Sara Bielanski Voice Studio- Voice Lessons, Cambridge and Boston

This is a long overdue review for Sara, who is excellent. I only had the opportunity to work with her for a few months, but she is highly qualified and very professional. She suggested that I make recordings of each lesson, which proved to be a helpful resource in between classes. She was also quick to identify weaknesses in my singing, and select music that would help me develop in those areas.
On top of that, she does not charge as much as she should (yet). Go now, before that changes!

I had the great fortune of coming across Sara’s page one day while doing a google search for voice lessons. Sara’s professional and concisely constructed web page impressed me and I sent her an email. She answered promptly in a friendly, professional tone and as soon as Boston’s incessant snowstorms came to a halt, I went to my first lesson, just «to see» what it would be like. In that class, not long after the initial «Can I get you a glass of water?» I realized that it would be the first of many I would have with Sara.
Sara is extremely talented, patient, clear in her instruction and the lessons are quite frankly, a blast! She has a great sense of humor and a unique way in demonstrating concepts, to the point where at times I cannot keep a straight face and we need to «take it from the top» again. She is an astute observer and knows how to select music that will fit your taste and personality, whether it be jazz, classical, or any other form.
In the couple of months that I have been studying with Sara, my voice has improved significantly. I had my first lesson with a minimal range, and am now able to hit notes I never thought would be within my capability. Sara’s enthusiasm and encouragement has further motivated me to practice outside of class, both at the piano and even while driving and using a fantastic app she had advised me to download that provides instrumental backup in various keys and tempos.
Sara is a mix of experience, skill and pizzazz and I look forward to continuing to learn from her in the coming months. I would recommend her to singers of any level: newbies like me looking to improve and explore a new hobby, or those with a solid background with a specific goal in mind.

Sara Bielanski is a truly wonderful teacher. She is always full of energy, extremely knowledgeable and patient. I came to her a few months ago as a complete beginner. I had not sung since grade school. She helped me overcome my self-​consciousness about singing, which was no easy task. Now I’m seeing real improvement, and signing has become a real source of joy in my life. I always leave Sara’s lessons feeling great.
Lessons with Sara are enjoyable, but they are also very challenging. She is constantly working on technique, and pushes you to give it everything you’ve got.
I’ve taken guitar lessons from many teachers, and after a while, you quickly figure out who knows what they’re talking about and who doesn’t. Sara is the real deal. She’s very technically accomplished, and teaching is clearly a real passion for her. As a beginner, taking lessons from someone so advanced seems almost too good to be true — if you’re considering taking lessons with her, you should jump at the chance.

I have a M.M. in classical voice performance and have not taken many lessons since finishing grad school. I was in desperate need of a tune up (and the Messiah was not going to let me fake it) and WOW, Sara SAVED ME! I know this sounds a little cultish, but I speak the truth.
Let me tell you… this woman knows her technique. She gave me graduate level lessons and was able to pinpoint and tweak all of my issues within the first lesson. In addition to her mastery of vocal technique and pedagogy, she has a style of teaching which I love. She is high energy, smart, musical and compassionate… There is never a low moment in my lessons. She keeps things moving, and is constantly throwing out little nuggets of knowledge for the student to chew on. (If you take a lesson with her, make sure you record it so you can listen to it in between lessons.) She has a nice balance of pushing you, while also being supportive.
Sara also knows her way around vocal repertoire, and can rattle off countless suggestions if you are looking for new music to work on.
Her studio was easy to find, has pretty art, a zen vibe, and great acoustics. It sets the stage for a focused and inspired session.
Whether you are new to studying voice, or a seasoned pro, do yourself a favor and try a lesson with Sara. Your shower will thank you. :)

Working with Sara was a huge wakeup call for my technique. In our first hour together, she showed me things that immediately improved my sound and made techniques that I had been struggling with for years with other teachers look simple. I have in turn used these skills with my own students and seen consistent progress in all of them. What really sets her apart is the pure excitement and passion that flows through her when she teaches. Her love for the art is truly inspiring and I just wish I had started working with her sooner!
