I love ramen. So as I have been trying to find a tasty one in this town(which has turned out to be not the easiest task), I decided to try one this evening as I was freakin’ cold. Ordered a seafood ramen with miso broth. And I I was fully aware this is not the authentic ramen(hey where’s the pork), but I was thinking that it could be good anyway as it had the miso broth. Starting with the noodles: soggy and overcooked. Broth: tasteless but the smell of fish. Seafood: besides a soft tasty piece of salmon mostly chewy octopus and some cheap white fish. Needless to say, I was not content. In essence, I don’t like places that are overpriced and where the food is just being made and shuffled out as if it was going down a conveyer belt(!). Reason why I am being kind of generous with three stars is that the staff is super cute and friendly. In addition, did not have to wait for food nor was there any mistakes during our evening with a group of 12. Be prepared for high noise level — Friday and Saturday evenings expect it to be difficult to hold a normal conversation.

Staff are excellent in here. Attentive as always. We ordered a chef’s special, miso soup and tuna sashimi. They were all okay but I definitely think there are better places sushi wise in Dublin. This place had the market to itself for so long… but they will have to step up their game to compete with the alternative sushi restaurants.

Overall very nice. I really enjoyed. Food is bit expensive(for example you have to pay 17 € for ramen) but from time to time it’s wort it, especially if you check in with Unilocal, you’ll get free sake for every person at the table! We went for a prawn and avocado Norimaki which were very big and really fresh soft and tasty. I really enjoyed this one as I really like this combination of tastes. eby gyoza(small dumplings) really reminds mi in some way polish pierogi or Chinese sajgonki that I used to eat after college. seafood tempura was also very soft and crunchy and fresh. Tatsuta age which was breaded chicken with veg salad and brown rice which was tasty and as well. The staff is lovely and very very helpful especially Wakana(one girl that running around the tables). She can perfectly explain and advice what is the best to go for. The one thing that I didn’t really enjoy it’s the level of the noise. It’s quite loud and there were moments when I couldn’t hear what my fiends are saying.

The food is very good, but it takes quite a long time to get it. The staff is a bit impersonal and inattentive, and it took nearly ten mins the last time my friend and I were there to flag down a waitress for our bill. The last two times we were there we both got a mild headache so I’m wondering if they use MSG in their food, even sushi.

Stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The prices for rolls looked high compared to other restaurants, but when the roll came to the table I could see why. Much larger serving per roll than I usually see in the States. The salmon and avocado roll was very fresh and tasty. The salad with crispy salmon was also very good. Server was friendly and food arrived quickly. Just a little slow to bring the tab after the table was cleared. Maybe she was waiting for me to give a clear indication I had finished my tea? To be fair, I was probably giving mixed signals. Also, I have to agree with Brian. It was easily 25+ degrees in the restaurant. I had just spent the morning walking around at Trinity in cold blustery November weather and I thought it felt like heaven, but any other time I think it might have felt too hot.

Yamamori has been one of my favourite places to eat sushi in Dublin city for years. It never fails to create amazing tasty dishes. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere it’s laid back! Inside of the restaurant is really big and spacious! With 3 alcohol bar — I must say the Lychee cocktail is a must, super yummy!!!

While I love Japanese food, I think Yamamori is one of the most overrated restaurants in Dublin. I recently returned to Yamamori after having not been there for a number of years and saw that nothing much had changed. The sushi tasted okay but was incredibly overpriced for a sampler platter that had smaller than average pieces of fish and sushi rice that was barely better than plain boiiled rice(sushi rice is a particular type of rice which is then prepared with vinegar and a sweetener). My friend ordered the Tofu Steak which at € 17 also seemed overpriced. It really appeared as if all they had done was taken a block of tofu, breaded it, deep fried it and then absolutely covered it in something approaching the texture of hot apricot jam. The temperature of Yamamori has also always gotten to me as I don’t think I’ve ever been there when it wasn’t at least 25 if not pushing 30 degrees. When you have a hot kitchen so close to the diners, working air conditioning would probably be a good thing…

