What people don’t tell you when prepping for your wedding is how much your wedding photographer will do for you (if you hire someone as fantastic as Corey). Of course she will document your day in a way that is equally authentic and gorgeous (hello-​have you seen her portfolio?!) What you don’t expect– she will also make sure you are where you need to be on time, help you feel totally at ease, and keep your crazy ass family in line (well my family… I’m sure yours are nothing but lovely people with zero anxiety and no complicated feelings on a super high-​stress day).
Seriously, so much of your time on your wedding day is spent with the photographer. Corey is that photographer who you enjoy hanging out with, who isn’t going to bark orders at you, and gets you to feel comfortable so that you look like yourself in all these pictures.
My only regret is that we didn’t do an engagement session with Corey. There weren’t really wonderful portraits of the two of us, but that’s more a reflection on what awkward individuals my husband and I are, and our lack of practice posing for pictures before our wedding day.
Bottom line: hire Corey to shoot your wedding, and also hire her for an engagement shoot, even if you think you’re not «engagement portrait people.» It’s worth it.

I meant to leave this review a while ago, so this is long overdue! I saw some of Corey’s work online and knew instantly that she was someone I wanted to shoot my wedding – her photojournalistic style focused on people rather than things, an the fact that every just looked naturally happy & not posed! It was easy to set up an initial meeting, which was conveniently in person at her home office. I used to live in Astoria so I loved how accessible she was! My wedding took place 5 hours upstate in August, so there was some travel involved. I thought Corey was more than fair with the arrangements and extra cost in this.
So onto the big day itself: I chose the package with all-​day coverage with 2 photographers. My short review would be that Corey and Lauren [Marsh] were absolutely amazing! Corey went above and beyond day of and even the day before. Corey met up with us mid-​morning to start on photos of the girls getting ready while Lauren patiently followed the boys through their morning of video games, swimming in the lake, and lots of drinking before finally actually getting ready. As a result, we have a great dichotomy of pictures that are absolutely genuine. Corey was calm and helped out with tough decisions and helped managed the schedule and was someone I didn’t have to worry about at all. She entertained the random photo requests of my relatives, captured all the important moments without great attention, and basically contributed greatly to the memory of a wonderful day that went way too fast.

My husband and I first discovered Corey’s work through
, when we learned of her «One Free Wedding» service where she provides free photography to one couple annually who give back to their community. We’re incredibly grateful to have been chosen for the free wedding; regardless, I admire that Corey provides this service to couples who give back and have tight budgets. She also put us in touch with a videographer who was offering pro bono wedding video.
Corey photographed our wedding in June 2015. Though the wedding was in New York, where Corey is based, my husband and I live in Virginia. Corey had no trouble communicating via phone, email, and skype to ensure that we were prepared and had a timeline for the big day. The morning of the wedding, she and her assistant arrived and fell seamlessly into step. They had a very calm and cheerful presence and put everyone at ease.
Corey’s photography is powerful and emotional. Her work is documentary-​style; though we did take family portraits, she otherwise focused her lens on natural moments. She captured the feeling and energy of the day and it is a thrill to relive again and again.
I would absolutely suggest Corey to anyone looking for wedding photography and hope we have another occasion to work with her again.

My wife and I got married this past spring in NYC and we were fortunate enough to have Corey as our photographer. Leading up to the day she met with us a couple times and answered all our questions promptly with a nice friendliness and professionalism.
On the big day itself she was a gem: kind, friendly, calm, happy. We didn’t have a planner (or really much of a plan for that matter) and the was right there with a perfect level of very subtle orchestration.
Her eye for detail and unobtrusive style really captured the feeling of the day through a series of small moments and a few posed set pieces.
The pictures speak for themselves. They’re authentic, candid, beautiful, and stylish. My better half looks like a angel and she somehow managed to make me look decent. We now have a slideshow/​album that create a cool little narrative of a great day. Is it lame to say we put it on sometimes and have a glass of champagne?
I’ll speak for both of us and say we’d recommend Corey without hesitation.

