Avoid Evenflow.
I cannot review the work as they repeatedly failed to show up. I made an appointment several days in advance for a Friday morning 9 – 11 window. No one showed up or called but after I made several calls Gary finally called me at 1:30 pm. I had taken the day off of work to be at home for Evenflow. Now, as my day was shot, Gary suggested and I agreed to make a new appointment for Saturday at 10. I re-​arranged my Saturday and of course, felt like the fool when no one showed up at 10. All phone calls to Evenflow turned over right to voicemail.
I had gotten the recommendation for Evenflow from my next door neighbor with whom I trust in these matters. However, when I looked over the Unilocal reviews while I was waiting for someone to show up, it looks like they do good work but have a habit of showing up late or not showing up at all.
So now I am way in the hole as I took the day off of work on Friday and then ruined my Saturday.

I used another company to get my water heater replaced just a few months back and it’s already got a damn leak. Just my luck I guess.
Gary and his team were recommended to me through one of my coworkers who had used them for numerous jobs when he was in the housing rental business. All I can say is thank God they found the problem was with one of the valves and not a leak from the storage tank. I was told I would have to replace the entire tank again if that was the case! It ended up costing me a little over $ 100 for the repair which is about right for our area.
Overall I like them because they have a great response time, no BS on the pricing or repairs, and they provide a lot of different services for pretty much any plumbing problem you might have. Thumbs up from me!

Called for a sewer line replacement and was told that they were unable to perform work in Concord because of new permit requirements. Secretary sounded very unsure of herself /​the situation. Seems odd that a company located in Concord would be unable to do work in Concord…

We had a trenchless sewer line replacement and found Gary and his crew professional, competent, and courteous. The price was competitive and the work was done in one day.

Started New Year off with sewer problems.
Being in construction I was aware of trench less sewer repairs or (pipe bursting). called four companies. One
Still has not called back. 2 only do portions of the work and sub out the pipe replacement. Evenflow answered all my questions. From the start to finish, very professional. Work completed and inspected in one day. One crew in the street, a second crew at the house, and third crew prepping the new pipe. Efficiency at it’s FINEST. Price never changed, no down payment, shake of a hand. Old school, the way I like it. Did I mention they were the LOWEST PRICE?!

My mid-​century house has a beautiful mid-​century oak tree in the front yard. Enough said. To say the sewer lateral was in bad shape would be an understatement. I solicited four quotes from varying «trenchless specialists». Gary was the frontrunner, not only for his reasonable price and professionalism, but also for his personality and rapport.
His crew arrived around 8:30am and worked diligently througout the day. They answered all my random questions and didn’t mind me hovering with my camera. All was going great until they discovered an abandoned utility pipe directly in line with where the HDPE needed to go. They excavated back and resolved the situation — and kept me informed the entire time.
After a long day they were complete and my front yard looks exactly as it did before we started. They even replanted my rose bushes!

As a busy real estate agent in the East Bay I have used used Gary and his team for many jobs both big and small. They are always able to fit me into the schedule on short notice and I have never once had an issue getting a done right the first time.
They have the lowest prices for the Sewer Lateral repairs in the East Bay and have great follow through with the city or EBMUD the ensure we have all documentation needed to close on our sale.
I give Gary and the crew the highest marks possible and they are my first call for any plumbing needs.

I needed my sewer replaced because I had been having problems with sewage surfacing in my yard for the past few years. It got so bad that all the drains in the house got backed up. I called a plumber to clear the line but he said he couldn’t do it. He said that the sewer pipe needed to be replaced completely and then quoted me $ 9900. I was shocked but I knew I had to get the sewer fixed. I decided to get 2 more estimates. One of the companies I called was Evenflow Plumbing. Gary came out to my house and did an inspection on the sewer line with a video camera. He was able to determine that the problem with the sewer line was limited to an area where I have a large tree. Gary gave me a quote for just the work I needed, which I appreciated. The bottom line is Evenflow got my sewer fixed and everything working great for a fraction of the original quote. I couldn’t be more satisfied.

