You must go see Sal Esposito visit at Joe Escobar! I went to see Sal for an engagement ring, and had high hopes, but was also intimidated with the prospect. He VERY patiently took the time to guide me through the process, taught me what I needed to know, and helped immensley to take the pressure off and narrow down my options. When it was clear that I wasn’t seeing exactly what I wanted (rather what SHE would love) he took the time to find it for me — virtually taking what I envisioned and making it a reality! I ended up with the perfect engagement ring, so perfect that the ring far exceeded my already high expectations! My, now wife, was so happy with it and still marvels at it regularly!
There was no way we would consider going anywhere else, and returned to Sal for the wedding bands, and yup, you guessed it, HE DID IT AGAIN! Patiently guiding us, and helping us to find the absolutely perfect, matching, and complimentary band for her, and a just right band for me.

My sister and her husband got their rings here, and raved about the quality and customer service. They recommended that I come here to get an inherited ring appraised. We actually all went there yesterday, and dropped off the ring to be appraised and I had wanted to look at updated settings. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience. It’s been a full 24 hours and I still feel disappointed and annoyed at the terrible customer service I received. The man who helped us, unfortunately I don’t know his name, didn’t smile once. He seemed annoyed that we were even there. He didn’t offer us a beverage, which seems to be standard seeing as every other person in there had one. He made several rude comments, and acted like we weren’t worthwhile customers. After we decided to leave it to get appraised, he took the ring and gave us a pickup slip, he said «you’re all set» and started I walk away even though I had already told him I wanted to try on a few rings. So I said that I actually wanted to try on a ring, and he literally said either «oh gosh» or «oh no». NO JOKE. You work at a jewelry store, sir, people are going to ask to try on jewelry. He also left in the middle of helping us to help another customer, which I thought was extremely rude. If I didn’t have to pick up my ring later this week, I would never come back. This employee really had no customer service skills and completely ruined my experience. Very disappointed.

Sal Esposito is the only jeweler that I will ever go to! Not only does he have a vast amount of technical experience, being in the business for the majority of his life, he also understands the «soft side» of helping people. My fiancé and I just got engaged, and the way Sal helped us through the process of such an important purchase made the whole experience so wonderful. My husband purchased my engagement ring from Joe Escobar’s and then we returned for my wedding band. I have never met a group of nicer people. Not only is my ring everything I have ever dreamed of, I am so incredibly impressed with the staffs dedication to their craft and to customer service. They clean my ring, repolish it, and have repaired it when needed. I know I can count on them whenever I need them.

Start to finish, our experience at Joe Escobar was AMAZING! Ryan helped us pick out my engagement ring and when it was time to get our wedding bands we knew without a doubt we wanted to meet with him again. He helped us pick out a delicate band to go with my sapphire split shank ring – which complimented my ring perfectly without overpowering the thin band. And he really took his time assisting us with the purchase of a George Sawyer mokume band for my husband. The finished product turned out perfectly. Any time we have a friend that’s in need of a jeweler we always tell them about Escobar and our wonderful experience.

I had my engagement ring reset by Joe Escobar diamonds. Mary helped me pick out the setting I wanted and ordered it. She was extremely helpful, sweet, and thoughtful. I didn’t feel pressured at all and in fact when I didn’t want a wedding band, Mary told me that if I didn’t want it, I shouldn’t get it. I found her honesty and support invaluable.

