Ed Jenson’s Tree Service

I am so pleased with Ed Jenson’s Tree Service! I just moved to a street lined with deciduous trees and spent my first month raking enormous piles of leaves. All of my neighbors had already had their trees trimmed and recommended Ed to me. I also have a neglected, overgrown apple tree in the back yard and a weeping mulberry tree that Ed gave me advice on how to trim myself. Ed and his assistant came as scheduled this morning — in the rain, no less — and Ed himself climbed up and expertly trimmed the large tree in the front, removing large and small branches and leaving the tree looking wonderful. (Next fall should be so much easier!) When I returned from an appointment, they had trimmed the apple tree — and also the mulberry tree at no additional charge! They took away all of the debris and left the yard so clean, and the work was done in two hours. Best of all, the price was excellent! I highly recommend Ed Jenson for your tree service needs.

I gave Ed a call to remove an invasive tree that was growing into my home, and to remove a bush. I hired him based on the number of positive reviews he has here at Unilocal,but my experience with him was different than others’.
Ed drove out here to give me an estimate, and it’s clear when you meet him that he’s a nice person. We chatted for a bit, and he explained his plan: to chop the tree down and put enough chemicals on it to ensure that it would not grow back. During this meeting he also told me he would bring a load of chips on the day he came to cut the trees. I was so delighted about the chips because I’ve wanted to grow mushrooms, and decided finally to try my hand at it! Anyhow, after talking to Ed, I didn’t bother calling around for additional quotes –I wanted to business with him based on our meeting.
I explained to Ed that I was a late riser, but he wanted to start early (8:00 AM), so I set the alarm to be up by the time he arrived. He showed up over 45 minutes late, which, if we had scheduled the appointed time later, would not have bothered me at all, but that was 45 minutes longer I could have slept. Additionally, I had moved my truck to the street the night before so that he could get in and dump the chips down my drive, but he did not bring the chips like he said he would. He told me not to worry –that he would still bring the chips, just at a later time.
So the tree began coming down, and the branches were being dragged from my yard, so they could haul them off. Only instead of hauling the branches off, I looked out my window and saw Ed’s helper dumping my branches into my neighbor’s dumpster.
And then, all of a sudden, Ed and his helper were gone. I went outside to explore the situation… the tree and bush were gone. The chemicals, however, were NOT applied to the stump as agreed. Other than that?
Silence.
Nothing.
Nada.
Poof! They were gone. I thought, «Well, maybe they went to the hardware store to get the chemicals.» Then I thought, «Maybe it’s lunchtime.» But after a couple hours, I realized that Ed had simply left with the job unfinished. No «goodbye,» no «be back soon,» no request for payment, nothing.
So I called and it turns out that he had simply forgotten the chemicals. He told me he’d be back in an hour. So I wait an hour… but no Ed. Finally, I left a note on the door, explaining that I had to run errands. By the time I got home, he had returned and finished the job. To me, it looked good. Like, he did the work well and thoroughly.
About a week later I get a call from Ed. He wants to bring me chips. I set the time and date with him, and again moved my truck the night before so he can gain access. But again, he did NOT come. Mind you, this is a favor… he doesn’t HAVE to bring me anything. But then, this: if you say you’re going to do something, DO IT. If you say you’re going to be somewhere at a particular time, then BE THERE.
Another thing is that Ed refuses to communicate via email. Well, email is what works for ME (the customer). Partly, it’s the convenience of being able to communicate at a time of day that works for me. But it’s more than that. My email is how I keep track of what was actually agreed upon. So there is some record of what both parties thought sounded good. With a phone call, you have to rely on memory, and often people’s memories don’t match.
After the stump-​grinding guy came, I received another phone call from Ed requesting payment for the stump guy. During that phone call he said that he wanted to come over to measure my driveway so that he could bring chips. Yeah, uh-​huh. Right. I sent the check, and thankfully, we’re done.

We had Ed come out to take a look at a large fir tree which was overhanging and encroaching on to our deck. I was anxious about losing privacy but Ed reassured us that he could cut the tree down and trim the other few trees behind it while still protecting our view. And he did! The space is much more open by the deck but still enclosed on the property line between us and our neighbors. The man knows what he is doing! Trust his opinion — he can look at a space and know what the «after» will be. We are thrilled with the outcome and happy with the price.

I called Ed at the last minute because another company didn’t show up. I needed an estimate on two trees that had been identified in a home inspection report. Ed arrived at 8:00AM in Camas, WA and provided the report faster than fast. Above and beyond customer service! And on a Saturday morning to boot!

