Excellent service and great tasting food. One of the best in Dallas. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the owner is an Irish fan.

Decades old, Gold Rush is a family-run diner with a loyal clientele in a Lakewood strip mall. They have all the breakfast and lunch basics that you’d expect at a family restaurant, plus an assortment of Tex-Mex items, like migas, huevos rancheros, and breakfast tostadas. Mecca proved no match for this Live Oak mainstay, and I doubt the trendier Buzzbrews, which has nothing close to a $ 4.95 breakfast special, will pose any more of a threat.

Great greasy spoon diner. First time there today and left satisfied. Don’t judge by the outside either, this place was jammed. A great go-to for a quick, cheap bite to eat. I’m a fan!

TINY! Extremely limited seating, so expect a wait. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Your wallet will thank you. Unfortunately, my pancakes were a bit underdone and I didn’t care for the consistency of batter very well. My GF’s hash browns were also underdone, and she actually got a little sick from it. Everything else was pretty good. The coffee isn’t as good as I expected after reading other people’s reviews. Mamma Daughter’s has great coffee, and so does Tipico’s. Like REALLY good coffee at those two places. I’ll assume the underdone food is not typical. Maybe a new cook or something, so not really taking off points for that FYI. I just don’t see this as 4 stars IMO.

One of my family’s favorite spots on Dallas! We love the family atmosphere of a small diner.

After finding a long line at the Garden Café, I came here to find another line up for very few tables. This review is not based on the food because we just went to Benny’s Bagels a few stores down. I’m posting this as a «heads up» to out-of-towners.

This is hands down one of the best diners I have ever been too. Usually, there is a small line at the door, but it doesn’t take long for someone to leave and free up a table. The atmosphere is very relaxed with all types of people. Also, there’s always soccer on the TV. Now for the food. For one, the coffee is great. For two, I have yet to have something I didn’t love. Their menu isn’t fancy and if you’re looking for healthy options, go somewhere else, but somehow they take ordinary things like pancakes and eggs and make them perfect and so filling. My favorite is the Migas with chorizo. Try it out and you won’t regret it!

My all-time favorite breakfast place. I always get the chicken fried steak and eggs plus my husband and I split the chicken and waffles. Sounds like a lot and it is. But then you don’t have to eat again all day. Seriously, this is the best breakfast in town.

The Gold Rush is a solid diner-type place in a strip mall off of Skillman. You could miss it if you didn’t know what you’re looking for. Upon heading into the restaurant, it can be somewhat confusing. What you want to do is have a seat(don’t head right to the counter) and check out their round menus(which resemble records. At least, I think that’s what they’re going for.) The food is pretty good, and this(along with the fact that«The Gold Rush» is a pretty well known«name» for diners in Dallas) results in a lot of regulars hitting the Gold Rush on a regular basis. Back in 2010, the Gold Rush was on a D magazine list for one of the best 20 breakfasts in Dallas.(That sounds about right, but I’d probably put the Gold Rush in the second set of 10 on that list.) I believe I’ve only ever had Breakfast here(though never FOR breakfast. I mean, «Breakfast for Lunch» or «Breakfast for Dinner» usually.) In any case, the omelettes are pretty good and the pancakes are really good. From what I’ve had, I’d probably encourage you to get the Pancakes.(They’ll even hook you up with a pancake or two as a side dish, subbing it in for hash browns or whatever else your meal comes with. I don’t know if there’s an up-charge for this or not. Also, I’ve seen folks get the club, and admittedly, it looks quite good.(And it’s a pretty hefty portion as well.) Overall, the Gold Rush is a good, solid breakfast place with reasonable prices and good to great food. It is definitely a «locals» place – if you are looking for the locals experience or a new place to be a regular, then the Gold Rush is definitely for you.

I really like the Goldrush Café. My favorite entrée is the John Wayne. So delish. The veggie burgers is good too. And tots! My two complaints are that the coffee is terrible. And they could use a revamp. Otherwise its a solid breakfast spot.

Meh. I don’t get the hype. I mean, it’s a nice little neighborhood spot but I swear my eggs were from powder which is not OK for a breakfast diner. There is no where to wait when you have to and the food is nothing you should wait for. I don’t love writing unkind reviews but I am nervous for this place now that buzzbrews opened across the street. My favorite part of the meal was the group of older men in the back corner who obviously come there every weekend to hang out.

This can be a busy place so don’t be impatient while you wait for others to finish their breakfast. This is a family operation and they take good care of you. Enjoy a cup of coffee and order the ham steak when it’s available.

I love this place so much. The menu is just diverse enough that I love taking visitors from out of town here so they can get something like enchiladas and eggs while I nom the chicken fried steak and eggs, my favorite hangover cure. This place obviously gets busy and people tend to linger, but I have never had trouble getting a table within a few minutes of walking in. Coming from a city that loves Notre Dame, the décor in this place takes me home!

First time here. Love all the options. Who doesn’t like breakfast anytime! The bagel shop down the way ran out of bagels so we stopped in here. Simple classic interior. Good tables and chairs. Nice local memorabilia on the walls. Sat where we wanted. Provided menus with breakfast on one side lunch and dinner on the other. So many options but I love tostadas. I asked for the eggs to be scrambled. Now, I am not the best egg scrambler but these were over cooked. The shell was thick and fried and able to handle the toppings. Tasted very good. They have bottled Coke, my husbands favorite. I only had water so did not get a chance to try the coffee. As I was sitting at the table I looked down and found it to be very dirty. Now, I get it was later in the day so the empty creamer container on the floor may have been missed but the grime along the wall… I get it is old and cute but it could use a good deep clean once in a while. I hate to say it but if the front of the place is dirty, I don’t want to think about the kitchen. We will try this place again. I just hope they clean it up some.

I love a cute little family owned diner and I love a reasonably priced breakfast. It has all the usual diner appeal, coffee, daily specials, booths, folks reading the newspaper, regulars getting their«usual». The staff is nice, the place is clean and the food comes out quick. *They also have veggie sausage(as a vegetarian, it’s nice to see some options.)

Jamie and I ate breakfast here for the fort time in years, and it was a lovely experience. This is a family owned diner that has been thriving for decades, with the simple formula of great service, great food, and great prices. New to the menu was chicken and waffles, an all time breakfast fave of mine. This version was lovely, with crisply fried drumettes, a fluffy waffle with some crunch, and respectable syrup to meld it all together. Jamie got a veggie omelette, prepared thoughtfully with no overcooked brown spots, decent grits, and fluffy biscuits better then Barbec’s, in my book. We will be going back soon, as sure as an August day is hot.

The best breakfast in Dallas! Quaint place with a belly filling menu to make sure you’ll need to work out later! Staf is fantastic only to be topped by great food. This place makes breakfast the way it should be, good hot, filling and with a smile. It isn’t a large place, but I’ve never had to wait. Crowd seems to always be regulars. PLUS… great price. Better than the big places you have to wait in line!

My son and I come here every Friday morning for the breakfast special. This is a family-owned restaurant with incredibly friendly service, the greatest diner food in town, and incredibly affordable. Don’t be surprised if you spot a few regulars each time you come in. This place is a keeper!