Jewelry is about trust — Most certainly. Trust is fostered between people — one interchange at a time. Successful businesses rely on their staff to (in addition to performing the functions outlined in their job description) establish enduring trust with the customers they serve on behalf of the business. It is truly regrettable when an interchange takes place in which that trust is damaged.
I’ve read the experiences in some of these reviews in which obvious and regrettable interchanges have taken place and am sorry that one individual’s trust in Joe Escobar Diamonds should have been damaged so.
It made me aware that my trust in Joe Escobar’s, and my continued allegiance to them as my jeweler of choice is the result of two individuals who work for the company.
Alex is a third generation watchmaker working on site whom I trust, in preference to Rolex themselves, with the care and repair of my watches.
Sal, however, really sealed the deal with respect to securing my trust in and loyalty towards the company for which they both work. What follows is rather lengthy and somewhat personal — but I’m not sure how else to convey the extent to which Sal and Joe Escobar’s have earned my deep trust as my jeweler of choice.
My first «interchange» with Sal was in early December 2009. At the time, Sal knew none of the story I’m about to share.
My best friend and life partner of 15 years was nearing the end of his life in a Santa Clara Hospital. An avid watch collector, I would use the occasion of either his birthday or Christmas each year as opportunity to add to his collection. He had never owned a Rolex, I’d always promised to get him one. The time was now.
I walked in, identified the watch I wanted and Sal began to write it up. Then a major hurdle appeared — the specific watch wasn’t in stock, it would have to be ordered, and likely wouldn’t arrive until after christmas. Nothing to put «under the tree» or open christmas morning.
At the time, I did not share our story with Sal — he only knew it was a gift for a dear friend. However, Sal went well above and beyond any customer service «call of duty» I’ve experienced, to ensure there would be something tangible to open and hold, Christmas morning.
It was not an easy /​immediate problem to solve. Sal put a great deal of thought into it and enlisted the support of his employer to make this Christmas wish come true for us. I so very much appreciated his efforts — it made a world of difference, on the occasion of our 15^th and final Christmas morning we would spend together, to see the expression on my spouse’s face as he opened his gift.
That was only the FIRST of two Christmas Miracles that Sal and Joe Escobar’s delivered for me that year.
Knowing the first miracle was already «under the tree» — I called Sal the day before Christmas eve, with a last minute request. My partner’s Mother had just arrived the day before, in a flash of both realization and inspiration — I knew I needed a special gift for her to come from her son. I had a specific image in mind for the gift — I described it to Sal over the phone at 11:30 on Dec 23^rd and said — «is it at all possible to make this happen Sal?»
I remember Sal’s response — «I don’t know anyone who would have the nerve to call the day before Christmas Eve requesting a custom order in time for Christmas… but I love a challenge — I’ll get started on it now — can you be at the shop before the lunch rush hits at noon?»
I said I’d be there, and was. Within 20 minutes of my arrival — we’d not only finalized the details for the creation of the custom pendant I’d envisioned — but he’d selected the perfect chain on which to hang it with his first suggestion to me — I told him so. He stopped here and said… «you’d not believe how many people want to go through every chain in the box, I’ve been doing this for 25 years… thank you for trusting me!»
I do trust Sal and by extension the company he represents.
What Sal and Joe Escobar’s did for our family that Christmas will be remembered for ever. The watch, and even more importantly, the pendant — a last Christmas gift from a son to his mother — is a treasure — I helped Mom put it on that morning, and I know she has not — nor will she ever remove it in her lifetime.
Since then — I’ve asked Sal to craft an additional custom piece — which we achieved with the same ease and intuition.
As we wrapped up that transaction, Sal quipped — «I guess this makes me your personal jewelry consultant now» — to which I immediately responded… «Sal, I don’t think I even need to come in next time — I’ll just call in my request — ‘Hey Sal, something in white gold with a gem stone or two please, just let me know when I can pick it up, thanks!’»

Sal is just incredible and wonderful. I originally had an unpleasant experience many years ago and vowed to not come back to Escobars. My neighbor who has been to the jewelers several times convinced me to come back and try again. I was met with kindness and concern from Sal and he vowed to make things right. I had brought in my wedding ring to replace a missing diamond and also wanted to have two bands created and added to my ring. He was communicative, with me every step of the way and in the end, I had the most beautiful wedding set ever. Sal was incredibly kind, patient and now, made me a customer for life!

I’m giving Joe Escobar 5 stars. Sal Esposito gave me great service. I wasn’t pressured into buying something I didn’t want and was pleased and amazed how Sal explained everything to me. I’ll definitely be back.

I can’t believe that little-olé’-me is writing a review for a place with the word «Diamond» in the name. But here I am, after receiving amazing care from Sal at Joe Escobar Diamonds. I have been his customer for the last several years in different capacities and have been thrilled with the service that I have received. This is extremely impressive considering the treatment shown me has been great despite not being a high roller.
Initially, I purchased some small graduation presents for my students. Sal helped me find elegant pieces that reflected each teenager’s personality yet worked within my budget. That winter, at the store’s annual holiday party, my husband bought me a beautiful wedding band, because my first one no longer fit. Sal helped us find something lovely that looked much better on my finger and paired nicely with my engagement ring. This year, I received a gorgeous silver bracelet for my birthday.
Sal takes the time to work with our budget and find exactly what we are looking for. I’ve been over the moon about the gifts I’ve purchased and received. It’s always fun to try on other sparklers that catch my eye– rings that I can’t afford now but can dream about for the future. The sales clerks never even bat an eye when I ask to try different pieces, and I’ve never felt pressure to buy something that I didn’t like or couldn’t afford. After visiting other stores in the past, this is a rare sales tactic for jewelers. Because of this, I send everyone to Sal to get their jewelry.
On a side note, I go in every year or so get my rings cleaned and replated, since they are white gold. They come out looking phenomenal!

