Honi Honi

I really love Honi Honi Tiki.
From the moment you step out of the lift you’re treated very well. «Welcome back, it’s great to see you again» is always a nice way to start.
A very cool vibe with an unpretentious crowd makes visiting Honi Honi a pleasure. The bar layout is gorgeous, the mixologists are in top form, and still remains my favourite cocktail bar in HK!

Tiki drinks must be
A. strong
B. involve rum
C. flaming is encouraged
Honi Honi has it right. With a lovely patio and an intimate, not too tacky atmosphere inside, it’s a great example of tiki. It is somewhat strange finding an odd building then riding up a dodgy elevator to get to the place, but then again, it is Hong Kong! Drink prices were also pretty outrageous but at least these are some pretty strong cocktails. After 2, you’ll be stumbling home (just like everyone else in Central!) We did a scientific experiment, comparing the Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai with the Trader Vic’s Mai Tai. In fact, they are very different drinks. The experiment was so successful we decided to repeat it (for science reasons, obviously.) Honi Honi is a great find for tourists and locals alike.

Good cocktails (coming from someone who’s not a fan of fruity cocktails) and nice atmosphere.
Perfect for grabbing a drink after work on a small rooftop terrace which is far from tacky and hard to find in Hong Kong. Also very good service!

One of the more unusual aspects of Hong Kong is the hidden bars and restaurants. Hong Kong is such a vertical city where space is at such a premium, surprises await the adventurous.
One such place is Honi Honi on the third floor of 52 Wellington Street near Lan Kwai Fong. An indescript entrance and elevator ride transports you to a Polynesian themed cocktail bar with a 6 page menu filled with creative tropical concoctions in fun cups and vessels.
It’s vibe is quiet and cool and there’s even a covered patio. The servers wear colorful Hawiian shirts and the music is tasteful and played at a volume that doesn’t drown out conversation.
I went with out of town guests on Sunday night, and there were only a few people there. Not sure how the weekend or after work crowd is, but I’ll definitely come back and find out.

I’ve actually been here twice and I must have been distracted by the fact that my drink was in a tiki to actually pay attention to what I was drinking. The atmosphere is so cute though and it really doesn’t seem like you are just 3 floors above Central. The drink presentation is very well thought out and executed. It’s just the drinks that didn’t vibe with me. I didn’t want a fruity or overly sweet drink, but there weren’t many options that didn’t include that. My brother and I each got one drink before deciding to find a bar that suited our tastes a little better.

Great little place. Super cozy patio. Drinks were great, not out of this world by any means but the presentation was lovely and the atmosphere made it a place to return to for sure. Would recommend it if you want to make an outing with your friends for some drinks!

Expectations smashed. There was nothing that was unusual. Nothing I hadn’t seen before. Nothing to be desired.
Too bad because the people who worked there were so accommodating.
Cute space though.

You are welcomed by a safari once the lift opened. More people are into the ambience of this bar rather than the mixodology. The name already creates the intimacy for you to picture. Then the real scene is more a mix of bohemian and classic.
Very limited seats and unfriendly standing space. Nowadays they even came up with the crowd control security downstairs for guest list something. Hardly can I understand. We get in thanks to some Dj. And it is full, full for all seats only. This sophistication draw down my pleasant impression for them. I started going there since their opening and was regular when I lived here.
I ordered the cocktail just due to its cute bottles. What a gem. ‘The Three Monkeys’ plays with lime and rum while ‘Tropical Storm’ is too fruity for me. Sorry no girly drink. My visitor liked the place. But I know I am not coming back.

I had been meaning to go to Honi Honi for a while so maybe that’s why when liquored push came to shove and I managed to get my ass over here, my great expectations were hardly met.
I noticed everyone was rather good looking at this bar, including servers, bartenders, and the clientele. The décor was similarly meticulous, with no doubt that this was a tiki bar, complete with those tiki cups which I so desperately wanted to knick. Especially considering a cocktail comes to $ 180 or so bucks. Yes, yes, LKF drinks can get expensive, but my bartender-​friend who joined me was upset by how his cocktail just tasted of too much Campari and I wasn’t blown away by my concoction either.
Oh, and it took far too long for our drinks to be served. Understandably, a cocktail bar takes longer to serve, but it was to the point that I sobered up waiting for my cocktail. Not surprisingly, the bill comes faster and we were only too glad to be ushered out.
Perhaps a place to see and be seen? Because youre not gonna be doing much drinking at the rate theyre serving up cocktails.

Honi Honi is a popular tiki bar in Central. I think one of the reasons why it got so popular is because this is the one and only tiki bar in town. It’s great for theme parties and such.
Out of the many times I have been here however, I never felt fully comfortable. I guess one of the reasons is because it is always packed, never enough space to walk. I mean, I can understand that from a club, but honi honk is a bar. –_​–
The only time we managed to get some room was when we booked out a table at 6pm. and still, people were trying to sit with us.
One of the fun things about honi honi are their drink selection. They have a big menu of hawaiian inspired cocktails. It makes the whole night seem a little more happy. The embellishments they add are always really cute.
One of the must-​try items is their watermelon vodka! Have you tried spiking a watermelon? it’s hard work. They do it for you here. A whole watermelon, chilled, spiked and mess-​free. Note that if you want this watermelon drink, first of all, you need to share with 5 or more friends, second of all, it IS SPIKED, oh and third of all, it’s a little pricey, think it’s over $ 1000 for the watermelon if i remember correctly.
The décor of this place is really cute, it’s decked out like what you would expect to see in hawaii. Full of colour, hula girl posters, hula girl skirts, etc. Ohhh what would be even better is if the wait staff was dressed that way too.

I like Honi Honi (which means «kiss kiss» in Polynesian). It always brings a smile to my face, and that’s not because of the amazing array of rum and cocktails, it’s because it’s a fun place, where I can put on a Hawaiian shirt without looking like a prize pudding.
Honi Honi is a full-​on tiki bar in the heart of HK. It’s about as close as you can get to Tahiti without going yourself. The décor is fab, with an interior decorated by plenty of bamboo cladding, and vintage tiki posters of girls in grass skirts. There is also a big outdoor terrace, with plenty of «booth» seating, and again, plenty of bamboo and greenery.
The drinks menu is impressive. They must have over 100 different rums on offer (all of which are listed on their website), as well as wines, beers, and other spirits. However, the real draw here is the cocktails. There are short, long, champagne, martini, sharing, the list goes on. Each comes in it’s own signature glass, be it a martini glass, a tiki face glass, or a coconut. Like I said, it’s so much fun! Word of warning, the drinks all taste like yummy non-​alcoholic fruit juices, but are in fact all pack a real punch. Especially the sharing bowls, it’s not a race to see who can get to the bottom first!
Don’t be expecting any food while you are here. The food menu is two items, Jamaican patties or skewers. That’s it. As such, it’s a great place to start your evening, or finish you night. In any case, after getting through a fraction of the rums, you won’t be worrying about eating!