Scheduled the quote time easily, received a written estimate (which other guys did not do!) with the additional stump grinding option. We scheduled the appointment within a couple of days for the following week, and then received the additional (pleasant) surprise of him being available two days earlier than anticipated. He called to let us know he had finished a job quickly and could come over right then, which we cheerfully accepted, and had everything cut back and hauled out in short order. Thank you Ed, we will definitely refer any friends or neighbors looking for a good tree service. :)

Got an estimate, I called a few days later and talked to Ed to schedule. He said he would be there Friday. I asked him to call Thursday he said he would just be there Friday… he never showed of called.
Ed arrived Monday and did the work no problems. Not the hugest fan of using my tools without asking though.

Wow, great service, great price. I called on a Sunday to get an estimate on thinning out our 5 birch trees. He was at my house an hour later. Gave us a great price, came back the next day, job was done in a couple of hours. He is an artist, he has an eye for trees. I highly recommend!!!

I placed a call to Ed on a Friday and said I needed tree work done. (Little did he know we already had an estimate from Mr. Tree for almost $ 1000) The situation was a little weird because two of our oak trees came entangled in the neighbors trees during a storm. It was a situation where I would not have been able to do it on my own. The very next day Ed showed up to give us an estimate and it was $ 800 less than Mr. Tree and he said he could do it once he went home and grabbed his gear. So about an hour later he showed up and fell both those trees.
I do have to say though I did do the clean up myself which probably made it a bit cheaper but still…
To top it off my neighbors watched the trees come down and were so impressed with the price and work performed they had work done as well!
Ed is an outstanding arborist and you would be stupid not to go with him. He’s the real deal!

Ed gave us a great deal on trimming a big cedar tree in front of our house + removing medium sized nut tree on the side of our house. We were worried about the procedure as both trees were hovering the roof of the house, but after talking to Ed it was clear that he was an expert and there was nothing to worry about. Ed and his assistant were very efficient, they were done lot sooner than we expected. They also left the area super clean. As an extra bonus they also cut trimmed branches for us to be used for a firewood.

We had a tree come down in a recent storm and I needed to get the mess cleaned up. I had debated on renting a truck and trailer and spending the weekend dealing with it myself, but first I got a couple estimates just too see how much it would cost to have someone come and take away the tree. One local landscaper’s price was so high that I honestly felt that we were being taken advantage of. A friend in Sherwood recommended that I call Ed and see what he could do for us. Ed came out and gave me an estimate the next day after I called him. His price to clean up the tree mess was almost half of what the local landscaper wanted. I would definitely recommend his company to any of my friends. Great service and great price!

I trusted the Unilocal reviews and glad I did. Turns out that their primary family tree business is a pretty big outfit based in the SF Bay area. Ed has since turned that operation over to his son and moved up to Oregon for the great outdoors and fishing. The family business name, Elite Tree Service, was already taken in this area so he used his own name. So if you are unsure about using a small company (like I was) rest assured he knows what he is doing. Ed is a really nice guy, very fair pricing, and did a great job pruning my huge, 70+ year old Silver Maple street tree. I will call him first next time I need anything tree related.

My husband and I were very pleased with the work Edward Jenson performed while removing two large trees from our property. The Elite Tree Service and the Jenson name are well known in the Bay Area for quality tree work for many generations. Ed is professional, knowledgeable, and actually cares that his clients know what he did and the reasons why. He also tries to educate you on how to maintain your trees to ensure that they remain healthy. When he retired and moved to Oregon, his son became our tree person in California. When we heard he started another tree service in Oregon we were very happy to give our endorsement.

I have used Ed for many years and every time I am so happy. He is such an artist with trees and is so good at what he does. It is always a pleasure to meet with Ed and discuss what work needs to be done and then see it executed with such precision and care.

Our trees hadn’t been given any care in over 20 years. They desperately needed some attention and we didn’t know the first thing about how and where to start.
We had heard of this company from a friend so we looked them up and had them out to the house.
Wow, what a show! Ed was the one trimming the trees and we couldn’t stop watching, it was so impressive. He obviously knew exactly what he was doing and it became clear that he had years of experience with trees and how to trim them.
We even met his wife who was bringing him lunch and she was so nice. In fact they were both so friendly and easy to talk to that we all ended up having lunch together on the front porch.
All in all we were blown away by their professional skill and just good old fashion kindness.
