Talisker, Garden Oaks, and Clipper Pointe

Terrible, son unos ladrones, estuvimos viviendo ahì dos años y el apartamento estaba lleno de bichos de cama, la carpeta era usada y no la lavaron ni cuando renovamos y sin embargo, cuando nos fuimos, nos cobraron por la carpeta, porque dicen que tenìan que cambiarla, nosotros dejamos el apartamento limpio y eso no sirviò de nada, le reclamé a una persona en la oficina y me dijo que ella no podìa hacer nada, obvio, aùn estamos por ir a la ciudad porque consideramos que eso no es justo, pues dejamos el apartamento mejor que como ellos nos lo dieron. Sin contar que el A/​C se rompiò 9 veces, todo eso consta en los reportes y solo le echaban gas, y muchas otras cosas más que para qué. Del personal de mantinimiento, puedo señalar que los señores Don Nino, Roberto y Vicente son excelentes y eficaces y en cuanto al personal de la oficina, la manager que habìa anteriormente, bien desagradable ella, corriò a una de las mejores personas que habìa en la oficina, a la señora Josi Armijo, ella era bien eficiente, también está Berlinda, que es bien amable y una señora anericana que no se su nombre, pero es un amor de persona. Espero mi comentario les sirva para algo. Tengo pruebas de como dejamos el apartamento y testigos.

Single-​pane Windows cause water damage any time it’s warmer inside the apt than outside
Maintenance issues I ran into:
–It took way too long to fix the fridge when it wasn’t keeping food cold enough to prevent spoilage
–One of the burners on the oven gets dangerously hot when the oven is on… you have no idea it’s hot and touch it or set something on it = dangerous.
I was told by maintenance that they can’t fix it because that’s how the heat is ventilated and that’s just how the older ovens are built!!!
Safety does not seem to be a priority. There is STILL a huge piece of wood with 2 rusty nails that are probably 8 inches long FACING UP in the parking lot. It’s been there for weeks and I’ve called twice! = dangerous

The parking lot is an absolute disaster. The pot holes are completely covered when it rains and it’s easy to step in them! = dangerous
At least in front of my building, the lot slants down and all rain water floods the area you have to get through in order to get to the sidewalk/​to your building!
No noise management at all. One of my neighbors is blaring music at all hours to where I can hear it from anywhere in my apartment. The neighbor below smokes so much weed that my bathroom reeks of it sometimes. The neighbor in another building straight across from me blasts music all of the time! I’m all for enjoying your home but there is no respect for close living spaces here.
They don’t sublease at all, no matter what comes up. Only option is a buyout at 200% rent — even though that sucks, I’m actually putting in my notice tomorrow to do just that!

This place is decent, the place basically is selling Vitruvian Park. The down side of it is that these apartments are old and falling apart. Other then that, maintenance is either 24 hours and parking is not bad from my experience. Remember this place is falling apart; meaning water comes in the window seals, and there are cracks and holes. Paying rent and utilities is easy and convenient.
I forgot to mention Brookhaven College is very close to here. Another con is that the backyard has no cover for shade so your stuff will get rained on. The dish washer also stinks and I can’t bleach, vinegar or arm n hammer it out… And yes this place is still cracking/​splitting apart. Those are the bad. The good is everything else if you can live pass this.

I stand by my previous review. The reply comment from Jody of UDR is someone from the corporate office of UDR, a large business that owns apartments all across the country. Their corporate office is located in Colorado. She does not work at the Talisker of Addison, has never been in my former apartment, and only can see what she has on her computer in front of her.
She is correct in that the maintenance did come out once for the rat problem. They however only sprayed expandable foam besides the dishwasher. This stained the floor, looked awful, and only trapped the rodents in the walls. Within a week, our apartment reeked of dead rat. I followed up with maintenance, and their solution was to spray air fresher on the air filter.
They also came out due to the water quality and shower issues. They did not fix the shower head. They said because the furnace was older than me, the water regulation is inconsistent and we would just have to get used to it. As far as the mold and decaying tiles, they did «clean» them by spraying bleach on them. They said it would only come back so we should get bleach of our own. I am a neat freak, and I clean weekly. I have never had mold like this before grow in any home or apartment that I have lived in. They would never totally fix any issue. It was always, somewhat repair, paint, and tell you to deal with it. It is also not easy to get ahold of them. Yes, you can create online requests, but even when you say you have a pet and alarm system, they will still come into your place, set off the alarm, and then leave with you getting calls from the police while you are at work. One time they were driving away in their golf cart while I was rushing home from work because I was told there was an intruder. The cops and I arrived at the same time and the maintenance guys had just left. Every form I filled out had my phone number and PLEASE CALL BEFORE ENTERING on it.
She also denied that they only have to give you 30 days to make you vacate the property if they decide to demolish it to build nicer apartment that you are paying for while living there. I have it in writing, and my neighbors moved in after they had previously vacated a large portion of the property.
Also, when you pay your last month’s rent, you do have to call the billing center that she mentioned. This is also in Colorado and is a collection agency. You are not allowed to pay online because of course you would dispute the outrageous charges. So, when you call, they will not hear you out at all. In fact, I was hung up on and called names by one of the employees named Tina.
Talisker of Addison staff did return my phone call and apologize for the unprofessional and rude behavior of their corporate owner.

I have been living at Talisker for almost 3 ½ years and the service continues to decline. It seems that they do not give a darn about good and longtime residents who are their bread and butter. .in fact they don’t seem to think providing good service is at all essential to their business. If you feel the same please let them know. They are shameless!