My wife, Claire, and I were the lucky recipients of Corey’s One Free Wedding promotion which she gives out annually to one couple who do non-​profit, or community-​oriented work in NYC. We were amazingly fortunate to be chosen by Corey, and obviously the fact that she provided her services for free was incredible, but I suspect we would’ve ended up hiring her regardless of her generosity.
Corey was friendly and professional in all of our interactions, and her day-​of manner was unobtrusive and completely non-​stressful. In our experience, she brought exactly ZERO additional drama to an already hectic event, and even added a calming presence especially during our group/​family shots. The turnaround time on the photos was under her projected schedule, which was also great.
The best thing about Corey shooting your wedding day, is that she will find the moments you never knew existed or didn’t expect to ever be captured on film. Her journalistic style is what originally appealed to Claire and I. These are not «perfect» photos in the sense of traditional wedding photography — there might be a few closed eyes and some truly funny faces captured — but that’s what makes them so much better than others. The majority of wedding photos stale over time; Corey’s are the type that only improve every time you look at them.
Claire and I would happily recommend Corey to anyone in need of wedding photography!

Firstly, let me say that I have been in a few weddings in the past few years, and as a vendor, Corey was a standout professional. She was attentive and detail oriented in the planning stages and we felt entirely taken care of. We knew we were in good hands from the start which let us really relax in the lead up to the wedding.
On the day she was a calming presence, giving us everything we wanted and more while fitting seamlessly into the party atmosphere that we were building. We felt entirely comfortable when we were doing our couples shots and family shots before the wedding, we were always on schedule and were never worried that a single moment was being missed.
The photo’s themselves were absolutely beautiful. Corey’s work stood out for us when we started seriously looking for photographers because of the way she captured the life of the events she was shooting. You’ll find no stiff portrait shots in her portfolio. Every picture of the hundreds she sent us of our wedding day was beautifully framed, vibrant and an incredible reminder of the best party we will ever throw. She not only managed to capture all of the stand out moments that we remembered from the wedding, but so many little moments that we missed in all the hustle and bustle of getting married. It feels like we got to see every smile, every tear and every ridiculous dance move that happened in that barn. Her photos really told the story of our wedding and will stand as a reminder of the absolute joy of that day for the rest of our lives.
I don’t think we can recommend her highly enough for both her professionalism and the quality of her work.

My husband and I agreed on one thing when it came to finding our wedding photographer — their pictures needed to tell a story and capture the emotion behind each moment that day. With no friends to advise me (being the first to get married) I turned to all available resources before stumbling upon Corey’s blog. After viewing every single photo she had online, i immediately requested additional info and nearly gasped at the quote she gave me. For an entire days event it was the most reasonable photographer I had found, and with exactly the aesthetic we were hoping for. I booked Corey nearly a year in advance of our date, and it was worth it!
She and her assistant Lauren arrived early to scout out the various spaces at our venue, The Cosmopolitan Club of NY, before joining me as I was getting ready with my two bridesmaids. Both were very professional while still being super friendly, and we chatted like friends while they snapped away. We managed to get our posed shots done in record time, an hour before guests started to arrive, and once things began I didn’t notice them at all throughout the rest of the night. Our guests even commented that the few times they did notice her, she was like a photog-​ninja, deftly jumping in for a shot without getting in anyone’s way. The one photo she emailed us the following day made it impossible to wait for the rest three months later!
NYE we received an email from her with a link to all of our images, and a message saying she was sending us the USB drive with all the files shortly, and witha little gift. She had chosen her favorite shots and printed out several large pictures for us to frame and included a small booklet as our own personal album (neither of which I knew I was going to receive at all!). All of our guests love the photos (including our wedding photog friend!) and commented that she really captured beautiful moments that otherwise might get overlooked (our ring boy playing with toy cars) and the high energy hilarious moments as the party ramped up. I could not have found a more ideal photographer to capture our special day. I highly recommend Corey and Lauren to help you capture the love and joy that surrounds you on your wedding day like few other photographers can.

Corey shot our wedding this summer in NYC. She was awesome! She did a great job capturing all the special little moments of the day and we are so pleased with our photos! Corey was great to work with — easy-​going, organized, professional. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

We used Corey for our wedding less than two years ago and were disappointed with our photographs. Everything from the lighting to the composition was poor and specific moments we had hoped to capture, were missed and cannot be replaced. We would not recommend.

Nothing but the best for my little brother’s wedding. I had seen Corey’s great work on her blog, and after no luck in finding someone we trusted in San Antonio, TX (where the wedding was held), I asked if Corey would be willing to travel to the Great State of Texas to do little bro’s wedding.

