I had such a great experience that I had to leave a review. I was loaded up in my Pathfinder this weekend to go camping and my car died on me on Mopac. I had AAA and the driver suggested Galaxy and even called the manager since it was 4:30 PM and Manuel said he would take a quick look. Knowing that I was loaded up for camping he quickly got the needed part and had me ready to go first thing in the morning. Great experience and I will definitely be back.

So it was one of those days at 4pm when your car won’t start and AAA suggests they tow your car to their recommended place, Galaxy Automotive. Taking a chance, I called and got a quote for a new fuel gage, which is what the tow truck driver said was the issue. Galaxy said they would look at it the next morning and call me. They called when they said they would and advised it wasn’t a fuel gage, but a rodent chewed some wiring. They would have it fixed that day and gave a new less expansive quote. They even texted me pictures of the damage. Such great service! I had my car back that day. Highly recommend!

I’m so happy to see that this place is under new management. The new owner is very pleasant and full of knowledge. I come from a small town and I get a small town feel from them like they have your best interest and not trying squeeze every dollar from you. I highly recommend them! I urge you to give this trustworthy company a chance. It’s not everyday you come across honest mechanics!

Went in for an the ordinary oil change. Car needed much more love than that. And I knew that going in. The wrench was lit up on my 99 Honda CRV and went ahead with service here instead of dealer that was too busy to see me. Manuel here at Galaxy was extremely patient and knowledgeable. So much in fact I went ahead and bought a set of 4 Goodyear tires here as well. Got a competitive price. He even showed me the competition pricing online. As he was placing the tire order, the place said all drivers were out. Manuel said, no sweat I’ll come and get them. And off he went. Wasn’t long. Everything was awesome! Even replaced brake light free!!! Probably shouldn’t mention that. I’ll be back.

This is a great place to take your car for state inspections, oil changes and any maintenance you might need. We started using them when our vehicles went off of warranty and they are just as skilled as the mechanics at dealerships and charge a lot less for the repairs. The staff are friendly and and always do a great job of explaining the labor and parts that will be needed for a repair. They have worked on my seat belts, air-​conditioning system and brakes on my Toyota Highlander Hybrid and I have been very happy with the results! They offer a AAA discount, so don’t forget to ask for that when you check out.

I’ve gone here 5+ years for inspections, oil changes, tire repair, and other minor work, and my experience with them as always been good. They were quick, did the job right, charged a fair price, and there was nothing in the way of upselling or other games.

I took my Xterra here a few days ago, and had a wonderful experience, I actually went back two days in a row. First for an inspection, then for an A/​c recharge.
I wasn’t expecting to get them done so close together, otherwise I would’ve done it all at once.
I called a few places around me for quotes, and expected wait times.
Reasons I will be a reaccuring customer:
1) best price quotes
2) best wait times,(went during the weekdays before 5)
3) Didn’t try to push any unwanted services on me, and did exactly what I had asked for
4) Explained to me the services they performed on my car. (They have a new high-​tech A/​C recharge system machine, which made my A/​C freezing!)
5) Answered my questions about future services I may need without pushing anything on me at all (being a girl I really appteciated that, I do occasionally have family around that can look at my car, so I at least I can start with a reference point.)
6) Friendly and professional service in person, as well as over the phone. Definitely recommending them to my family and friends!
PS The awesome mechanic who worked on my car, had mentioned briefly, about getting new management back when, during the A/​c conversation, so I believe all those previous reviews from years ago shouldn’t be regarded any longer for this great auto place!

Been going here off and on for oil changes for the past 18 years. Prices are always very fair and they won’t give you the runaround or try to upgrade you. It’s under new management now but, thankfully, they retained the experienced mechanic from the previous staff. Smart move. He’s a seasoned veteran of the industry who attended a high quality school in Minnesota. He reminds me of my brother who’s been fixing and restoring cars since he was 7. He just seems to love what he does and takes pride in his work. I’ll be going back for a tune up and a few other things in hopes of stretching the lifespan of my ’01 Tacoma to twenty years. I let him know this and he really seemed to listen and understand my goals, even suggesting ways to cut costs. It’s so hard to find a cooperative and knowledgeable mechanic. I’ll upgrade this to 5 stars if my next visit goes well.
Side note: It’s a bit counter intuitive to get to this place, especially from the south: Do a u-​turn at either the Arbor Walk light on MOPAC or at the 360 exit on 183, and STAY ON THE ACCESS ROAD. It’s right across Hyridge St. from the Hyridge Grocery.

