t partake in any cakes this time but gosh you could just stare at them for hours on end.

Agree on food with all the previous reviews. Front of house staff could pick up on service. Kitchen 5stars service 2 stars. Definitely try the cakes they are memorable.

If I had a yia yia then this is what I imagine her house would look like filled to the brim with foreign cushions, evil eyes, tapestries, ornate décor and sumptuous food. Unfortunately my favourite gigantic rose and ginger Turkish delights no longer seem to be on offer. However the Rosewater meringues are a must, they also have beautiful cakes that you can buy by the slice and backlava and other decadent syrup coated Greek sweets. They also have salads and other Greek food staples on offer. I can’t go past their Pastitsio a dish resembling lasagna but made with macaroni. Garfield eat your heart out! I’m also a fan of their Spanakopita which is made with light flaky airy pastry and filled with spinach and feta cheese.

I’ve only had cake and coffee(twice). The cakes are beautiful, innovative and utterly unlike the usual ‘cheesecake shop’ style cake found in so many cafes. Many are decorated with edible flowers and they taste even better than they look. The café is small and can be crowded, but there are lots of little nooks and crannies for out-of-the-way seating.

So it turns out people in subiaco are inefficient customers. I made the rookie mistake of trying to order a small takeaway coffee during lunch time. Basically every person spent 4 minutes at the till being indecisive despite having waited in line for 10 minutes. I lined up for 13 minutes to order a mocha. Worse– the barista allowed customer to walk in and place orders directly with her — This happened twice. I don’t care if they’re regulars. Oh and my milk was burnt after the whole damn saga of waiting around. Not impressed.

Decide to go here for breakfast. What great little place. It looks tiny when you walk in but there is lots of room at the back including an alcove that is small but cute. It is quite tight when trying to pass other people. The breakfast I ordered came out all burnt which was not a pleasant experience which include potato rotis that were black underneath. The coffee was was tasty & came out in a beautifully patterned mug. I discovered after heading outside to the toilets an amazing little garden oasis. I couldn’t resist & ordered another coffee & sat & read another chapter of my book. It was divine out there. The reason this place is getting 4 stars is the interior & exterior which is so different to all the usual café designs. Even though it is a bit off the Subiaco beaten track it pulls in a good, steady flow of customers.

I had a wonderful piece of chocolate and ricotta cake and a coffee at Boucla this afternoon. This café is a treat for breakfast, lunch or cake. Boucla has an amazing array of cakes which all have that special homemade and fresh quality. The food is all fresh and very flavorful. They make a mean coffee and even a tasty chai latte. The space is fairly small and heavily decorated so if you are easily overwhelmed by lots of sensations this might not be the place for you.

I wish only that I have multiple stomachs. Boyfriend and I came here for an afternoon snack and adored the sweet soufra. It’s flakey crumbling pastry sat over a layer of eggy custard and topped with luscious pistachios. We also had the ricotta chocolate cake which he enjoyed(I’m not much of a chocolate fan) because of its crunchiness but we both agreed that it was nothing amazing compared to the soufra. The baklava was a bit too sweet and not very special. I will be back to try the savory Persian slippers and the beautiful and authentic ambiance. A great place for a catchup. Coffees were also done to perfection. Flat white was excellent here. I recommend deciding on a place to sit(check the patio out back and to the right) before ordering since they’ll ask where to deliver your coffees when you order. There’s parking at the rear of the cafés and free one hour parking on street out front.

Strolled down here on a Saturday morning and discovered the most perfect breakfast to aid my post-Christmas party recovery. Crispy potatoes, mushrooms and pancetta with sourdough toast with an awesome flat white. Oh yes I will be returning …

Love this place! The spot to get your coffee on the way into work. Be prepared to wait(check your work email!) but it’s worth it. Using Crema coffee beans, I’ve yet to experience a burnt or too hot cup. The food is impressive, even the takeaway muffins are great.

A haven of Mediterranean(especially greek) food, including classics like Moussaka, Spanakoptica, greek salad and Baclava, as well as lesser-known-but-equally-as-delicious dishes like persian slippers(lamb pastry parcel) and sweet and savoury souffras(layered pastry tart). They also have some more straight forward dishes for your picky friends, like frittata and salmon bagels. I am consistently impressed by the food, yet also consistently confused by the service. They used to be a very surly bunch, then the new crew was more relaxed but I did receive a rather passive aggressive reaction when the barista made me the wrong coffee when I was last there. However I wouldn’t let this deter you, it all seems to be a part of the chaos of this small and always crowded café, and besides the owner is really lovely.

Always jam packed with people — gotta be a good sign right? Just up the road from my office so the coffee aroma wafts its way down and temptation can be hard to resist. Service is friendly and efficient, coffee is always on point and their turkish delight is a wee naughty treat that has to be tried! Rarely fails to please.

