Precision Import Service

I was very pleased with quality of service that I received for my BMW. I knew better than to take my car to the dealership. Then when I was told what the repair would cost at Precision Import, I had no reason to mention that I first went to AutoScandia (closer to where I live), and they quoted me a much higher price, over $ 3,100 more to do the same exact repair! Plus, they charged me $ 100 to test the system! However, I knew what the going rate for this repair would be after reading the Bimmer Forum online, and that I wasn’t going to pay more than I should.
Nonetheless, I appreciated the honesty at Precision Import Service, and this is a good example of how it always pays to be an educated consumer, and get a second opinion, too! Also, when I was paying the bill, and after I asked for a discount, I was also given a choice – a senior discount or Unilocal discount. Thank you Precision Import Service!
The METRO is located walking distance from Precision Import Service, too, which makes leaving one’s car there for the day very convenient. Although, PIS does have a shuttle service to the METRO. The manager was cordial and the office area was very organized and neat. They were efficient, and I was able to make an appointment within a couple days. I would highly recommend this auto repair service.

I’ve been to Precision a few times for simple repairs, which went fine at first. Most recently I had a front headlight stop working on my Volvo XC70. I took it in to Precision, had a new bulb put in for about $ 65, but then it stopped working a few weeks later when I needed to get an inspection.
I was upset about this, as I felt my money had been wasted, and returned to the shop. This time I left the car for a few days while traveling out of town. I got a call from Steve saying the wiring was broken and an entire new headlight assembly was needed — total cost would be $ 646. I asked him to wait as I didn’t have this kind of money at the moment.
When I went to retrieve my car, I was charged $ 110 (one hour’s labor cost) for the workman’s taking off the bumper and looking at the headlight. I was kind of shocked, but paid it since I didn’t want to get into an argument at that time. In the last few days, I’ve been increasingly upset by this because I was not told that there might be a charge of this much up front like this if I didn’t choose to do the work right away… it’s particularly bad in this case because they had already charged me money for fixing the light once already, which turned out to fail within a few weeks (and not figuring out the real problem). I also highly doubt that taking off one bumper and headlight doesn’t take a whole hour, and consider the full hour charge ($ 110 being a high labor cost compared to some other stations in this area) to be way too much.
As things stand right now I would not use this store again, because I feel cheated, and will not recommend any of my friends to either. I think the owner should be clearer with clients about what they will be charged for up front. Despite the fact that the owner seems like a decent guy, and there may have been a misunderstanding in this case, I would not feel comfortable bringing my business to Precision again after this experience of spending $ 175 total and getting nothing except a still-​broken headlight.

My ’05 Mazda 3 was stalling at intersections after replacing the battery. The guys informed me that the electronic throttle body programming just needed some time to reprogram itself after a loss of power. Sent me on my way with no charge. They took the time to explain everything to me and didn’t bother selling me unnecessary fixes. I think I just found my mechanics for as long as I’m in the area.

I brought my Infiniti G37x in and they diagnosed it correctly. It turns out it was an electronic malfunction that Infiniti needs to correct that prevented the car from starting every now and then. I was worried it was the starter that needed to be replaced. But they saved me $ 750 from installing a new starter by pointing out something even the Infiniti techs didn’t catch. These guys know there stuff. They’re also very honest snd reputable. I go back to them each time I have car troubles and they never let me down.

Went in to get a funny noise in my car checked out. I had been to a different auto shop the day before who sent me home with a whole laundry list of problems totaling over $ 2800. Steve fixed the simple problem that had been causing the noise and sent me happily on my way.
I dropped it off the night before; Steve called me mid-​afternoon the next day to tell me the noise was coming from my front sway bar; they lubed it and the noise is now gone. When I ran through the other shop’s list, he assured me he hadn’t seen any of those problems except that my front brakes were getting a little on the low side but it wasn’t an immediate concern (the other shop tried to scare me saying they were «almost metal on metal»).
Honest guy who didn’t try to take advantage of a college-​aged female whose knowledge of cars comes from, well, pretty much Google. Since the lube was such a cheap and simple fix he wouldn’t take any payment for it. I am so grateful; Steve gave me back the peace of mind the other auto shop had taken away.
Recommend this shop if you’re looking for an honest mechanic who isn’t looking to empty your pockets.

