Hall Lane moved me from NYC into storage, and then 5 months later from storage to Philadelphia.
For both moves and for the storage, their estimates were prompt, easy to understand, and accurate relative to the final cost. The moving guys were friendly and careful, and they got the job done quickly without being rushed. They kept good track of all of our things, and brought them all back. Storage was uneventful, which is all you can ask.
We packed most things ourselves and no doubt saved money doing so. It might have been possible to save additional money by using a different mover, but the lower priced over-​the-​phone bidders made me uncomfortable. Among the go-​to-​your-​apartment bidders, H-L’s price was middle of the pack.

The consultation appointment was on time, efficient and clear.
Unreasonably, we were asked to sign an agreement referencing other documents that we had not been shown.
The packing and loading went two hours later than promised. The workers were friendly and seemed to do a conscientious job.
At the end of the packing and loading, we were asked to sign a bill of lading stating that it listed all items tendered. At that point, all those boxes were inaccessible, stacked in a truck, and they had not been shown to me in seriatim during packing. Accordingly, this request was unreasonable.
The bill of lading I was asked to sign upon loading also contains the following language next to the customer signature line: «IMPORTANT NOTICE: Before signing — check equipment, count items, and describe loss or damage…» Oddly and suspiciously, Hall-​Lane told me to ignore that language and sign in spite of it, since it applied only to signatures collected upon *unloading*, even though the plain written language contained no such limitation.
We did not receive an update on the ETA as early as we had been told we would.
They were flexible about shipping without have a precise destination address.
12 days after loading, the online shipment tracking still says the location is «Currently not available. Please contact customer support.» Hall Lane keeps telling me the driver will be calling, but he hasn’t. I feel like I’m waiting for a sign from above and it’s just not coming.

I was directed to Hall-​Lane when I requested an estimate through North American. I set up an appointment for Tuesday at 10am for Hall-​Lane to come by my apartment and provide an estimate for my move. At 9am on Tuesday, I was checking my voicemails from the weekend (I had been out of town visiting family), and saw that I had two voicemails from Hall-​Lane asking if they could come on Monday to do the estimate instead. Well, since I was out of town until Monday night and didn’t get the voicemail until Tuesday, I assumed they would still be coming to do the estimate at the originally scheduled time. Well, just to be sure, I called Hall-​Lane to confirm that they would indeed be coming in an hour, and found that they had cancelled my appointment without informing me. Because I wasn’t available on Monday when their estimator was in Manhattan, they just cancelled the appointment because it wasn’t convenient. If I hadn’t called, I would’ve been sitting around just waiting for them. They offered to reschedule, but needless to say if someone isn’t going to honor appointments that aren’t convenient, I’m not going to let you move all of my stuff across the country.

Our moving company in NC arranged for Hall Lane to be our packers and movers on this end. Our move was made miserable by a supervisor named Dan. In addition to not caring about the damage done to the hallways of the building we were leaving he left the truck open, loaded and unattended on a NYC street. He cared not one bit. Was only in a rush to get back to Long Island. I immediately called his boss. As a result, when our belongings arrived there was clearly malicious damage. A slashed chair, and some deliberately broken tables. We filed a claim and received payment for the damage. All so unbelievable. Every other employee did a fine job. But their supervisor Dan, and their choice to make him a supervisor and keep him in their company indicates something is very wrong here. Find another mover.

I found Hall-​Lane to be extremely professional, courteous and willing to go the extra mile to please. I had to pack and move to storage many things from my home. Everything was packed with great care and moved into Hall-Lane’s climate controlled storage facility. The price was very reasonable, and the storage fees are even more reasonable, roughly 1⁄3 the cost of those self-​storage places. These are very warm and honest people and I feel very secure that my possessions are in the best of hands. I would never use anyone else for my moving and storage needs.

Moving is quite possibly one of the most unappealing things to have to deal with. Two days ago my opinion was completely changed. We had the honor and pleasure of working with Jeff, Moses and Paul. Not only were they beyond professional and respectful, they were quick and very careful with all of our things. For dealing with something as stressful and unpleasant as moving being able to laugh with these guys was amazing! I want to have a bbq just for them, it was like being with family. These guys are beyond amazing and we were so lucky to have met them all. I highly recommend them over and over again! They are reasonably priced and showed up on time. They were so pleasant and fun to be around, each of them had a huge smile and were so happy it was wonderful! If you’re moving, use these guys! I would move again just to see them.

