We’ve been ordering pizza from here for years. Unfortunately, we’ve had a recent string of poor service coupled with a short change of cheese. Let’s start with the service. We called from our usual phone number and name. Was conveniently place on hold for several minutes. Could over hear someone covering the phone speaker, thus delaying a response. We decided to call from another phone. Guess what, the same person answered the other line and asked if the order was for pick up or delivery. Huh? Is that the way a business is ran? Selective servicing customers? When we picked up the pizza, we were the only people there, no pizzas waiting in the hot oven. The workers have a terrible habit to looking away & not look you in the eye, often times ignoring your presence & continuing about their day. The time before that, the cashier decided not to collect the coupon for the order, very passively. When I called to address the issue with a manager, she conveniently never returned the call nor did she credit the order to the next purchase. They have repeatedly shorted our pizza of the essential item — cheese. For now on, I’ll go to the original PJ’s — Papa Joe’s for consistency in pizza and service.

We wanted to try something different because we’re getting bored with the same old places around here. So I searched around for a place that delivers to our neighborhood and found PJ’s. I couldn’t really find any actual reviews of the place(on Unilocal or otherwise) but I decided to take a chance and order from them anyway. It was ok. Not horrible, but not great. I’ve had waaaay better, as the 2-star rating indicates. The boys wanted the Bacon Double Cheeseburger pizza(bacon, mild cheddar cheese and ground beef) and I wanted to try their veggie sub. I also wanted to try their pizza, but a «cheeseburger» pizza didn’t appeal to me, so I ordered a medium ham, green pepper and onion. The crust was a little odd. I don’t know for certain, but it looked and kind of tasted previously frozen. It’s my suspicion that they’re using frozen pre-made crusts. However, that’s only a suspicion, not an accusation. That’s simply how it tasted to me. And the texture was flat and dense and way too crunchy for my taste. I love thin-crust pizzas with a crunchy, crackery crust, but this was almost too hard to bite into. I avoided the edges and ate only the inside pieces. Waste of pizza, in my opinion, as I normally love the outside crust. My veggie sub, wow, it needed LOTS of love. Flavor, for one thing. They don’t use any kind of dressing on their subs(according to the menu) which results in a lack of flavor. Especially on a veggie. You need something on a veggie sub to give it a kick. So I had to add my own Italian dressing. The vegetables were a little sad as well, as you can tell by the picture. It’s just not very attractive and the veggies were lacking in quantity. Again, I had to add more stuff to it(lettuce and onion) to brighten the poor, sad looking little thing’s day. The bun, nothing special, just your average sesame seeder. Their prices are ok in some areas and too much in others. For example, a large 1-item pizza is 12 bucks. That’s about normal. Unless you order their specialty pizzas, then it gets more expensive. Which is also normal. But some of these pizzas are definitely priced too high. A large veggie, which is considered a specialty item, is $ 17.75. That’s also how much we paid for the Cheeseburger pizza. Two pizzas(one large, one medium) and a sub, plus delivery fee($ 2.50) was 40 bucks. That’s not including the tip. They also charge 10 bucks(some $ 9.50, some $ 10.50) for a calzone. Yikes. If this were inexpensive food, it might be ok for a once-in-a while thing. But they simply charge way too much for what they’re putting out, as what they’re putting out isn’t worth the price. Doubt we’ll order from them again.
