I order the number 14. Spicy kimchi pork. The broth was rich and very tasty. They had a bunch of sides to put on. Love the garlic chips. They noodles were firm not mushy. This was my first bowl of ramen on island and I was not disappointed!

Omg! Worst customer service at this place. It’s our first time trying their food as a visitor and the lady who gave our food threw the utensils and gave me only one napkin… cheap skate. Asian people here are so rude!!! Do not go here no matter how hungry you are… they don’t even understand when you speak English. Rude! Rude! Rude!

This is the best ramen. Very tasty. Try the pork, Kim Chee. Add the garlic chips and green onion and it’s a winner. Get the card and for every 10 you buy, you get a free one!!!

I love the gyoza here. The shell is thin and the stuffings are generous/tasty. They make the gyozas at their site — you can see it. When I saw that I had to try it. Most of places offer Frozen gyoza. They are so good and it’s $ 7.50 for seven pieces.

I eat here all the time and it’s delicious! Though, I’m really not that picky when it comes to ramen and udon, because I love it so much. The gyoza is amazing, as well

The cashier over charge on the order, ask for receipt and double check on your bills! The ramen tasted really bad, we will not be coming back again.

I had the char siu ramen with side order gyoza, this is the only thing i eat when i come here but its always consistent and always awesome. The gyoza are one of the best ive had. And they give you a per piece option when ordering side order gyoza

While trying to escape the frigid cold of my office, I was in need of something warm and delicious for lunch. Knowing that Gomatei take-out would’ve probably taken long, I stumbled over to the Makai Food Court for my ramen craving. I’d never had Naniwa-Ya Ramen before so seeing as this vendor was the first Ramen place I found i decided to purchase my warm bowl of Wakame from here. While waiting, you can see how prepared and efficient they are with their bowls and plate setup. The service and wait time took a lot less for me here than the other food vendors I happened to go to before(around 5 mins, which helps when you’re on lunch break and need to go back to work at a certain time). The Ramen was surprisingly tasty! Their broth is well-seasoned and enhanced by the roasted garlic they use. The portions are big, I had so much wakame to last me from start to finish. The noodles were good, although I just prefer my noodles more chewy but for food court ramen, I wasn’t complaining. For the price I’d say you get your money’s worth.

Loved the Spicy Beef. Beef melted in my mouth. Great taste, loved the roasted garlic. Can’t wait to go back.

Noodles are pretty good but the broth is a bit salty, char sui was quite tender but lacked some flavor. Given this is from a food court I opted to give a bit more credit.

Naniwa-Ya Ramen can be found at Ala Moana Center’s Food Court. I’ve eaten here a few times over the years. The ramen is decent but nothing that knocks your socks off. I usually get the regular miso ramen. Today I decided that I wanted to try the calamari miso. It wasn’t bad and they gave quite a few pieces of calamari. The calamari was tender and the noodles were perfect, not too soft and not too chewy. As always, the miso base was just too salty. I was getting a sodium high! I kept gulping down water. The one thing I like about this place is that they provide garlic chips. OMG, they’re so good! If you just eat it on the side and not put it in the soup base, it’s crispy. They have it with their condiments so you can take as much as you want. I always take a scoop full of it. I’ve also had their gyoza and it’s pretty good. It’s on the smaller side but very tasty. The person that I had lunch with got the pork yakisoba. I didn’t taste it but it looked good. It was a generous portion. She couldn’t finish it and had to ask for a take out box.

Wow, never thought this place was awesome. The broth was excellent. The spicy beef ramen is my favorite. The meet is disintegrating as you pick it up. What a joy was eating here… coming back!

Always fresh and super hot! The owner is so gracious, he had given me a free bowl after I realized I had no more credit when trying to swipe my card. I always order spicy beef ramen– no other ramen restaurant even serves beef ramen. My only critique would be to serve more lean pieces of beef cutlets(too much gristle/fat)!

