Got carpet done with Tompkins for a second time and couldn’t be happier. I know I got the best price and customer service was great. Rick was very helpful in showing us many options in our price range without pressuring us to get a something more expensive. The installers came on time and finished the job with no problems. I am very pleased with Tompkins and would recommend Rick to my friends. Super friendly and nice guy.

From the minute we walked in the door till the carpet was installed it was a great experience. Carissa was great explaining the material options and looking at the colors. They followed up with calls regarding installation schedule. The installers came on time and completed the job in the schedule promised. It even started to rain so they had to change the strategy to cut carpet and did what it took to finish the installation in one day which was critical for us as we had painters and other work being done the next day. I would recommend Tompkins to anyone that wants a seamless and enjoyable carpet buying experience.

I did my research for months and I decided to go with Tompkins Flooring in Irvine. They have a nice showroom with plenty of options. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I was greeted by Dave, he’s knowledgable and very professional. The next day he came by to take measurements and within a short time I had beautiful new carpet installed. «I LOVE it» I’m happy with the pricing, the look, and especially the feel of my brand new carpet. It’s plush, soft, and it makes my bedroom very cozy :) I recommend the upgraded padding, it’s pretty amazing!

I would highly recommend Tompkins as they have friendly, knowledgeable staff and they are not pushy, or going for a hard sell. Their store is pleasant and located in the strip mall, easy to find. We were replacing flooring in two small bathrooms and even though the job was small, they treated us as if we were doing our entire house. My salesman, was Rick Imler, was excellent, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Prices were competitive and the purchasing, and installation was seamless. Everything went very smoothly and the floors turned out really nice and I’m very pleased.

I am devastated with the job Tompkins did with my carpet. After the first day of install, I punctured my foot twice on nails sticking up through the carpet and my son scratched his foot on another nail. We came to discover that tacks stuck up through the carpet throughout the house. You had to stay to in the middle if you didn’t want to be injured. We immediately informed the owner, Jim and their installers. Their answer was that they sold us cheap, thin carpet and with their shoddy install we would just have to live with it. I now am afraid of tetanus, infection or injuries to my pets or kids. It is a nightmare. Other companies I have called about this said it should never have happened and that the install was very poorly done. Please don’t use this company.

I’ve used Tompkins Floring twice, with great results both times.
The first time, I was quickly greeted as I walked through the door. The salesman gave me many different samples of carpet to examine and was patient in explaining the many different options. We were able to schedule an time to measure my house for the next day. I was given an estimate at the end of the measurement, which was stuck to at the end of the project. The installation was super-​smooth, and the carpet itself is great!
Second time, I came in on a Monday and needed carpet installed by Friday. We picked a carpet, and they came to measure later that day. The carpet was installed on Thursday, and again it looked great.

I went to Tompkins looking for tile to install on the kitchen back splash. Shawna was very helpful in helping us pick out the tile. She lets us take home several sample boards of tile so we could get a perfect match. She then came by our house and did the measuring herself. The estimate she gave us was very reasonable and the work was completed within a week without any problems. In the future, Tompkins will be our first choice for flooring.

I needed to have the carpet replaced in a room, and the sales associate was very helpful in helping me choose the style and color, and did not try to upsell me on anything, but gave her honest opinion. She came over the very same day to take measurements, and the installers came a week later. The installation was very quick and professional and I could not ask for a better job. I almost want to install the carpet in 2 other rooms. Maybe next time.

Our installer, George, and his crew were outstanding. They removed old flooring in our entry/​hallway, closet, living/​dining room, kitchen, pantry, family room, laundry room and bath. They leveled the cement slab, applied a vapor barrier, installed porcelain tile using Grout Shield and completed by applying a 511 impregnator sealant.
We would use Tompkins Flooring again for future needs and highly recommend them.

Totally professional and courteous. Excellent workmanship by Marcos and his installers. My wife worked with Frank and he was very accommodating and helpful with her selections on tile and carpet. Highly recommended; they are the best.

We just had carpet installed in our 5 bdrm home. First Ric was so good in returning calls, messages and getting me info I requested excellent customer service. Next Marcos and his team of installers are outstanding. They are pleasant, polite, friendly quick and efficient. They do whatever it takes to get the job done. We have lots of really big furniture and they moved all of it no problem. Everything was put back exactly as I wanted and the house looked perfect when they were done. Thank you guys great job! If I ever need flooring of any kind again this is where I would definitely go.

Let me start by saying that we went to Home Depot first and actually got an estimate from them (which cost us $ 50).
Before moving forward with Home Depot, we thought we would walk into Tompkins and see if we could get a better deal there, and we are very glad that we did!!!
We worked with Rick, and he was extremely helpful, friendly, and patient with all our questions. He really knew his stuff and could answer every question we asked (as oppose to at Home Depot where we got blank stares from the workers!!). He was able to recommend a better carpet that would suit our needs (with kids, budget, etc.). We SAVED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS going with Tompkins Flooring over Home Depot… for the same job with BETTER carpet!
It took them only a day to install and we really couldn’t have been happier with the job that they did.
I was very impressed with the service, the job, the knowledge, and THE PRICE that we got from Tompkins and would recommend to anyone looking to replace carpet or any other flooring!

So impressed. In October we searched for carpeting — about 10 different stores. Lowe’s even took our money and came to measure, but 2 weeks later informed us the manufacture of the carpet we chose has stopped. Never refunded the charge for the measuring.
We finally located a great living room carpet at Tompkins. They were over to measure, and installed a short while later.
Fast forward to May, and the wood strip in one section came loose from the floor. I called the Irvine store, and within a few days Karen scheduled time for the repair.