I have been going here for years. In fact just a couple of years ago this place would have probably have gotten a 5 star rating from me. In the past while their quality has dropped, the portions have shrunk and their prices have increased dramatically. Back in the day, I found it hard to walk by any of the Yamamori restaurants without reading the daily bento box offers. They were always full of interesting dishes that I wanted to try. More recently, I spot the bento board and it usually looks like the same thing as it was every other day. The place is still nice; food is very good cocktails are also very nice. Recently they have started using black sushi rice which, in my opinion is not as nice as the white rice. If you are looking for a nice Japanese meal you are better off going to Musashi or Zakura or one of the other fantastic Japanese restaurants that have opened in the past few years.

This place has the best sushi in Dublin. It’s also the most popular. I came by at an odd hour between lunch and dinner and the place was packed! Despite the crowd, I was seated and service was a bit slow to get my order but the food was delivered really fast after you place the order. If you want top quality sushi, especially variety in specialized sushi, this is definitely your place to go. If you’d prefer to avoid the large crowds and noise, there’s a few other options in city center you can check out.

So. Initially we had our hearts set on going to Musashi on Capel street. But not knowing how tiny the place was, it was a Friday night and packed out. So Yamamori Sushi was the next closest sushi place! And I’m glad it was because I really loved this place. I’ve been to its sibling restaurants Yamamori Noodles and Yamamori Izakaya on George’s street. The menu is sorta the same but the inside of the restaurant is what I liked most compared to the other two. The staff were great and helpful and explained everything to my friend who hadn’t eaten sushi before. We had the chefs sushi selection which was damn good and fresh! The dumpling selection which was ok but I should have stuck to my tradition of having the Ebi Gyoza. We also had the prawn tempura which was much better than the limp soggy ones I’ve had in Yamamori noodles. And as usual I had the spider crab sushi. Really good especially with the amazing wasabi they have here. My friend didn’t no what it was and packed it all over the sushi. You can imagine what happened next! Before my sushi came out the waitress brought out a salmon and avocado roll and said I’m sorry we mixed your order up but try this one. I’m not sure whether she wanted us to try it and not have the spider sushi or she was just giving us this one aswell. I politely just said we would rather the spider sushi. There was no fuss and she quickly changed the mistake. We also tried the free Sake when we checked in on Unilocal. It was really strong like vodka almost but hot. I loved it! Il definitely return to this Yamamori besides the other two the vibe is great and check the smoking area and bar out if your passing by!

Let me start off by saying that I love this place. I have been going for years. The food is imaginative and delicious, it is a lovely place for all occasions, and the staff are always friendly. I have however noticed a significant price increase in the last year and I feel that the prices are no longer fair. I have also noticed portion sizes decreasing. I used to adore the Tofu Steak which was taken off the menu, and subsequently redesigned and brought back. The new Tofu Steak is much smaller and no longer comes with a selection of veg and salad. It is now served on a bed of a few pieces of pak choi, and yet the price has risen. I still think they do lovely food but I feel that they are coming across as a bit greedy of late, and nobody likes that.

Love the sushi, I go here every time I visit Dublin. The Salmon sashmi was amazing, gyoza was some of the best shrimp ones I’ve ever had. Only thing that was a bit annoying was that the messed up our order not once, not twice but three times. They did, however, make sure we weren’t charged for anything other than what we ordered(although I’m sure we were given the larger plates).

The Northside branch of Yamamori is by far my favorite: more space, less of a wait time, nicer surroundings and more often than not, your very own table. Myself and my partner shuffled in, very hungry, and very late last Saturday. We were quickly seated by a friendly member staff. We shared futomaki as a starter and I had tofu steak as a main, while my partner enjoyed a katsu curry accompanied by our free sake(thanks Unilocal!). Finally, we finished the evening with a tasty trio of ice-cream. I really enjoyed my meal, and we couldn’t have been more looked after by our waiters — but overall this place is just too expensive for what you get.