In love with this little café! I had walked past it a hundred times to have lunch somewhere or do something in Subi and wondered when I was ever going to eat there. I shared spanakopita and a quiche with one of my friends and was not disappointed. I would have loved to sample everything they had. On my way out I ordered four desserts to bring home to my house guests and only ended up with three… this was a bit frustrating. Getting the desserts sliced and in boxes took a while for them because by their own fault, their dessert placement is inconvenient and in the process a line built behind me so I was hurried through. It really irks me when people skimp on service like this, hence three stars instead of four. I paid almost $ 40 for three desserts. The other not-so-convenient thing about Boucla is that if you have a stroller, there is no way you can eat there unless there is a place available in one of the three seats outside. That eliminates A LOT of customers :(

I came here on a wet and rainy Friday afternoon for lunch and was pleasantly suprised by the choice of lunch options. You could have Greek salad or a Persian slipper with meat and vegetables in a pastry, soup or other pie/pastry options. For $ 16 and a side salad in Subi, I thought it was relatively good value — I had the Persian slipper and found it very tasy. And you didn’t have to wait long for the food — perfect for me! The cakes on offer looked delicious but as I prefer 100% rich chocolate nothing stood out for me. Had I wished to experiment with pistachio, chocolate, nuts, brownies — I could have had any number of cakes. It’s an interesting ambiance — a mixture of Turkish, middle eastern and European. I enjoyed coming here — some of the staff weren’t the friendliest but the food was delicious — I would come here again!

Sometimes the tinier the space, the richer the experience. Boucla is certainly testament to this. The innence-infused Turkish eatery feels like its bursting at the seams, with tables crammed inside the café, out the front, and in the garden around the back. The large numbers it attracts — for reasons of service, atmosphere, food and coffee(all boxes are ticked here) — makes the space seem even tighter, and further adds to the bustling vibe of the joint. A friend and I had breakfast here yesterday morning and struggled to choose between a table inside(amidst the patterned rug-adorned walls and bold trinkets), or outside where dappled sunlight fell on a bright garden and a couple of wooden tables. Both options were too good so we decided to eat our savoury inside, and out post-savoury sweet out. I had Greek beans and poached eggs on toast(which was packed with zesty, tomato-y flavour) and a freshly-squeezed watermelon and strawberry juice. My friend order a lamb souvlaki wrap which she gave two thumbs up to as well. Next came this giant of slab of what can only be described as salty, custardy, flaky, goldeny, eggy, buttery amazingness. Plus a couple of well-brewed coffees. The service here is so utterly delightful, and the range of baked goods, seriously, was unlike anything I’ve seen, spread out on the counter, all rustic and half cut, full of pistachios, pastries and sheer turkish delight.

Shuffle your way past the queue of people clustering to get in their order of coffee and cake, and you will feel like you’ve stepped inside a nook of a Turkish Bazaar. Boucla is a trinket filled lair that caters mouth-watering food and a beautiful interior. A fabulous melting pot of Persia, Turkey, Morrocco and Egypt. Everything about Boucla is authentically Middle Eastern. A narrow walkway between entrance and tables makes it hard to move around, and counter service would probably suit this tiny café better, but that probably wouldn’t suit the attitude of the people who work here. By all means don’t get in their way and don’t ask stupid questions. On more than one occasion I’ve had my queries on the daily offerings, be met with a dark stare and sarcastic response. Customers are often made to feel like a nuisance at this place. Despite it being a bit of an obstacle, I’m actually strongly supportive of Boucla’s pokey design. With larger expanses, Boucla would loose the magical ambience that makes it so special. I love retreating to a dimly-lit corner of this richly decorated café to enjoy my food. Bordered closely by neighboring diners, it takes me back to the bustling pocket-sized tearooms of Istanbul. The main cause for praise at Boucla is the food. They make the most deeeeelicious cakes from home recipes you wont find anywhere else. Plum cake, white chocolate/raspberry, syrup soaked Soufra and my favorite– the Chocolate-Ricotta take. TODIEFOR. The coffee is top-notch and I also adore their array of bean-y salads and flaky pastries stuffed with minced meats and cheeses. So if you can overlook the arrogant staff and cramped seating, I think you can love Boucla as much as I do.

This would have been one of my top 5 greatest Perth café experiences of 2011 had I not run into my former writing for performance professor(and when I say ‘run into’, I do mean that I physically ran into him). He didn’t like me as a student, I didn’t like him as a professor, so my mother and I sat outside while he remained inside with his ex-wife(yes I facebook stalked him; yes I’m a monster). This wasn’t an issue because the location of Boucla on trendy Rockeby Road in Subiaco made it all that more chic. They bring everything out to you so you don’t have to wait inside(like Café Café in Subi Centro grrr) and it’s all quick and hot/cold depending on what you’ve ordered. My mother and I had the Greek salad that came in a metal plate, which is something I haven’t seen since visiting the Greek isles. The coffee was to die for, especially my silky-smooth soy latte as I’ve had more than my fair share of cheese-like islands floating in my coffee from inexperienced baristas. Speaking of, this barista loved my coat and asked me to leave it for him in my will. How fun! I think I just might do that… Overall, great experience and my mother didn’t scowl at me as much as usual. Will def go back there when I do something bad and have to break it to her!

Boucla pays homage to the art of serving delicious Middle Eastern inspired food in a trendy kitsch surrounding reminiscent of Aladdin’s cave. The quality of the food is second to none. The recipes have been tried and tested to meet the level of flavour required to appear on the menu. From fresh salads with interesting sauces, to a selection of meat dishes with uniquely ethnic flavourings, it is no wonder there is generally a line out the door. I was recommended the Bolognese in a filo pastry base/pie by a friend of mine, whom likened the dish to being better than sex. The coffees are excellent and the service is very warm and homely to complement to rustic environment. On the way out make sure you grab some of the Turkish delight for your travels — it will take you to a better place.