We initially called Tompkins and spoke to Rick who was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. He accommodated and coordinated with our busy schedules to come out to our home to assess the situation after we had a flood from suddenly broken plumbing upstairs. Rick’s years of experience are evident by his sharing of knowledge around all the various products available, and pros and cons of each which is very helpful in making a decision on what to choose (since there are endless choices out there that can cause more confusion if left on your own) much easier than we expected, and provided samples to take home to check out with our décor. Once we decided what we wanted to go with he scheduled time for Marco and his crew to come out when we requested, and they did an awesome job spending the whole day here until the job was done. We had movers move most of the furniture to the garage except for the beds and some other odds and ends which the crew was very helpful with breaking down and putting back after the carpet was installed. So far we have found no problems with the job, and it looks beautiful. We are going to have to cut an ¹⁄₈^th to ¼″ off the bottom of most of the doors, but we kind of expected that would happen anyway. We would hire Tompkins again in a heartbeat, and would recommend them to friends and family.

We worked with Paul who was patient while we made our choices for wood and carpet, selecting new flooring you will have for many years is not easy. The secret to a job well done, like in everything, is in the execution, in this case installation. First they had to remove a tile floor, hard hard work, messy, but no other way to do it. When it came to installation of the wood floor, it was seamless. Two men working three days installed a beautiful floor for us covering more than 900 sq. ft. Could not happier.
They worked hard and clean and when they left at the end of their day, our home was livable. The wood installation crew who do most of Paul’s installations are simply the best. The day after they finished, a new pad and carpet was installed in one bedroom by a carpet crew. Again, as in the case of the wood installers, they moved furniture and cleaned up more than one should expect. Very very happy with their work from start to finish. Moving from No. Cal. to Irvine to a home we had purchased, we were faced with replacing floors long distance relying on telephone. We contacted Tompkins based on Unilocal reviews, along with two other flooring companies, to get bids. Having flown down to meet the contractors, each measured our home and reviewed our specs — hardwood, carpet, tile and vinyl tile.
Long story short, we found we had been bounced to two different contacts at Tompkins while trying to set up the appointment. The person who arrived was not the person with whom we had scheduled the appt on the phone. After measuring, he announced that he would be on vacation for several weeks. We received two other bids from the other vendors — one the same day. That was in October 2013. To this day, Tompkins has never gotten back to us.
With the work of relocating and coordinating with a number of other vendors, we did not have time for games or to follow up. This experience was very disappointing after all the positive press that caused us to contact Tompkins.

I really struggled here between a 3 and 4 star. I didn’t pick 4 because I can’t say exactly if I am a fan or not of Tompkins. If 4 represented something a little less than a fan, that’s what I would have picked. The sales guys was really helpful in explaining «all things carpets» to us as we were first time home buyers and had no clue about carpets. We came in 3 times trying to figure out what we wanted to make a decision. They even put carpet in a storage closet we hadn’t figured in our pricing and they didn’t charge us for it.
Where they lost stars was in the installation. I wasn’t here when they did it, I left that to my husband and that was my mistake. When I came back all I could focus on was the scratches and marks on my walls and floor moldings that they left. They were all painted just 2 weeks prior to the installation and I paid for it — so hence why it bothered me more. Should we have done the carpet before the paint? Was is the chicken or the egg first? I love my carpet selection, overall it looks good, but now I have to bring my painter back to touch up the work that they messed up throughout my whole 2^nd floor.
I guess if you’re as picky as me, be there when they do it and reiterate to «be careful».

We had a great experience with this company!
We were referred to them by our real estate agent as we just purchased our new home. I was somewhat skeptical at first but we also visited couple other places that were advertising «wholesale prices» and «sale» and Tompkins Flooring bit them all!
Their collection is extensive and I am sure there is something for everyone. I was very picky and particular about what I wanted. I always do a research when it comes to big investments and good carpet is not cheap. So, when we started carpet-​shopping I knew exactly what I want in terms of material, density, pile cut and so on.
We were allowed to take several samples home to test it out over few days which is a big plus, I think. In fact, the carpet we ended up purchasing was also picked by our dog)) I put on the floor several samples and out dog went by them all and lay down on the one she liked the most. Later turned out we liked that one the most as well))
The job was done beautifully, efficiently and in timely manner.
Overall, we are highly satisfied and shall we need another floor coverings (i hope not in the next 10 years :-) we will no doubt got to Tompkins!

We were trying to figure out what kind of flooring to get in our house and price shop. We ended up just getting our tile flooring through Tompkins. The salesman, Rick, was very helpful and knowledgeable. Be sure to ask for the lead time of when everything should be ordered, deposit paid, installed. We were on a time crunch so we had to have it done by a certain time. Since the first time pattern that we picked was not available because of the sale price and high demand we had to quickly pick another pattern so that we could have our tile installed on time.
When it came time to install they said that the installers would come between 8:30 — 9:30 am, but they didn’t show. We finally had to call the store and find out where the team was. Oops. There were no installers scheduled. They had to quickly put together an installer team and come to the house. Finally by 10:30 am they came to install the tile.
Everything was installed nicely and good thing there was an extra day padded to give for installation in case of some unforeseen difficulties because they did need the extra day. One of the guys stayed well pass quitting time and ended leaving the house about 9 or 10 pm, one day.
One thing they don’t warn you about is the mess that putting in new tiles makes. Because of the equipment, etc. there’s dust everywhere. Be prepared to get a good house cleaner to clean up the dust.