AAA towed my car to them after sitting almost a year. I had to get rid of SUV or start driving it. They were great. Ran a diagnostic and explained everything. (I knew most of the issues) They were right on target. Its been weeks now and SUV running well. One issue cropped up, I took it back and they fixed it quickly with no additional charges. New ownership and many of the folks that were there before are gone. They have purchased newer equipment and really making a go of it. (AAA brings all their trucks here too). They have renamed the place GALAXY Automotive and have the other place closer to downtown. My experience has been a very pleasant one.

I had my car towed here after it broke down on the side of the road. It turned out that since my gas was low, the gas had sloshed back on a hill and exposed the fuel pump, making the engine shut down. I hadn’t realized this was the problem, since the gas gauge showed it wasn’t very close to empty. The mechanic could have lied and charged me a lot but instead only charged the minimum amount for checking the car. I found that they were extremely trustworthy, nice, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

My passenger side headlamp has been out on my 2008 Lexus RX400h. Its been like that for a few months now. I was pulled over by the Pflugerville Police and they gave me a warning. I guess it is illegal to drive without a headlamp in Texas.
The headlamp also had allot of condensation inside. The water seem to clear up during the winter months. I took the RX400h to the Lexus dealer and they said that the entire assembly, ballast and bulb would need to be replaced. Total cost $ 1900! The cost break down was $ 1000 for the headlamp assembly $ 500 for the ballast, $ 200 for the bulb and $ 200 for labor.
I called Lexus Customer Care telling them that it seem widely expensive for one headlamp. They agreed to help by taking 10% off. I did have to wait 2 days for there answer. I decided not to get the work done at the Dealership.
I purchased a ballast on Ebay for $ 127. I sealed the edges with some clear silicone sealant for $ 5. I went to Mopac Auto Service and had them removed the bumper and replaced the ballast. Everything worked fine. I think the original bulb worked fine too, but we replaced it with the $ 12 bulb I got on Amazon. The labor was $ 200 for 2 hours of work! The mechanic said there was allot of corrosion around the ballast, probably due to water damage, so hopefully my sealant will help water proof the ballast for a few years.

Jesse is the owner-​not the mechanic, and is a GREAT guy. He needs a more competent staff, and apparently trustworthy, staff.

Part 1–
I knew I was going to need new tires this year (2012) and had already done the research. In December, I had a flat tire on the expressway and because there was a bubble in the tire, I needed to replace it. I had been to Mopac Auto Service before to fix flats and they’d been very helpful. I told them I wanted a Michelin Energy Saver A/​S. They had to order the tire and said they’d call me when it came in. They didn’t.
I drove down late the following day and they said they couldn’t find my phone number. I was told I needed to replace all of my tires as they had cracks in them. They put on the new tire, I paid the bill $ 200.10 and left.
When I got home I searched
and found out that tires get cracks in them due to normal wear and tear and it doesn’t mean they’re defective. Hmmm.
Part 2–
At the end of April I decided it was time to replace the other 3 tires and ordered them online through Sam’s Club ($ 145.36 per tire). They came in on May 1 and I took the car in the same day and had them replaced. The paperwork they gave me suggested that I register the tires on

As I was registering the new tires I decided I should register the other tire. When I went to get the information off of the tire (it wasn’t on the invoice), I noticed there was something funny about the dot number. Upon closer inspection. .. they’d sold me a Michelin Harmony! Now I’m stuck having to buy another tire! The only good news is that the money I saved by not going back to Mopac Auto Service will pay for the 4^th tire.