I love Corey Torpie and her photos! I have had three experiences with Corey – twice for weddings and once for a family session. At the first wedding I was impressed with how in sync her creative vision was with the couple getting married. Their engagement photos were the most beautiful photos I have ever seen and inspired another friend to hire Corey. At the second wedding I was impressed with how she melted into the bridesmaids and no one felt self-​conscious about being photographed. She is thoughtful, conversational, and focused on getting interesting angles without dive-​bombing the moment.
At both weddings, we called her a ninja because she was ever-​present but not obtrusive. I agree with the other reviewers that any one with a decent camera can take formal photos (and Corey’s are great) but her candids really capture the chemistry of the moment and the spirit of the celebration. Because of her ability to capture the unique moments we asked her to do a family portrait session for us.
She really captured the energy of our son as well as our love for him. She rolled with the toddler tantrums (even getting some great shots of his pouty face for posterity) and didn’t even mind that he was in his slept-​in pjs. She chased us around a park, jumped out from behind trees, and let us relax into being on camera and now we have photos that look like they belong in an ad campaign. Thank you Corey!

We used Corey for our August wedding and are thrilled with our photos.
Our needs: photo-​journalistic photographer, well priced, good reputation, and creativity. Corey has it all, and some.
She showed up on time, and while the ladies were getting ready in the tiny hotel room, we sometimes forgot she was even there. She goes with the flow, is very laid back and takes great shots. After the ceremony, when I was trying to coordinate my wedding party, frazzled, I asked Corey for help. In a matter of seconds, everyone was where they needed to be, and pics were done in minutes — it was great!
We went on the east river ferry and she took amazing shots of my family and friends.
At the reception in Dumbo, she captured everything from the dances, the cake, and all the awesomeness sandwiched between. She captured nearly everyone of our 150 guests on camera.
We are so happy to have the day’s special moments captured by Corey. I would highly recommend Corey for your wedding photo needs!

We recently hired Corey Torpie for our wedding in MA, and couldn’t have been happier with the results.
During our search for a photographer, we were looking for someone who could capture our day in a unique and creative, but beautiful way. Looking through Corey’s blog (
) we were excited by what we saw, her pricing was very reasonable, and through emails and a meeting over soup dumplings, we concluded she would be the perfect photographer for us.
We really liked that Corey did not charge by the hour, or limit her coverage to certain hours, but stays until she feels she’s captured the entire day. During the wedding, Corey was always in the background and never in the way, and I still can’t believe some of the images that she was able to capture. I also really liked that she took a ton of photos of guests– I think we have almost everyone at our 125 person affair in at least one photo. We did do a couple of formal pictures which are beautiful, but Corey’s real skill lies in capturing candids. Some of the photos from the dance party that ensued at our reception are some of our favorites of the entire day. Anyone with a decent camera can take a decent wedding formal photo, but Corey is amazing at capturing distinct moments of the day. This is one talented young lady.
Lastly, Corey was an absolute pleasure to work with. She’s very laid back and sweet, but assertive when she needs to be. I would highly recommend hiring Corey!

Corey was the most awesome and most rock star photographer we could have ever hoped to have for our wedding! Hands down. No question.
Our biggest criteria when looking for a wedding photog was price, creativity, and whether or not we felt comfortable spending hours with them before and during the wedding. It was obvious that Corey was the whole package.
From the beginning I knew I didn’t want the most traditional of weddings and more than anything I knew I didn’t want a big gold lined leather-​bound book of posed big white smiles and stiff poses. The photographs are what will last forever and I wanted them to look as real and as true to the spirit of the day as possible. When I told Corey that she replied:
«Oh, dude, I totally agree» and proceeded to show me her amazing portfolio of wedding shots. My knees went weak and my heart skipped a beat. I knew I had found… the one.
She isn’t a pushy photographer — you know the type — put your hand here, smile, look at him, look at me, move your feet, turn, turn, turn… While she does give direction and helps to set up amazing shots she was also helping us to feel comfortable to be our own goofy selves and the photos completely reflected it — both from the wedding and from the engagement shoot. (We shot the engagement photos in August and people STILL tell me how amazing they are!.. we haven’t shared our wedding photos with faceb. err everyone yet — but when we do I know people won’t stop ogling them either)
Looking back at our photos (which I do once a week), we know how lucky we are to have had Corey behind the lens capturing everything wonderful and fantastic for us.