Naniwa-Ya Ramen located in the food court at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. On chilly days or days when I feel under the weather and I am at the shopping center… here’s a place where I order my ramen. I always order the wonton ramen and occasionally the 5 piece gyoza. I come here a lot of times one of the employees asked if I was an employee of Ala Moana Shopping Center… I told her«No I am not an employee. I just got off of work this morning and decided to come to Honolulu for the morning instead of staying in Waianae.»(Yeah I used to work the graveyard shift at a 24 hour convenience store and gas station). The employee then gives me a business card at the time of my purchase. With each bowl purchased you receive 1 stamp. Collect 10 stamps and you receive 1 free menu item. There’s no cash value on the card and it can not be combined with any other offers. Besides the ramen bowl… customers can also order manapua, pork hash, or even yakisoba noodles. My next visit to Naniwa-Ya Ramen I will try the yakisoba noodles or one of the other ramen bowls.

This is one of many varietal food vendors in the Ala Moana Shopping Center food court. I was hungry for noodles, and this was the first place I came to. It was just okay. There are much better choices located out of the food court.

This review is for the spicy beef ramen for $ 10.90. Many reviews before me has commented on how it is expensive for food court food, how this broth is super oily, how the beef is fatty, stringy, yet tender. 1. You are in a super tourist trap setting of a food court. It is humid and hot in there no matter how high the air conditioning is on. The price tag is high because they’re in a heavily tourist location. You can go by car to a less crowded destination a mile away from the crowd and get ramen, but they might not have spicy beef ramen. 2. Spicy beef soup is made with the cheapest fatty cuts of meat. The broth is slow cooked for hours to render the fat in order to bring out that delicious beef flavor. In that slow cooking process, it also tenderize the meat. Hence, the stringy yet tender texture. It almost has a pulled pork, fall apart in your mouth experience. The oily glaze on top of the soup cannot be helped. Hot Chili oil is added to the soup to give the broth its signature heat. In addition, the portion you receive will have cuts of meat that has fat on them. It is a fast food joint and they will not go through the process of straining your broth through a cheese cloth to get rid of the excess fat. You want that clean no oil in your soup experience? Go to a sit down restaurant. 3. I did not experience long waits for my order of spicy beef ramen like other people did. My first visit was on a Saturday night at 7PM and again on a Tuesday afternoon, with friendly staff and receive my order within minutes of placing my order. My overall experience was wonderful. The spicy beef ramen here is comparable to the taiwanese beef noodle soup. If you ever have the chance to visit Taiwan. Try a bowl. It will blow your mind.

In this food court this is my favorite noodle place. Only because the yakisoba tastes exactly like you get it in Japan, Goza is very good too. Haven’t tried any of the ramens yet. It’s extremely hard to find places that make yakisoba that taste like the home land ! LOL Believe me ! I tried every Japanese fried noodles in town. And this is the BEST ! I noticed one thing today, they changed there noodle to a thiner type, and the goza is smaller. I know operating cost always go up. But he kept the price the same. Thats ok with me. As long as the taste is the same.

Located in the food court of Ala Moana Center, Naniwa-Ya Ramen offers ramen and homemade gyoza for quick and easy service. There’s something about Hawaii that just makes you want ramen. Sometimes, you just can’t resist the urge despite all of the other food vendors. It turned out to be a bad idea because the food court is in the basement of Ala Moana Center and with Hawaii’s hot and humid weather, a hot bowl of ramen just wasn’t smart. At Naniwa-Ya, the soup comes out piping hot. I started sweating just from the heat of the liquid alone. I ordered the spicy beef ramen which was flavorful but very oily. The meat used was tender but you could tell that they use cheap meat since there was a lot of fat and tendons attached. For the price, there are a lot of other better places for ramen — $ 9 for a bowl of ramen in a food court is steep to me. Had I known, I would have eaten at Shirokiya instead.

I am the ultimate ramen fanatic, so just trust me. ATMOSPHERE: This is a food court eatery so it’s take out only and lovely communal seating. The disposable ramen bowls are stacked in the prep area like building blocks and gives the image of being mass-produced and not freshly made FOOD: Shoyu ramen — OMG it was horrible. The bamboo shoots they topped the ramen with had a nasty plasticky taste and it bled into the entire dish. The noodles were cooked nicely but the flavor killed it. A bit overpriced at almost $ 9 for this tiny bowl. SERVICE: Everyone is friendly and eager for your business. OVERALL: Head over to Goma Tei for some authentic stuff. I’ve had better shoyu ramen from Walmart’s dry section.