I lived in Talisker for a year and it sucked. They will let, literally, anyone live there. We had neighbors who were blatantly selling narcotics, others who had unruly and rude children, people who would walk their overly aggressive dogs off leash, one of our neighbors had 6 cars and used all of the covered parking spaces, the amenities were laughable and the staff was rude and completely disinterested in helping the people who lived there. I’ve been gone for over a year now and someone I know sent a package there by mistake and I have been trying to get ahold of the front office for WEEKS to get the package returned to sender so that it can be re-​shipped to the correct address. I have yet to hear anything back from anyone and I’m completely irritated. It was bad enough that I had to deal with them when I lived there, but now I have to try to work with them on a problem from afar and it’s more ridiculous. Worst managed apartment complex ever.

I was going to wait to move out to write this review out of sheer fear of being further retaliated against by this leasing company but my new loud neighbors just moved in and I’m pissed. Highly pissed.
I’ve lived here for almost nine months and initially things were o.k. Rent was reasonable for such a great location. Wow right next to Vitruvian park! In walking distance to Tom Thumb! You can even pay rent and submit a service request online. Their maintenance does show up within a day which is great. Here’s where it goes downhill. The upstairs neighbor is so loud. So loud that I can hear urinating, walking, burping, muffled talking, water running, furniture moving and what I can only describe as professional wrestling because the movements are so aggressively loud. I thought he was a naturally loud walker so I asked if he could keep in mind he has neighbors but I realize that it wasn’t his fault. It’s the cheaply made building. He moved out and our new neighbors are worse. I can’t sleep at night because all the noise wakes me up at least 2 times every night. Then there’s the roaches. I clean my kitchen everyday. I vacuum and even have a professional grade carpet cleaner I use every 2 weeks or so. Yet roaches are abundant in this apartment. I kill at least 5 a day. To make matters worse they charge a $ 5 «pest control» fee every month. They’ve never once come to my apartment to do any kind of pest control so I’m not sure what I’m paying for. Most of the time when I call the leasing office the phone rings for all eternity and then goes to a machine. So either no one is in the office or they’re too busy to answer the phone. If either of these are the case could you at least set the phone to voice mail so our time isn’t being wasted? Why can’t someone answer the phone? Also, there’s at least 3 different numbers I have for the office. Which one am I supposed to call to get a human being? Sometimes if you get a package there’s no notice in your mail box or at your door and the postman will deliver it to the office. That’s no problem except that the office will not notify you that you have a package. I’ve waited weeks expecting a package only to finally ask the front desk and they say «oh yea we have it.» Once I was home alone getting ready for bed around ten to ten at night. There’s a knock at the door and it’s extremely dark out. My porch light is off. It was a man and all he kept saying was «maintenance» «maintenance «maintenance.» I did not request any maintenance and it’s 10 pm! He started to flash a light into the peep hole and this scared me even more. After five or so minutes of this I called 911. I was terrified. Someone was trying to get into my apartment pretending to be maintenance. Just then my boyfriend came home and it turned out the man was a maintenance man! The upstairs neighbor had a water issue and the maintenance man was checking to see if our apartment was ok. It didn’t matter to me. At this point I was shaking and nearly crying. I thought someone was trying to break in. The other scary thing is he said he was about to go get a key to my apartment so he could come in. What? I realize he was doing his job and never meant any harm but shouldn’t there be better protocols in place when there’s a need to enter an apartment? Like maybe calling the resident? He wasn’t even in uniform. Even if my porch light had been on I still wouldn’t have known who he was. Don’t leave a grocery bag on your patio or they’ll charge you $ 25. They seem to care a whole lot about what’s on your patio which I suppose is pretty standard but they don’t seem to care about how dead the lawn is. When you first enter the community the grass is lush and very attractive but the farther you get into the complex the worse the lawn gets. The ground around my building is just dirt and then other days it’s mud. Well I guess that’s not fair there’s some sprigs of grass and random trash but don’t have a grocery bag on your porch because it looks bad. What a joke! There was a fire in one of the apartment buildings one day. There were fire trucks, ambulances and police. It seemed like a big deal. I needed to go to the office that day (because they weren’t answering the phone). So I had to walk past the building that was now partially burnt. In between the burnt building and another building I saw what looked like at least two stacks of at least 4 feet high piles of tightly packaged squares. Drugs? Is that why it caught on fire? The office never let the community know what had happened. Why would you not send out a notice saying that there was a recent fire and that no one was harmed and here are some reminders on how to prevent fires in your apartment? The low rent has not been worth the headaches and stress of living here. There’s more to say but Unilocal has a character limit. I can’t wait to put this place behind me.

WARNING! This was the worst experience of my life. The apartment was infested with bed bugs. Not only did they not help pay to replace any of our furniture but they made us pay to replace the carpet on top of keeping our deposit. The facilities are absolutely disgusting. The staff did not care at all. If you want a BAD experience of a lifetime this place is for you. But I suggest you save your money and find a nicer place to rent. This review would not let me give it NO stars.

First The Bad:
Renters Beware, Just a completely awful place to live. Rude, incompetent staff, the place is filthy, the «amenities» are unusable. Other tenants are horrible, unruly children, and thuggish.
The Good:
Very cheap, I haven’t seen any bugs. Its close to 635 and the Tollway. Not too far from Uptown.
I moved here because the amount of money I would be saving was too hard to pass up. I’ve found what I saved in rent I lost in peace of mind. So not worth it.
Run away as fast as you can!