Great service, quality people who are honest and really try to help you out. Their shop is a little hard to find since it’s a hole in the wall, but totally worth it!

These guys are what service is all about. The guys at this shop are honest and never try to up sell you anything. I brought in my car and they spent the whole day looking at it and at the end we concluded that the dealer would have to reprogram a module. Instead of still charging me for the service and labor he waived all fees and said since we didn’t resolve it I shouldn’t charge ya. In all my years I have never come across a mechanic like this and am humbled by there professionalism. I plan on giving them my business every time all the time.

I only give this place 4 stars because I didn’t end up fixing my car here, I would give 5 stars otherwise. I am reviewing for their superb customer service. I went to this establishment after seeing the good reviews in Unilocal also because it’s just about 5 minutes walk from where I live. I took my car in the morning for a diagnose and turned out I need major work on my front and rear brakes. I did more research and I was able to find a cheaper quote (At a place where my family have been going to for years, although I have to drive all the way to Maryland it’s worth the price cut). So I called Steve back and told him I was taking my car somewhere else but I offered to pay for the labor cost for the diagnosis. I came back to his shop to get my car and he told me there was no need to pay for the diagnosis labor, on top of that he gave me a detailed list of the issues with my car including cost for each parts and labor, also helpful advise. No bitterness because I didn’t end up using their service whatsoever. If you are looking for a guaranteed good service in the area, I would recommend this place.

Friendly fast service. I’ve taken my 2001 BMW 325 to Precision Import twice now. Both time I received good quotes and the work was completed on time.

Steve is a straight shooter. Good service, fast. I had a minor issue but the car has other known problems. He gave me a good quote. No up-​sell. And it was ready early.

Took my car to 2 other repair shops for an engine rumbling noise and could not be diagnosed. Thanks to Steve, Les and the rest of precision team they were able to fit me in last minute and correctly diagnose and fix my car for a very reasonable price. I have def found my new auto repair shop. Thanks again guys.

I agree with other that I felt the folks there are knowledgable and honest when I took my infinity g35 in to check the car break.

Thanks to Steve and John for a great experience. My daughters power steering was out and John took the car in for repair in the middle of a recent snow storm and had it repaired the next day just in time for her to return to college. They went through the car in detail and clearly explained the needed repairs. Great work!

This is the best mechanic I’ve been to. We have brought all of our cars here for years. They are extremely trustworthy and fair. Today our 2009 CRV wouldn’t start and we brought it in and they checked the electrical and ignition system. Nothing was wrong with the car and that’s what they told us. They said it might be the key. We tested both keys and it turns out it is one of the keys. Whenever our cars need work we go here.

As others have mentioned, I have found the guys at Precision to be very knowledgeable and honest.
I drove my car back and forth across the country for work that had me in Cali for a few months. When I got back to VA, I was going to go to my Lexus service center, for an oil change and to make sure that there wasn’t anything else that needed work, since I hadn’t taken her in for servicing in a while. I expected that they would «scare» me into having a bunch of unnecessary work done and didn’t feel like dealing with them after such a long trip. Based on the reviews, I decided to give Precision a try. I held my breath, but they told me that all I needed was an oil change and that everything else (including the tires) looked good. I couldn’t believe it.
Then, a few months later, there was this weird sound coming from my center console. It started when I got a new radio a few years ago, and has come and gone, but this time it was louder and constant. It wasn’t the radio, and I started to worry that it was a wiring problem (potentially a fire hazard). I took my car to Precision. Within seconds, my guy figured out that it was a blocked air vent, which he was able to fix immediately. Most shops would require me to leave my car and take hours to get back to me, likely saying it was something more serious that required more time/​money. Not Precision. 30 seconds and $ 0 later, I was on my way. I will never go anywhere else!