How many freaking jewelry store reviews can I give? Well apparently a few. So I have two places that I will always go to for any jewelry needs. Joe Escobar is one of them.
I have become my worst nightmare, a jewelry fan. I am more fan of colored gems rather than diamonds. We were passing by Campbell during one of our weekend outings when I saw Joe Escobar’s store! I remember my friend recommending them, so we decided to see what they had to offer.
I immediately was greeted by a nice lady, who was very helpful in answering all my questions. I asked her about blue sapphires, which is my favorite stone and it was fitting since we were getting married in September. She lead us to the blue sapphire area and IMMEDIATELY this one ring caught my eye. She started talking about the ring and the moment she put in on my finger, I felt like it was the most beautiful thing I have seen — next to Joe. I seriously couldn’t put it down. I have never seen a sapphire in that blue color or sparkle so damn much. It was so unique!!!
So, she led us to traditional diamond jewelry but nothing won me over like the sapphire. Well, we weren’t ready to buy because it was the first store. There was no pressure to buy, she just placed the info on the computer for reference if we decided to come back.
After a couple weeks of searching, we indeed came back. It’s still as beautiful as ever.
What’s even better is that I recently went to an Elite Unilocal Event here and now it made sense why they had the most beautiful sapphire I ever laid my eyes on, it’s because the owner Mark, who is personable and approachable, stated how he has a passion for sapphires. Also, their colored stone buyer was there as well, and you can tell he knew his stones! He mentioned how rare my ring was because of the color and cut. He stated that the cut is done only on a few selected stones. The combination of that and the setting being custom to the sapphire, it’s truly a one of a kind ring. Their passion for quality products speaks volumes.
So how good is my ring? It’s gorgeous. It’s a radiant cut in a custom setting, with each stone individually set. It shines so much.
I appreciate you guys and I am still debating about that one ring on my wish list. It will probably happen, sooner or later :-)

We did not buy our engagement ring from here — but needed some work done on it.
I live in San Francisco, but come to San Jose on the weekends for my man to visit his elderly mother. A gal from work lives in Campbell and had her engagement ring made by Joe Escobar highly recommended this place. (Side story on her was that she fell in love with and antique engagement ring — but when they had an appraiser look at it he said the diamond wasn’t very good, so they wanted the same style ring with a high quality diamond — so they came here with photos and had a ring made, it is beautiful.
Anyway — back to my story, I had some issues with my ring and the salesmen Sal really did go above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with their work. I’m sure he would rather be SELLING diamonds than fixing rings bought elsewhere — but you would never know it.
I have a few more pieces of jewelry I want adjusted before my wedding and this will be my go to place. AND they clean your ring with a check in on Unilocal (bonus!).

The service is great at Joe Escobar Diamonds. They were very friendly from the start and not pushy at all. We went to a few places looking for a ring, but most of the other places asked us to buy their store brand instead of the name brand we were looking for.
The staff was patient as we went over their selections and even helped us with a custom order. They offer us drinks and took care of us. During the holiday time they had a barista with a espresso station with snacks. That was a nice treat for us and the kids as well. The kids enjoyed some hot chocolate and cookies while I enjoyed an espresso drink.

Had the BEST experience getting my engagement ring here this past month. They were warm, educational, professional, patient, and custom made a BEAUTIFUL ring that my fiancé loves. All within my budget! I even pushed the time frame up two weeks and they came through for me just in time. I looked around at a few other jewelers and am so glad I decided on Joe Escobar.

The real deal.
I came here in late August looking to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. Like most guys on there first time out looking at rings I was working on only an idea and a prayer. The staff at Joe Escolar’s helped made that prayer a reality. The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly; it truly made it a more comfortable experience. I had a special interest in a white sapphire and the gentleman assisting me was able to give me the knowledge and understanding to look for what was real and true for my girlfriend and I. They made no pressure to purchase and were truly intrested in getting me what was best. Guys out looking for your significant others, don’t waste your time with cookie cutter jewelry stores or mall shops. Come here, even just to talk to some true experts. You won’t regret it, i sure didn’t.

My fiancé and I have had so many excellent experiences at Joe Escobar and we would recommend it to any friend who in the future needs an engagement ring or any other piece of fine jewelry. The first great thing about them is their staff and customer service. Every time I’ve gone in, whether it has been just to try on engagement rings, get my new ring cleaned, or purchase my wedding band, the sales person has been extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. We’ve worked with at least five staff members and they treat each customer with respect despite their age, appearance, etc. I was very particular about my engagement ring and my fiancé and I went in there I think three times just to try on and try more on and we were never pressured to purchase. They were very accommodating to let me play around as long as I wanted.
The second great thing about JED is their selection is amazing. I wanted a halo ring but I was picky about some of the smaller details. I was getting frustrated at other jewelry stores for not having the design that I wanted. They had a huge selection at JED and the sales person brought out exactly what I was looking for. I fell in love with that setting and it was in our price range. My center diamond looks way bigger than it actually is because of the excellent quality. So glad my fiancé didn’t listen to me and buy a diamond online. The price of loose stones is slightly higher at JED than what you can find online, but the quality, size and sparkle more than make up for that.
My ring is absolutely gorgeous, I get stopped all the time by strangers who compliment it. Joe Escobar did an amazing job building this ring for us, respected our grad student budget and made sure we have left beyond happy every time we’ve visited their store. Thank you!

Edit: We decided to go through these folks again for our wedding rings and this time we worked with Gigi. She was fantastic and helpful, even referring us to an engraver for us to have the wedding date engraved on our rings. I was even given a cleaner for our rings to keep them sparkling!
Again with the fantastic service! Our rings are the perfect size and look. I know I could probably find something similar (but not the same) for cheaper, but both the knowledge and service here make all the difference and make it worth paying a tiny but more.
