The Toy Shop services only Toyota, Lexus and Scion Autos. We provide a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty on every job. In contrast to most dealers, we don’t just treat you like a number or a service ticket, you are treated with the respect you deserve as a customer. History

Established in 1987.

The Toy Shop of Cypress is one of three independent Toyota, Lexus and Scion repair shop’s. The Toy Shop was started by Robert Singer and Alan Tomota. Both had ten years experience as master technicians at Toyota dealerships. They both went out on their own in 1987 at the first location in Torrance, CA. Followed up two years later by a location in Huntington Beach, CA 1989. Then in 1991 this third location was established in Cypress, CA.

Check engine light was on and had failed a smog test with two error codes on a 2007 Prius. So, I took it to Robert at The Toy Shop. In less than an hour Robert informed me that it was a Coolant Control Valve that needed to be replaced. He made a phone call and found that the item should be covered under warranty by Toyota up to 15 years or 150k miles. Robert recommended that I take it to Toyota to have the warranty work completed. He also did not charge me for the diagnosis. Talk about great customer service! I took it to Toyota and the work is done.
For any work that I need done in the future not covered by a warranty I will be going to see Robert at The Toy Store!

The Toy Shop gets my highest praise and recommendation. Their service is fast and efficient, they are honest, their prices are amazingly reasonable. I talked with three different employees and all were friendly and totally professional. They are THE BEST! My wonderful 1998 Toyota Corolla runs as good as new thanks to them. Have no hesitation about taking your car in for repair to this place. I don’t work for them, have no connection with them except for being one very happy customer.

The Toy Shop rocks. After reading all the reviews I decided to take 1 of my 4 Toyotas there for a tune up. He gave everything a once over and explained simply what needed to be done and how much it would be. No upsell, no bullsh*t like at the dealership where they try to sell you every service under the sun because they have QUOTAS. Believe it people, they will deny it but their pay and their jobs are on the line everyday so it’s in their best interest to tell you to replace everything. The Toy Shop isn’t the cheapest, but I assure you they do NOT cut corners. They are just an independent garage serving one customer at a time. So now if they recommend something, I do it.

If you have a Toyota brand automobile look no further!!! I have been going to Robert since 2002 when I got my first Camry and could not be happier with his work. Robert has to be the most honest and reasonably price mechanic in all of America!!! My whole family is scared to buy anything other than a Toyota because we don’t want to have to find a new mechanic. I called around to several repair shops to get a rough estimate on a repair for an older model Lexus. I even called the Cerritos Lexus service center. None of the places I called checked the Lexus Service Bulletin to see if there were other people with the same issue I was having EXCEPT for Jered! He called me right back after he checked the bulletin and said that it could be a problem a lot of people were having with my model but I would need to bring it in so he can check. I asked if he would charge for diagnostic fees but said no as long as he doesn’t have to take anything apart. Which seemed very reasonable unlike another repair shop who quoted $ 200 for diagnostic of the issue. I plan to take my car in next Friday but after just talking with Jered a few minutes on the phone I feel I can completely trust this place to know what they are doing and will give me a fair price on whatever repairs I may need. I will update once I’ve had my car serviced. But I have a good feeling I will rate them 5 stars again!

I bought a used Prius and within days the warning light came on so I brought it in to be checked. The Toy Shop examined it, told me that there had been extensive front end damage and that it wasn’t fixed properly. I asked him what I should do and he recommended that I get rid of it. Within minutes, I called the company that sold the car to me and insisted that they take the car back because they were negligent in informing me about the car not being fixed to code (parts weren’t welded back right). Thankfully, I was able to return it.
The Toy Shop saved the head ache of being stuck with a lemon. They also didn’t charge me a dime to diagnose the problem. Amazing!!! These guys are honest and they know what they are doing.

They are AWESOME! I just moved to this area from Arizona and would like to check my old 1999 Toyota after a long road trip. They spent 30 mins to check the car carefully and inflated the tires, for FREE! I used to pay 20+ bucks for the check-​up when I was in AZ. Extremely friendly and helpful! Will definitely come back for my car maintenance.

I have been going to The Toy Shop since 1990. They have always been professional, use genuine Toyota parts, and very easy to talk with. Robert, the owner, is a master mechanic and knows Toyota, Lexus, and Scion like the back of his hand. Shop is always clean and they always over deliver, with great competitive prices. No dealer will beat them. I would highly recommend them! I am very anal about my cars, and I trust Robert 300%! No shortcuts over at this shop, trustworthy in every way possible!

