Today, getting a loan requires thorough documentation and I appreciate Grant’s ability to anticipate the lender’s requirements to close our loan quickly. Grant gave us step by step instructions on what the lender needed and the reasons why. With Grant’s help, we closed right on time if not a bit early. We did not have time to waste and his pre-​planning really paid off. He also works with the escrow officer and real-​estate agents throughout this process to make sure there are no surprises and things go smoothly. There are a lot of documents needed for a loan but there is also a lot of work and coordination behind the scenes that Grant takes care of. We are certain that Grant took care of a lot issues and advocated on our behalf to ensure we got the terms we were looking for. Yes, 5 stars because Grant *is* as good as it gets! Grant helped me and my wife refinance our San Ramon home — all done by phone and online. He was super prompt, available at crazy hours if needed, and extremely informative and patient. He explained everything in great detail, blending jargon with simple terminology as needed. He worked tirelessly and made me feel like I was the most important client he had. There were no surprises and everything went smoothly.

Buying a new home is pretty stressful. For my wife and I, we were new to Northern CA and to home buying so we were doubly stressed. Grant helped set all of our worries aside and got us excited about buying our first home instead!

Grant helped me with a refi on an owner occupied home that I purchased a little over a year ago.

When I recently looked into refinancing our home we had two options; go with the last person we used or check into a passionately endorsed referral from a friend for Grant Michels with SCVF. I am very happy we went with the latter of the two. Grant Michels started our working relationship with a simple phone call to get acquainted; he asked me what our needs were, what our current situation was and what our future plans were. It was always about «us» and not about him. He didn’t want the sale if it didn’t make sense for us financially. Customer’s needs first? What a concept!
Grant educated us through every step of the way. In the beginning he sent us an email to explain the overall process and what items he needed initially and those we would need in the near future. Prior to locking in our rate, Grant provided a side to side comparison spreadsheet on our current loan versus our new one. He went over it item by item and explained in layman’s terms to make sure we understood it completely. Prior to closing we received another email. This time the comparison spreadsheet that was included showed the closing costs and where the money involved in our new loan was going. Similarly, Grant went over it item by item to make sure we knew what was involved. Very thorough!
At closing, the title company he used for our refinance was very professional and made the completion of this process painless. Great partnership!
At the conclusion of the process but before closing, Grant sent us another email. In this email he included information on what to expect next and at the time I write this it I can say it was «spot-​on!» He also thanked us for our business and for how we handled our end of this working relationship. In hindsight it really was a working relationship; because he could only go as fast as I returned calls or provided the necessary documentation. Job complete with an awesome team effort!

I have been talking to Grant for a couple of years waiting for the right time to refi and he has given nothing but sound, thoughtful advice. He never tried to talk me into something that was not the right fit. When we finally did refinance, he explained every option and the transaction happened without a hitch.