My conclusion first, briefly. Maybe they need to not hire Tri Valley out as a contractor. And next time I will just watch a Youtube video and do it myself like I usually do.
I don’t know where to start. We called them and told them the exact problem. The valve to our refrigerator water line was busted, so it was leaking, and we had to turn it off. So, there was no fridge water. A minor problem, right? So, someone is supposed to come out the next day at 9am I guess for an estimate. I get a call at 9am and apparently there was a family emergency, so they rescheduled for 4 days later. Ok. I get another call right before the appointment. Another emergency apparently. I am getting suspicious. So, they say a guy is already on his way, someone they contract with when they have emergencies. (How many emergencies do they have in the middle of the day?) I say fine, because I just want this to be over and I have things to do. So the guy from Tri Valley comes out (I guess from Pleasanton? Don’t they have anyone closer? I live in Concord). First, he chips my BRAND NEW hardwood floor. Then he clatters his tools on the floor without placing anything down. I am watching my screaming 15 month old, but I ask him to stop f ing up my floors. So, he tells me what I already know, the valve is busted. He says it is a simple and quick fix, he could do it then. I say fine because I do not want to have to go thru this process again. He leaves to get the part. He calls and says they don’t have it, so he will be longer, because shocker, he does not know the stores well in this area. He comes back with the part. 20 minutes later, all is repaired and the water is coming out of the fridge better than ever.
THEN, he wants to charge me $ 500 for a «simple fix» and $ 10 worth of parts that took 20 minutes. I say no. He then launches into an explanation of why it is this much.
Him: I had to go to three stores.
Me: You are charging me for the time it took you to find a part? You could have called the store to see if it was there if you didn’t know. Your lack of knowledge is not my problem.
Him: No, I charge a flat rate, I am not charging you for that time.
Me: Well, why did you bring it up in an explanation of the costs?
Him: (silence).
Him: Well, I charge $ 79 for the inspections usually.
Me: They said it was a free estimate on the phone.
Him: Oh, no, everyone charges for the estimate.
Me: Then why did they say it was free on the phone and why would you have not said anything about charges upfront?
Him: (Silence).
Him: Well it is a flat fee for fixing this type of problem and for going into the crawlspace.
Me: Oh, so then why would they schedule someone to come out here to give me an estimate when everything is a flat fee and we told them EXACTLY what was wrong on the phone? Would they not have just quoted me something then?
Him (Silence).
Him: Ok, I can give you a discount.
I guess logic is not part of the training, nor is honesty or being able to keep a story straight. There have got to be decent plumbers out there… right?

Gary knows his business, is a straight shooter, and charges fair prices. We like him and we trust him.
We had a problem with our sewer shortly after buying our home in the spring of 2009. Turned out extensive work was required. We spoke with several plumbers and decided to hire Gary. Gary explained very clearly and thoroughly what work was required, how long it would take, and what it would cost. When the day came to do the work, his crew showed up when he said they’d show up. They were diligent and professional. Even hough Gary was committed to another job that day, he took the time to stop by, check with his people to see how things were going, and talk to us to make sure all was good, too.
We were so happy with the work that we’ve recommended Evenflow Plumbing to our friends and family.
Almost four years later, at 6am on a Sunday morning, we had a plumbing emergency and called on Gary again. The floor in our laundry room was soaked and the walls and ceiling were dripping water and we had no idea what to do. The first thing Gary did was explain to me exactly what I should do to keep the problem from getting worse. A short time later he came out to our house and quickly identified and fixed the problem. Turns out a pipe on our hot water heater had sprung a leak. Not only did Gary fix this problem, he let me know what followup actions were necessary, and showed me some things to help me identify potential problems in the future.

Gary and Evenflow Plumbing did an excellent job replacing the sewer lateral for a house we just purchased. It was a big job, and the crew did it all in one day, all while keeping the neighbors informed and leaving the area clean. Gary was also very fair in charging us less than the original proposal, since the original proposal included work that wasn’t needed. Highly recommended.