If you need work done on your Toyota, and want honest work The Toy Shop is the place to go. Robert is the Honest Abe of mechanics! I went to Action Auto down the street in Cypress, and was told that I needed my timing belt changed for $ 1200. I called the Toy Shop for a second bid, and they informed me that my vehicle does not have a timing belt to replace. So today the Toy Shop is doing my 120K service to give my girl some TLC. I’ve also had my brakes worked on, and Robert made special efforts to save me money.

Robert is an angel. I was in from out of town and found myself stranded nearby with a car that would not start. He brought his battery pack over and not only started it, but had me come to his shop where he could recharge the battery. He also checked my car out before I took off on a cross country journey. He refused any payment. For this, I nominate Robert as «best mechanic ever» and «local business of the year»!!!

I am restoring a ’77 Celica and after seeing the reviews I decided to take my car here.
Jared usually answers the phone and was always courteous. He patiently answered my questions over the phone and told me to speak to Robert for more in depth stuff. Robert started working for a Toyota dealership since at least 1977 and really knew what he was talking about.
Robert only works using OEM parts (that’s a really good thing) but unfortunately since parts for my car were unavailable, he wasn’t able to replace my carburetor. He had my car in the shop for a few weeks and for all that work, tuning and diagnosing he didn’t charge me a penny! He was true to his word over the phone that if he couldn’t fix it, he wouldn’t charge!
Even if I couldn’t get him to fix my car, I’m satisfied that he did all he could for me and that meant alot.

I brought my 08 Black scion TC in to have a brake and idle issue checked out. Robert immediately pulled my car into the bay and he and his mechanic began to diagnose the idle issue, he cleared my cars computer of previous codes to see if they will return, pulled off my intake and even poured some fuel injector cleaner in my system for me! He didn’t charge me a dime.
He also quoted me a very reasonable price to replace my master brake cylinder.
I was very impressed with his honesty, friendless and how he got to helping me right away. He and his mechanic he had working are very friendly and break it down so the customer understands what’s going on. Nice clean shop and also noticed he is a certified master mechanic! He will definitely be receiving my business on all future repairs!

Robert does it again. He’s an awesome guy. I went in again for service on my 2011 Prius in September 2014. I called a few days before to schedule my appointment. They had to order the parts for my service. During my visit I had forgotten to order windshield wipers. They ordered the wipers, but they were sent to the wrong shop. Robert let me take my car home and come back later in the day once they had arrived. I was able to take my car home with the option of paying when my wipers came in. Most shops wouldn’t service my car and let me drive off with the promise to pay later. Well Robert did. That makes him and The Toy Shop a quality business above all the rest. Thanks again! I’ll be back!

Customers only want one thing when it comes to mechanics and that is honesty. This is the right place, although they don’t specialize in honda I brought mine over for a quick inspection, glad I did come here they fixed the issue within 10 minutes and didn’t charge me amything!
The place right across the street wanted to charge me 1 hour labor only to diagnose the issue stating it was a blown circuit, another stating it was the BLS when it clearly wasn’t. All in all, if you want an honest shop come here, it’s your best bet.

My Prius was dying, no acceleration. After searching for dealerships and other shops near me, I found The Toy Shop with the best reviews.
And they live up to their reputation! Robert was very clear in communicating with me, set the expectations of what the problem may or may not be. It turns out my car needed a new battery — the big one for the Prius.
Robert provided me a detailed breakdown of cost and comparables, and even provided options like warranty from the dealership. I had a very busy week at work and could not pick up my car right away and Robert told me to take my time, decide, and pick up my car when I’m ready.
Just exceptional service and honesty from Robert and his shop. I would definitely recommend The Toy Shop for any of your Toyota/​Lexus/​Scion service needs.

The Toy Shop is a rare gem. I’ve been to this shop in the past with my previous vehicle and I never felt like I was getting ripped off or take advantage of in anyway.
After going to the dealer for service I was disappointed with them and their recommendations which would have cost me a fortune. I’m glad I’m not that gullible.
Luckily for me Unilocal had a free 30 point inspection so I took advantage of that and I made an appointment. I figured it was the 21st-​century so I made an appointment online instead of phoning. I showed up around 12:00 because that’s the time I scheduled my appointment.
When I got there I spoke with Robert and it looked like all the spots were full and no room for my vehicle. At this point I had my doubts that my vehicle was going to get looked at but Robert quickly apologized and managed to get one of the vehicles down and out to accommodate my my appointment that I made and I was impressed. Robert test drove the car on top of a free 30 point inspection and found only minor recommendations .
I will definitely come back here again for service.