After reading the other reviews, my guess is that they are good to some people and not to others. It also looks like most of the one-​star ratings are female. I call that a «big red flag.»

I took my car to Mopac Auto Service after a great initial experience, but my mind was quickly changed.
They told me they could not pass my car for inspection because of a ‘power steering leak’ — I could find no such leak. However, they offered to fix it in-​house, for a mere $ 550!
Not feeling right about it, I took my car to Alan’s on N. Lamar, where they told me that leaks aren’t even an item covered in standard state inspections — only fluid levels are. As my fluid levels were fine, the (imaginary) leak was not an issue, and they passed my car.
Do not trust these men — they’re scam artists!!!

Dropped by with a leaky tire. Was immediately greeted by the car detail guy. Manager/​mechanic Dean Johnson came right over too. When we looked at it we saw a nail in the sidewall. Dean Johnson called NTB for me to see about the tire. I decided to go to the dealership because my tires are unusual. But the guy was just super helpful and nice. I mentioned this to my coworker and she said he had given her a ride back to our office one day when her car was in his shop. Just a really nice guy. Said the previous staff had annoyed many a customer. But that things were different. I think they deserve business. Said they do full service gas (!) at self service prices.

This is a great neighborhood full service gas station and auto shop where I love to take my car. Big kudos to the mechanic Jesse — always talk to the guy who did the actual work. I prefer local and at three blocks from house it’s the best local deal I’ve found. Gas is the same price as the convenience store across the street and you can get air in your tires too.

I used to live and work nearby so I have to Mopac Auto a few times for oil changes, inspections, flat tire patching etc. and always had good results. Several friends have also taken their cars there for minor work and had good results. Overall their pricing seems fair but they quoted me really high for a brake job last year so I just bought the parts and did it myself pretty easily for about ¹⁄₃ of the quoted amount.

As a single female that has limited knowledge about cars, if I find a reputable garage I generally stick with it. I may have limited knowledge about cars, but I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. I have been driving long enough to know how to check my fluids, my tires, etc… I have a basic knowledge of thermostats, radiators, batteries, alternators, timing belts, serpentine belts, catalytic converters, transmissions, etc… I may not know how to fix all these things, but I know what they are, the purposes they serve and how to keep them in good working order.
I am very consistent about getting my oil changed every 3k miles and for years I went exclusively to MoPac Auto for that type of upkeep. I go somewhere else for major repairs, but they were always quick, friendly, and I never felt like they were screwing me over.
Until one day when I went to get my oil changed. It was a new group of guys than the ones that used to work there, but the owner has been the same for years. It’s a long story, but basically one of two things happened. They were either negligent in topping off the fluids when they did the oil change or they deliberately drained my fluids. I got 2 other professional diagnosis before going back to address it w/​MoPac Auto. It caused extensive damage to my car and when I tried to address the problem with Mr. Hemeida (the owner), he walked away as I was in mid-​sentence. Yes, folks you heard right. He walked away as I was speaking to him. I’m a pretty docile person and wasn’t yelling or anything. I filed a complaint with the BBB but they never responded. I’m really surprised they are still a BBB business. Maybe it was just a one time mistake, but it cost me thousands of dollars and Mr. Hemeida’s unwillingness to even listen to my complaint ensured that I will never go back there again.

The guys at Mopac are honest and fair. I would give them a 5 rating but for some reason I don’t think I can give that to a mechanic.
I have 2000 VW Jetta, the ones that were manufactured in Mexico, the ones that they had to stop making there because of their terrible electronic wiring!!! Well anyways, in 2006 my right headlight keep going out… I took it to shops and dealers and every guy talked to me like I was an idiot and put a new light (which was not the problem) When I moved to Austin in May 2007 I took it to Mopac and told them the same story to one of the mechanics Robert who actually listened! Long story short… they listen to you and find the problem, sometimes if its minor… they wont even charge you for the service.
I take my car for servicing, oil changes, and inspections. They give you coupons if you go regularly and it knocks $ 3 off a service. Also some days they have oil change specials for $ 23.95
