Karl is so nice to work with. He knows how to encourage us pose more naturally and put a lots of passion in every picture. We are so glad to work with him and love his pictures so much. There is no doubt in my mind that we made the best choice when we booked Karl as our wedding photographer. Karl was the first, and the ONLY photographer we met with. He made me feel so comfortable before even our first meeting with him. It was just as important to Karl as it was to us that we had a great relationship with our photographer in order to get the best outcome for our pictures, even if that photographer ended up being someone other than him. I loved that about him right away! His pricing is very reasonable for what you are getting, but he still makes a point to assure that each couple’s unique wants and needs are met. And if all of that isn’t enough, his work is amazing!!! Our engagement photos turned out beautifully, and I know our wedding photos will be the same! So please, do yourself a favor and contact Karl FIRST in your search for a wedding photographer! I guarantee he will set the standard for all of the vendors you meet with! Karl did an amazing job photographing my daughter’s wedding. He was able to capture so many precious memories of my daughter and her husband on their special day. Their wedding day even became chaotic with rain (for an outside wedding and reception) but he and his second shooter Michelle (who was just as sensational, by the way) were able to come up with last minute locations for their first-​look photos which turned out gorgeous! I can’t say enough great things about Karl and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer.

Where to start?! Karl is AMAZING! My husband and I were struggling to find a photographer to fit our budget who still took amazing photos. I found Karl on either Wedding Wire or The Knot and instantly loved his work. After getting in touch with him, he was more than accommodating to our schedules to try and meet up. We lived in Riverside, and he agreed to meet us halfway, even in the rain! We got married at the Five Crowns on 08/​23/​2015. He had been wanting to shoot at this wedding venue for some time, so he customized our package so that it was a win-​win for both of us. It is very obvious that Karl LOVES his job! After shooting our engagement photos, he finished them ahead of schedule because he was so excited to finish them, and of course they turned out beautifully. He made us feel relaxed and comfortable while taking photos; I’m pretty sure my husband and I were laughing the entire time! I had no trouble getting in touch with him, and he was always quick to respond, which is one of my biggest pet peeves. On the day of the wedding, both Karl and his assistant were wonderful. I barely knew they were there when we weren’t taking posed shots! I even had a special request. I surprised my husband with our getaway car, but it wasn’t supposed to arrive until after Karl’s booking time was up. Of course, he had no problem whatsoever staying a little later to take some shots of us with the car. The preview gallery of our wedding photos was amazing, and I am so anxious to see the rest of them! Thank you Karl! David and I will be sure to recommend you in the future.

Karl Verkade is nothing less than amazing. Tip: Karl is wonderful if you haven’t chosen a photographer than I would highly suggest Karl. I met with at least 5 people before choosing Karl. His photos were amazing and he was so kind when it came to our wants and needs.
Fast forward to engagement photos a year later… Karl remembered all of my little favorite poses. We laughed and had so much fun! He was so great and made us feel so comfortable.
I’m not the easiest person but with Karl, it is super simple and really knows what he is doing so I didn’t feel like I had to take control.

AMAZING TALENT! Karl Verkade Photography was so professional and friendly to work with. He photographed my entire wedding in Los Angeles on Sat. June 27^th, 2015. From the day we met to discuss his services to the after wedding questions, he was always very responsive and professional. During our meet up he showed me the samples he had done in the past and outlined exactly what I would get with my budgeted friendly amount. During my special day, he put me at ease with his professionalism and friendliness and all my guests loved him. He worked well under time constraints and was simply amazing. The wedding photographs are absolutely stunning. I have already referred him to 3 friends that have gotten recently engaged. Best of luck, but if you want someone that will provide quality work with a great service, Karl is for you. My husband and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

Karl is beyond amazing, his talent is out of this world. I found Karl on the Knot and fell in love with his work instantly. You can tell quickly being a photographer isnt just his job but it is his biggest passion. He is great when it comes to customer service as well. He always got right back to us during the booking process and leading up to the big day as well. He was very open to anything we wanted. He was prompt on showing up on the big day and took every picture we asked for. He made us feel so comfortable which allowed us to really enjoy our big day :) I would refer him to everybody I know in a second. Karl is the best of the best!!!

Karl is the real deal. Talented, artistic, creative– he’s a master of his art. He photographed our wedding and was not only thorough and great to work with, he brought a calm, warm energy to the table that we desperately needed in the midst of all the chaos. Would leave ten stars if I could!

I found Karl on craigslist and he had some great deals compared to the other photographers I was looking at. My wife and I met with him and absolutely loved him! Very courteous, professional, and his photo samples looked great. We got engagement and wedding photos done and could not be happier with the results. I have a few friends getting married soon and I will definitely be recommending Karl to them.

My Husband and I were stressing to find a photographer in our price range it was so hard to find someone that was going to do a great job for the price! I ran across him on theKnot and emailed him as soon as I saw the prices! we met up with him and my husband and I loved his pictures he showed us and we couldn’t beat the price! he did such an amazing job at our wedding we got our photos and they turned out amazing! we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer! he was awesome! I feel like we dragged him all over southern OC and had some fun family drama he was great throughout the whole thing!

Karl is awesome to work with. He was very timely with communication, his photos are beautiful, and it is really apparent that he loves what he does. Our wedding was very small but he really took advantage of everything our venue had to offer and got some really great shots. I am beyond happy with our photos and I’d definitely recommend him.

Phenomenal photographer. Karl really exceeded our expectations & we are just thrilled at how our engagement/​wedding photos turned out. Even our special requests were fulfilled — he did some amazing work with our dog included in our photos. It really helps to have a photographer who really loves what they do. We almost opted out of having a photographer because all the good ones were way out of our budget but Karl made it happen & we are so grateful to have found him! We can’t thank him enough.

Absolutely fantastic. Got a package deal with free engagement session with our wedding photography. Came to San Diego three different times (initial consult, engagement sesh, and wedding), although we offered to drive up one of the time (he wanted to check out the venue for photo ops). Great to work with and definitely went out of his way to make our photos amazing. Absolutely beautiful engagement pictures. All of our family and friends commented on how wonderful they were (we made our wedding guest book out of them). During our wedding you wouldn’t have known he was there unless you looked, he never got in the way of our moments, but you could tell he was capturing them. Got all the family and bridal party shots we wanted and more and was QUICK! Great personality, funny and very easy to work with! Even quietly pulled us out of the venue for a few shots at sunset (I definitely was too immersed in the night to remember to watch for the sunset). Worked all day with us, and still looked like he wanted to take a million more pictures at the end of the night. LOVED working with him and absolutely amazing photographer within our budget!