My experience with Hall-​Lane Moving and Storage was mixed — at best. They do not handle your possessions with care. They get particularly testy if you ask them to take care, add a little more wrapping etc. Moving day is hectic enough — their attitude makes the day just that much worse.
Likely, they’re a decent bet if you’re moving nothing breakable and nothing of personal or real value. Definitely, do NOT trust them to wrap anything fragile or breakable.
Their carelessness/arrogance/don’t care attitude resulted in damage and costly repair to several items. For example, a valuable ottoman was stained when wrapped in a filthy and apparently coffee stained pad. When I discovered this damage upon their arrival the supervisor turned the air blue with his cursing at one of the movers who he believed encouraged me to discover the damage. Believe me, I could give more examples … #nightmare.
If you report damage, you descend into their bureaucratic nightmare of paperwork. I doubt anyone ever gets fair compensation.

The move with Hall Lane was amazing. From the first time we met with Alex to when the driver and crew left we had a great experience. It happened to be raining the day of the move and I was nervous about the mud being tracked in and out of the house. Before I even expressed my concern, I noticed them putting plastic down as to avoid the mess. I was so impressed and appreciative. I have already recommended them to a friend that is moving.

Great moving company. They moved us out of our home and into storage — quickly and efficiently. The crew was extremely professional and courteous. Everything was cataloged and packed carefully and properly. I even received a refund after the move b/​c the time spent came in under the original estimate. Don’t use Hall Lane. I’ve had 4 major moves in the past 5 years (3 were cross-​country) and Hall Lane is the only company who lost and destroyed my stuff. Yes, they lost *and* destroyed stuff. I asked them in particular to be really careful about an heirloom dining table. When it emerged on the other side of the country, it was missing a chunk from it’s solid walnut leg and had scrapes all over the surface. Another box went entirely missing.
Beyond these issues, the problem with Hall Lane is that, as soon as something goes wrong, they just dump you into the North American corporate bureaucracy to file a claim. They don’t handle it directly and you have to rely on North American’s website.
I know they do a good job selling you on the care and customer service, but don’t buy it — it’s just sales tactics. Once they have your payment, all bets are off.
There are lots of moving companies out there and I know they all have some negative Unilocal reviews, but these guys really are bad. Stay away.

I’m sorry to say, I had a bad experience with Hall Lane Moving. After packing half my belongings, they tried to charge me double the packing expense when my estimate was supposed to be guaranteed! When I opened my boxes, i realized that some of them were mostly paper fill. No wonder they used so many boxes.
Also, my boxes were not adequately marked. They forgot to mark a box that had all my sheets, comforter, pillows, etc. as well as a table. And, neither were on the inventory sheet, so I didn’t know they were missing until I unpacked everything. Both were left on the truck. Luckily, the mover on the other end of North American (not Hall Lane) drove back to my apartment to drop them off a couple weeks later.
Lastly, some of my tables were scratched and a lot of water goblets broken, because they were not wrapped properly. The packers actually put the water goblets on the bottom of a large box full of pots and pans. Not smart! Sadly, I would not recommend Hall Lane Movers.

From the salesman that came to my home, the office team & the men who did the actual move from my NY home to Florida were all wonderful, professional & extremely helpful. I moved from Queens to Manhattan on Dec 2012 (3 months ago) and am still waiting for Hall Lane to refund me for overcharging. I worked with Alex Daflos who assured me that I would hear back from the head of the company, but have yet to hear anyone. I have reached out to him about 15 times over the last few months via e-​mail and phone and have yet to get the refund that is owed to me. I was charged for things that were not quoted to me. I am extremely thorough and discussed the entire process and expected cost up front, but additional charges were added to my bill. On the moving day, I was told that I should pay and deal with the company for a refund. 3 months later I am still waiting! Please have owner of the company get back to me as soon as possible. I am not sure what else to do at this point. I am extremely frustrated!!!

Best moving company i used. They helped me move my two bedroom apartment with zero problems. They secured all my items, packed them carefully, brought them to my new apartment brought everything in, unpacked and reassembled all my furniture. They did a great job for a fair price.

We used Hall-​Lane after comparing with other movers. We moved from New York to Fort Mill South Carolina. They are nice people to deal with. Mover took their time and packed really nice and nothing broken after delivery. I was really impressed how they packed glass furniture. People that were involved delivering to South Carolina were real nice and I paid them good tips. Just one problem I need to report, The New York packers have taken couple of expensive whiskey bottles and several laundry detergents. They aren’t honest in my book.

One of the most professional moving companys I have ever dealt with. I have moved 4 times now and heard about Hall-​Lane from a friend and decided to give them a try. The customer service was very good and the acutal movers themselves were courteous. The price was also very fair for what they had to do (4 flight walk up!).
