Established in 2006.

AC in NYC is Brooklyn based and has been Installing, Delivering and Selling Air Conditioners in the NYC area since 2006.

Having installed thousands of AC units over the years, we pride ourselves on providing great customer service and getting the job done in a quick, clean and professional manner.

We are also big on the environment. Working with Energy Star efficient Air Conditioners and using green materials which limit their impact on the environment and save you money.

I can’t recommend this guy highly enough. Max is friendly, professional, and prompt. He does beautiful work – very clean application of silicone around the plexiglass and so forth. I had a window unit installed in another room a year ago, and Max was not only more professional but more affordable as well. His service could not have been better.

Just had a new AC delivered and installed by Max. I reached out to him late Tuesday to explain what I needed, and he responded quickly with recommendations, and arranged a time to install. As of Thursday afternoon I have my new AC installed beautifully!
Max is very responsive, shows up when he says he will, and is a pleasure to work with. After the work was done, he cleaned up the area. When we were settling up, he advised that the AC he purchased was on sale, so the price was less than he quoted. He did not need to tell me that — that showed that he is an honest, stand up guy.
TL;DR: Very friendly, reliable, and honest + quality work + reasonable rates. You cannot go wrong with him.

Max is fantastic – prompt, efficient, very thorough, and super friendly. He cleaned up afterward so the apartment is tidy and COOL – at last! The Super installed my last unit and didn’t take the same care as Max; I’m totally confident that this unit is secure and properly sealed. I sent Max a message last night and he responded with a quote in about 10 minutes. Fast forward to today, Memorial Day, and he gave me a call to let me know he was in my neighborhood and could uninstall/​reinstall my current air conditioner today. Memorial Day? What? Max just left a little bit ago and I have to say, I’m completely blown away (bad joke intended) by his service.
I bought a window a/​c back in March for my birthday (Hooray, I’m so lame!) and have been lazy about getting it installed because up until yesterday, I wasn’t sure if it was ever going to be hot enough for it. kidding, obviously. kinda.
Last night when I, like I’m sure everyone else in NYC, realized it was actually summer, I sent a message to Max. Fast forward less than 24 hours and I’m now basking in my ice cold living room.
Max was so kind, friendly, and had hands down the best rate/​highest Unilocal ratings of all 8 other places I got quotes from.
On my end, the install was incredibly smooth and easy, so all around this was best case scenario.
I cannot recommend him enough, there simply aren’t enough stars in the sky, or on Unilocal,to say how awesome he is.
10⁄10 would let him install a/​c again.

I didn’t get any services from this company because the air conditioner I have isn’t one that they specialize in, but the communication I had with Max regarding my issue was efficient and timely. He was extremely helpful and even went as far as to look at photos of my air conditioner unit just to see if there was anything else he could do to help me.

All the Unilocal reviews nailed it — Max is great. Got back to me right away with my first inquiry and was able to swing by my place within a day. I had an obstruction that was preventing my AC going in the window due to building construction and Max was super cool and came back two days later when it was fixed. So easy. And he did a great job! Highly recommend to anyone that wants an AC install that goes exactly as you want it to — zero hassle with someone who really knows what they are doing.

Reached out to Max Friday for a quote after doing my research on other installers in the area. His price was very reasonable for 2 small AC units to be installed. He replied quickly and booked me for Monday. He came 10 min early, was prompt, efficient, clean, and could not be nicer! He even checked my new AC units to see if they are working correctly, showed me how to properly clean the filters before he left and answered all questions! I reached out to Max and several other AC installers on a Friday and Max made efforts to accommodate me Saturday morning! He had the best price available and didn’t try to upsale me when it turned out I didn’t need a particular type installation. NY is expensive enough as is lol! He did a beautiful job installing my AC and plexiglass on my 44inch window. Not to mention, he was just a generally nice guy. It’s always a pleasure to find someone in NYC who does an excellent job at their trade, is friendly, and isn’t trying to overcharge you. Max was prompt and efficient!

Our knight in shining armor!!! Max saved the day and our summer. Max was responsive, extremely helpful and super easy to work with. He showed up on time did not waste a minute installing our two AC units. He was so sweet with my 3 year old niece who had a million questions for him. Max did a truly stellar job, barring one small thing.
The good was: clear and very fast communication, honest pricing, and a patience when the installation turned out to be more complicated than he originally imagined (due to our funky window). The job is very attractive and has truly fixed a part of the apartment that has bugged us for years.
One thing that keeps Max from getting 5 stars is that he didn’t know that there are support brackets that can be installed without screws. My very particular landlord had demanded this and I told Max it’s what I needed. He said it wasn’t possible and I believed him, in part because the reviews on Unilocal were so, so excellent. A few days later I found a product on Amazon that does just what I needed:

I would happily have paid extra of course, but I just don’t think Max knew. Other than that though, he truly did excellent work. Maybe if you need something a little unusual like I did, just make sure to do a little homework.

Absolutely amazing service. I called today to check his availability for AC installation. Initially I had called another company who had given me a higher quote and a later installation date. Max texted back and said he could do it today. With the warm weather, I felt I had won the lottery. He came on time, was friendly, super efficient, and did a beautiful job at a reasonable price. I then asked him to check another AC unit in my apt to see if it was installed correctly. He ended up redoing everything. After he was finished, he even asked for my hand vac to clean up the area — such service and attention to detail. I highly recommend this company and Max. He is the best!