When I moved to this area, I searched on Unilocal for a good place to bring my Acura TSX for regular oil changes. I’ve had my car for 5.5 years and it’s been running really well without any issues but I like to keep it well maintained. Unfortunately, I don’t know too much about cars other than the basics so I try really hard to find places that hopefully won’t cheat me out of my money.
I went to this place after seeing the great Unilocal reviews and first brought it for an oil change in February. No problems. Came back this month (august) to get it changed again since it’s been 6 months. This time, they put a sticker telling me to come back in 3 months.
Ok, I don’t understand why it now says 3 months. For those who are well versed in car knowledge, feel free to educate me about this but I’ve read multiple websites where it says that oil changes usually last minimum 3k-​5k miles and I don’t think I need to change my oil 4 times a year.
My guess is that they realized I followed the original sticker and now they want to see if I will come back even sooner. Maybe this is me just being paranoid but it makes me hesitant to come back here.

Thank you Unilocal,I’m so glad I found a place to take my problem car! Unfortunately, I have a very high-​maintenance VW so I have been to Precision Import Service about 3 times in the last 2 months. They have always been very honest, fair and thorough with their work. I honestly have nothing bad to say! They always communicate with me every step of the way and when I pick up my car, they explain exactly what was wrong with it, what they did to fix, what parts were ordered, etc… not to mention they are friendly and professional and did I mention HONEST? Wonderful service!

I have nothing but good things to say about precision. Took my car here based on the reviews and I’m so glad I did. I am a 24 year old female and often struggle with finding a shop who doesn’t take advantage of the fact that I am clueless when it comes to the runnings of a vehicle. These gentleman gave me a fair price (literally 100’s less than the other 3 shops I visited) and were happy to break the price down for my husband and I (part, labor, etc.) When they noticed other issues, they were understanding when I told them I couldn’t afford to everything at once (I’m expecting!) and offered to break down everything by urgency and price so that I can have my car ready and safe for my baby when it arrives. THAT is amazing. These people care and will have you leaving feeling confident in the work done. BRAVO!

I am extremely happy with my experience at Precision. I found their service center by conducing a local Unilocal search. Although there weren’t any reviews, I choose Precision due to their proximity to the hotel I was staying at.
I was traveling through Dunn Lorring for business and needed to drive to South Georgia by the weekend. I brought my lemon of a «luxury» Audi Quattro A4 to their service center with what seemed to be a catastrophic engine issue, adding to the long list of issues I’ve had with this car in two-​years. Expecting the worst– cost, time, loss of transportation– I brought the car in with much trepidation.
Speaking with the owner and service manager, I left feeling a little better about the service. Based on our conversation, at least I was going to get the car back soon, regardless of what the issue was. They both speculated on what the issue was based on their experience, and promised a call within 24 – 48 hours with a diagnosis.
True to their word, I received the call. The owner explained the issue was the better assumption of the two extremes. They kept the car for another day to conduct more tests to confirm the repair was correct. I went to pick up the vehicle, only to drop the bill at site– $ 0.00. That’s right, they fixed the vehicle for no cost since the issue was simply a faulty engine coil. Needless to say I was shocked for many reasons. First, I assumed service centers charge customers based on our car naiveté. Second, I assumed regardless of how insignificant the issue was, the service center would find another, more expensive issue to charge me for. All of which were proven false.
I could not be happier about my experience at Precision Import. I wrote this review to inform my fellow naïve customers to rest assured the staff at Precision would conduct the professional service, and charge you the right price. I encourage anyone else with similar experiences to share their story to ensure their success.

I am relatively new to the area and was looking for a shop to get my oil changed and a strange noise investigated.
I wanted to take my car to a dealership as in the past, I’d had a great experience at my local Honda shop. But, after reading some less than favorable reviews about the area’s Honda dealers, I started looking elsewhere and found Precision Import Service.
These guys are honest and helpful. I got to select what type of oil to use – conventional, blend, or full-​synthetic – and was given advice on which type would be best for my car. I also had the strange noise investigated free-​of-​charge and was given a plan of action to remedy the problem.
The best part about this place is the people are just plain friendly and easy to deal with. I felt like I was having a conversation, not trying to haggle a deal. Maybe not the cheapest oil change I’ll ever get, but the pleasant experience and helpful advice is worth its weight in gold.
I’ll be back, just hopefully not soon though :)
