History

Established in 2015.

Write Guide NYC’s President Yih Lee began tutoring since 2001 in Manhattan and Queens. As he honed his skill as an educator and a counselor to young students, Yih founded Write Guide to help English tutors connect with students struggling with reading, writing and public speaking. Write Guide NYC wants to do more than help students improve their grades and SAT scores. Write Guide NYC wants to increase a student’s confidence in the classroom and outside of it, finding their voice through the stroke of a pen.

Meet the Business Owner

Yih L.

Business Owner

With more than 15 years of experience in education and journalism, Yih Lee specializes in tutoring students of various ages, backgrounds and skill levels. Yih first tutored inner-city children in Chinatown, New York as a junior at Stuyvesant High School. He discovered his innate talent to teach and relate to students. As a graduate of Emory University, Yih received numerous academic awards and landed writing jobs at premier media companies such as CNN, NPR, WNYC, and TheFly. As he honed his skills as an educator, however, Yih realized a growing need for students struggling with the English language. More than simply a high school class, writing is a life skill that seeps into every other subject or profession. As a result, Yih discovered a student’s confidence to write has a direct relationship with their overall confidence as a student and employee. Yih makes it his personal mission to make better writers of the next generation, honing their voice for whatever their future holds.