Indeed. Over the weekend, it was so hot I didn’t bother to properly install my window AC unit, just have it on the window sill and next thing I know, my beloved cat has escaped in the middle of the night. She was found a few hours later but that ordeal left me traumatized.
I called a few places, not only does AC in NYC got back to me within hours, their quote is also the cheapest. $ 100 for the basic installation, while some other place quote me $ 200 if I want it to be done right away (the next day). And Max is willing to come ON THE SAME DAY AT 9PM.
The installation process was quick, efficient, professional. Amazing service. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I’m literally chilling in my cool apartment with the AC cranked up to write this review, thanks to Max at AC in NYC. I emailed in the morning and he responded within 15 minutes with answers to all my questions, a great quote for AC unit, delivery, and installation, and an appointment for the very next day. The next day he showed up early and had everything done in 30 minutes. He went above and beyond: Got me a quality brand unit, securely installed it and the window bracket, caulked and sealed all around it to maximize efficiency, and took the time to thoroughly clean everything up, including tidying away the box and other trash. Plus, he was just a nice guy. We chatted about gentrification in Brooklyn and finding good food in Harlem.
I hear they do service and will remove and reinstall your unit when you move, so I will definitely be calling them again.
One little note: They require cash since they don’t require any deposit upfront, so be sure you’ve got the money I hand before investing in AC installation. But if you do, be sure to call Max and the folks at AC in NYC.

Max did a great job installing our 12,000 BTU window unit after my husband’s valiant but failed attempt. I had to cancel my first appointment at the last minute and was able to reschedule with no problem (his next available was 2 days later, but that’s to be expected during a hot week in NYC). He even stuck around to make sure the AC was working properly after he installed it. He does prefer payment in cash, so try to have some on hand (psst, Max: look into getting Venmo, Square Cash, or Chase QuickPay :)) Thanks, Max! We’re no longer sweaty thanks to you.

Max did an amazing job with installing pexi-​glass to my Window A/​C unit!
1. I slept through our first appointment and he had no problem at all rescheduling.
2. He did a perfect installation of the pexi-​glass which helps eliminate about 90% of the street noise from the accordion side panels.
3. It looks fantastic!

Max at AC in NYC is amazing. He was responsive to emails and easy to schedule with. We had two window A/​C units installed last week (one new and one that we previously used) and about an hour after install the new unit began to make a horrible clunking noise. We ended up taking out the new, defective unit and returning it to the store, and Max was prompt and willing to deliver us a different brand A/​C unit and install it within a day.
He was extremely polite and funny. Prices were certainly fair, especially since another window A/​C installer quoted me 4 times the price for the same initial service. Highest recommendations for Max and his excellent installation skills!

I’m a serial Unilocal lurker (mostly for restaurants) and have to have really really good, or really really bad service to write a review.
Fortunately in this case, it’s definitely the former. Max takes a lot of pride in doing the installation right. You can see him making sure everything is level and sturdy. We had 3 AC units for him — two new and one that was left by the former owner of our place. The latter was older and part of it had broken off. Max completely re-​did the way he installed it to accommodate for the broken bit. He managed to do all 3 units within the hour (including lugging one downstairs.)
Max showed up a few minutes early and as others have mentioned, was courteous and informative. He even used caulking to make sure the units were sealed right and left us weather stripping for when winter comes (because WINTER IS COMING, people). He showed me how to clean the filters on the different ACs as well.
I would highly highly recommend him. Some things in NYC are a total rip off, he is definitely not one of them.

Great service. I emailed for a quote to install my window unit and Max got back to me right away. The quote was about what I expected and he was very flexible in days/​timing to come out and install.
Once here he got right to work and had to spend extra time uninstalling my window guards. Then put in the a/​c pretty quickly, but was very thorough and clearly knew what he was doing. He gave me a quick rundown of what he did and made sure it was running properly. Would definitely recommend for a/​c installation.

Max just saved me $ 300! I called to see if this company cleans A/​C units. He asked me why I need it cleaned and I said I thought that you were supposed to, so that it’s more efficient. He told me the only thing I ever personally need to clean is the filter. Other than that, the A/​C is a closed unit and I never need to clean the back side unless there is mold. Other companies charge $ 300 for A/​C cleaning and he said that the cleaning is only cosmetic. THANK YOU!!!

Quick on email and concise in explaining the window AC world to a new NYC resident who had lots of questions! Max suggested cost effective energy efficient units and allowed us to procure them on our own to save on delivery costs. So, my old roommate found a working AC. And had her uncle’s dudes install it in her bedroom window, and install a gate over that. And used it all summer.
Fast forward: she moves out, and I move into the bedroom to find that the giant gate over the window prevents me from fixing the AC, which wasn’t installed level and has been leaking into the bedroom. After avoiding using the AC, I finally cracked.
And I called Max.
Best. Decision. Ever.
I called him Wednesday morning. He offered to buy and pick me up the right-​sized AC for my bedroom, uninstall the old AC, install the new AC the NEXT MORNING, and get rid of the old AC unit.
He said he’d be there at 9 — he was there at 9. He quoted me an all-​inclusive price — he stuck to that price. He pointed out exactly how terrible a job the previous guys had done (it was pretty terrible) and went about installing a powerful, beautiful AC.
If you’ve lived in any New York apartment, you’ve seen some janky stuff. Spackle used as caulk, paint used to «fill» holes in plaster, you name it. But Max did some gorgeous workmanship on this AC. He braced the frame and the sash so the vibrations wouldn’t completely rattle the window. He added insulation between the two panes. And he moved the AC down in the window so it’s actually, you know, stable.
To top it off, he’s a funny, nice guy — my boyfriend and I def high-​fived when we felt that first blast of cool, crisp air. I can’t recommend these dudes enough.
