Jalen Management

Sadly you cannot leave a «0» stars in any Unilocal review which is a shame because that is all that Jalen Management deserves in the scheme of things and I feel even the single star is too generous. They managed my buildings property needs with high levels of both disorganization and confusion. Paperwork was never in order much less correct and despite what was asked of them would end up costing us money based on their lack of followup, timeliness or processing. As a resident who would call for occasional needs I would be always told no one was available to speak or I would be called or emailed back. Very rarely did that happen so matters always had to be brought to the property board members as a last recourse for any resolution. Their incompetence always seemed to cost owners more money which is hardly the actions of a company working with you. I honestly cannot believe they are in business at all much less for as long as they state. Avoid if at all possible. Unless you want to throw money away. Fortunately my property has moved on from this company so perhaps in time all their disruptions will have been rectified.

We have been absolutely delighted by the service Jalen Management has provided our cooperative since they came on board at the beginning of last year.
Susan D. and Paula Z. have wonderful communication skills and have been emailing paperwork we need within hours of our requests.
This means not only are they responsive, but that they have the needed paperwork scanned electronically and available at their fingertips.
Not living in the area, simple, clear and quick communication is the difference for us between easy breezy and a major stressor on our lives.
Coop management is a tough job, and they have really gone the extra mile to serve us.

Absolutely the worst management company that I have ever dealt with. They don’t cash checks in a timely fashion, don’t make repairs, don’t call you back or email you back or communicate at all. Do not, under any circumstances rent from them unless you absolutely have to. Additionally until recently their only email address was something like
. I mean, that is just totally absurd. That was the one email address for the entire company which hardly matters because they don’t reply to emails anyway.

Failed to fix doorbells of 1620 e2nd street for the past five years after numerous complaints. Gathering tenants from all across brooklyn to file class law sue against them. Properly owners who plan to work with them please beware of the possible liability issues.

I never get a straight answer from them when I call about things from a leaky window to issues about maintenance. When my wife calls to talk to the property manager for our building she is told that he is not available for a couple of days, then told that he was in all week and available to take calls. This company is shady and full of incompetence. Beware!!!

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Seriously. I don’t care how much you like the apartment you’re looking at, do not get in bed with these people if they’re in charge of your building.
My apartment itself is great and the management company *for my apartment* (AWaye) has been really helpful. However, I’ve had a host of issues over the last few months that Jalen has been completely unwilling to help me resolve.
The heat in my building is either not working at all or pumping out 100 000 degree heat. The hot water works the same way. Several times, I have turned on my shower to see bright blue or pink water shooting out of the hose. When I asked why this was happening, I was told they were using chemicals to flush rust out of the pipes. I asked them why they didn’t notify the building, they flat out refused to do it. Great.
Like I said, if these dirtbags have anything to do with an apartment, please do yourself a favor and move somewhere else.

Not sure why this piece of stool business is called «Management». My cat can manage my apartment better than these people. Makes me wonder how they get contracts at all, and how did I end up with them. The problems started way before we moved in, but now I’ve been fighting with them to get my moving-​in deposit back for over a month, and I keep getting new information every time I call. And I’ve already called about it over 10 times. They still have previous owner on file after 3 months since we’ve moved in. Nobody seem to know what’s going on or give any clear answers over the phone, and most of the time I get «oh, the only person who knows about this is not in, call tomorrow».

I would give it a ZERO! Worst management I ever encountered!!! I have a problem with my maintainance bill. Sent them letters and receipts as in reference that I paid. They said they didn’t received it blah. blah. blah. and keep on sending me the wrong billing statement that they charge me with and on top of that with late payments!!!
THIS IS A VERY VERY HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! THE PEOPLE ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL AND THEY ARE SLOW AND THEY DON’T KEEP THEIR FILES UPDATED!

If there was a way to give these people a zero I would. My building has been using them for about 4 or 5 years now and it has been one issue after another. They lie, never answer emails, and the word rude doesn’t even begin to explain them. I’ve had to chase them down for a number of reasons. If you need something, plan it a month in advance. When it comes to your maintenance they’re on top of you like hawks but God forbid you need something. They cost me money in building fines because they lie. They’ve covered up all sorts of nonsense without any reservations. If you or any one else even thinks about using them you’re better off burning your money in the fireplace.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I am not exactly sure if they are completely inept, or the situation is, like they claim, that their landlords are making them be ineffective because they are bullies. You better keep copies of your checks and a log of your dealings with them because they deflect all responsibility for everything. Don’t do any business with them EVER.

So just when I think things are over with this hellhole of a management company, I get a forwarded mail from National Grid that someone fraudulently opened up an account with them under my wife’s name. And the most insane part of this all is that her name was never on the lease. EFFF JALEN MANAGEMENT!!!

Absolutely the worst management company I have ever dealt with as a renter. From now on, every time I rent I will be checking to make sure this place isn’t involved.