Yum. Delicous food at great prices. I really like sitting in the outside patio out the back as well. It’s comfy, shielded from the wind, and they’ve speakers set up for some nice musical atmos. They have a cover over it as well in case the weather turns unexpectedly inclimate, which we all know isn’t highly unlikely in Ireland! I got the spider roll and the prawn tempura and both were really fresh and absolutely delicous. The spider roll is massive by the way — you could nearly share it with someone else if you got another side between you. The staff are really nice as well, and the whole place just has a general good vibe.

Nice enough place, I mostly come back for the atmosphere as for sushi and other Japanese food there are places I prefer. It’s great for an evening out though and serves very good cocktails. On my previous visits the service was always great but I was a little disappointed the last time, the food came before our drinks(simple lemonade, nothing that should take long) and when we asked we were told the bar was very busy… I would have expected to at least be offered tap water then without having to ask for it. Overall though I’ll probably be back.

Nice place for a weekend night: great music great service, good atmosphere. I had norimaki which were pretty tasty. But if you are not found of raw fish, the grill and noodles menu is quite attractive as well! It might be a little bit expensive…

This restaurant is perfect for a healthy lunch. I always go either for one of the Bento boxes(fish, or mixed) or one of their delicious ramen soups. Both only 10 Euro each and very substantial and full of fresh, tasty ingredients. Tip: don’t forget to check in, as you will get a free sake on the house.

We went with a group of twelve and had a table booked in the Tenga room. The staff was very friendly and it was nice to sit in the smaller room. You can’t watch the kitchen from there but it’s a nice and cosy room. I had heard good things about the food here but I wasn’t convinced by it. I assume it was freshley made, it just didn’t taste like it was fresh. I went for the misu soup and two different types of sushi and somehow the kick was missing for me. And they got a bit confused with our order. Some things came wrong, others had to get asked for again. I will give them another try but for now…

Ive been back to Yamamori a number of times. I usually get the bento box and it tends to make miso happy! When the waiter or waitress brings the majestic selection of randomness I am soy excited to delve into the culinary delights that the skilled chefs maki in the kitchen! The wine list is good but I have never had a bottle of Sake Sake(sah…key) and I can tell you now people it will set you back more than $ 5 dollar ;) The salmon and cream cheese norimaki is also a delight and a very safe bet for those dipping their toe in the raw waters of sushi dining. God bless the man beside us the last time we were there his chopsticks flew out of his grasp and onto the floor not once, not twice but thrice… i tend to just a use a spronged piece of cutlery because I dont give a fork myself! If you want a light option for dessert choose the apple and rhubarb sponge it comes with a scoop of icecream and a thin crispy butter biscuit on the side. They offer some probiotic style drinks on the menu, apple or aloe vera or oranges etc etc. I asked for a mix of apple and aloe vera, the waitress looked at me like ‘you trippin sunshine’ :D Jesus it tasted like something they would give you to drink on the show fear factor. You live… you learn. Still a great spot. I am not a mixologist!

This was my first dinner ever in Dublin a couple of years ago when I visited the city. It makes a great first impression when you go in, as you are always immediately greeted by one of their staff and then to the right you have a small bar where you can wait for a table to become available. Since I moved here I’ve been back in a handful of occasions but, as much as the ambiance and décor make it a very cool place, the food, prices and noise level just don’t make for a great restaurant experience. So lately I’m drawn more to their beer garden and cocktail bar in the back of the restaurant, where they have a good selection of cocktails and whiskeys — including Japanese whiskeys of course — and where you can have a more relaxing time. It’s also a good place for groups, as the room is quite big and has some long tables. Sometimes though they try to cram too many people on the same table, so beware of that. If you’re looking for the best Japanese food in Dublin, look elsewhere. The vegetarian dishes particularly are very disappointing, and are served with few sides. It doesn’t justify the prices charged for food at all. But Yamamori is your place if you’re looking for solid service and a hip space where you can finish your dinner with a nice drink.
