I have used Garner A/​C for many years and have successful and polite service every time I have problems.
This past summer I came home one day after work and the A/​C had gone out and it was hot, Garner A/​C was there the next morning and had me up and running in no time.
As a Realtor I recommend them to all my clients.

The whole crew I dealt with at Garner Heating and AC were great. Very responsive, friendly, and respectful. And, I think their pricing is fair and reasonable.

I could not be more thankful for this company’s professionalism, timeliness and all-​around kindness. Our HVAC unit died on one of this year’s hottest August days. We bought our house almost two years ago, and when we bought it, we knew the HVAC unit was about to go. We were hoping it would breathe its last during that first year when we were completely covered under the buyer’s insurance policy. But, of course, it didn’t! The unit went out on a Sunday afternoon and I called a few companies first thing Monday morning. Karen Garner immediately answered the phone and lined up a time just a few hours from then that Doug, her husband, could come look at the unit. By the time Doug came, I had already had the unit looked over by another company and knew for sure there was no option but to replace the whole thing. I knew within minutes of talking to him that Doug was an honest man with excellent knowledge of these systems. When you are on a time limit to purchase a high cost item and have no idea what you’re getting into, what you really need is someone on your side who will make the best decisions for you, your pocket book, and your whole family. Doug is this man. If you want excellent service, a job well done, honest prices and some of the most friendly people you’ll meet, you would do well to go with Garner. You won’t be disappointed.

We have used this Company since moving to Hays Co in 1979. They have replaced our heater & A/​C unit in 2 of our homes. We were & are very satisfied both times. Very courteous & professional. Outstanding company. Jordan, Max, Ryan and Zach were awesome. Professional and courteous. They came for a service call and found major problems. A bid was prepared and we scheduled a new unit to be installed two days later. We did not even obtain a second bid because we felt what they prepared was fair and reasonable. Very highly recommend Garner.

I called Garner yesterday to check out our home in Buda. Karen answered and walked me through their options for doing a diagnostic or a full tune-​up (which was $ 126, a good price compared to a lot of others). We scheduled for the next morning.
Unfortunately it rained, but Karen called me first thing and worked with me to reschedule for a time later that morning.
Jordan called me when he was on his way and met me at the house. He and his assistant were thorough, checking all the vents, ducts, outside unit, and inside unit. He diagnosed the issue we were having and promptly added more refrigerant to our unit. All in all they were done in a little over an hour for a full tune up plus extra work.
I would highly recommend them if you’re in the Buda or Kyle area.

Firstly let me say that I think I’m pretty handy so when I got our ‘home automation and energy system’ with a new thermostat I was not worried, especially since it came with a manual. So three hours later not only do I not have the thermostat connected, I’ve managed to ‘break’ my air conditioner, nothing, nada, zilch, the sucker wouldn’t even turn on. I called Garner at 9am the next morning and Kelly scheduled Jordan and Ryan to meet me at the house at noon. Right on time they were, pleasant and polite young men. I told them what I had done and they told me what I broke and how I broke it. In the course of the repair it was discovered that we were doing a really good job of trying to blow up our 5year old air conditioner. Jordan took pictures of the problems, explained it in plain english and gave me a quote and a follow up appointment to fix my new issue. I’m actually looking forward to having them out for the follow up repair. I am very happy to say that I never have to shop for an AC company again. Local, family owned and operated, very courteous and honest employees. I can’t say enough. Thanks so much Jordan and Ryan, I’m very grateful for your help.

Details:
Had a capacitor go out on my air condenser. About a $ 25 part and 15 mins worth of labor. Called and got estimated $ 125-​$ 185 for the cost of the repair. I bit my tongue and accepted it since I could not find a capacitor locally and its been hitting 100 degrees this week.
Showed up within 2 hours of me calling, replaced it, peppered my lawn with some Freon because the valve got stuck when they removed their gauge and get slapped with a $ 275 invoice for the below items:
*Replace Capacitor
Sprayed JS685 (insect repellent)
Tightened Service Valves
Cleaned Condenser Coil (sprayed my unit with a garden hose)
The * represents the only thing that needed to be done. I don’t have issues with insects on my AC, condenser coil does not require a commercial company to clean, you can hose it down, which is what they seemingly did.
Service was good, but I am not a fan of businesses that tack on extra charges for minimal tasks that were not even requested, at a steep price mind you. Based on the quote of $ 125 to replace a capacitor, I paid $ 150 for them to spray some insect repellent (REALLY?) and spray my AC with a damn garden hose. Poor business practice in my eyes and will add these guys to my list of local companies that are out to make a quick $ off of homeowners that aren’t exactly sure what they are paying to have repaired in the first place. Regardless of what the individual costs were, $ 275 is simply outrageous to replace a $ 25 part that takes 15 minutes to do, adding extra tasks onto it to make that amount appear justified is just the nail in the coffin for this one.
Look else where if you’re not wanting to get robbed for quick service.

I called Karen at Garner Heating & Air yesterday after reading the reviews for this company. She originally scheduled Chad to come to my house today. My plumbing issue (dead sump pump). Chad called me several minutes after I got off the phone with Karen. He wanted to know if I had heat because he was willing to come over immediately if so.
I appreciated his concern SO much, but didn’t need immediate help. As it turned out, Max came to my house the next day. He was fantastic! He got me fixed up in no time and explained everything he was doing. I can’t speak highly enough of Max and this company.

After being bailed on by 2 other companied, I had sent a message to Garner AC after someone on Facebook was raving about them. Their website is a little goofy in the sense that if you send a message, it does not tell you that it sent it. I ended up calling them after hours and leaving a message. I got an email from Karen not more than 20 minutes after I sent the message. I had not expected to hear from them until the morning.
Doug called me this morning and discussed my problem. I appreciated the fact that he wanted to roll a truck out once to my house. I had 2 other companies come out and give me an estimate, so I knew roughly how much it was going to cost. He high balled the estimate without really looking at it. I understand without really examining the unit, there is not an easy way to just ball park it. Doug was very knowledgable. He knew how the houses in my neighborhood were built and their problems. He did try to meet me in the middle and did come down $ 100 on his price, which was still about $ 100 more than what I was told from the other 2 companies who were supposed to come out. For the price, I would almost be willing to do it myself since it was a straight shot to the return in the hall. I did check prices on materials for everything and it was less $ 75 for everything. I understand there is overhead with regards to a truck being sent out, gas, utilities, phone, electricity, etc.
On one hand, It would have been nice if he would have told me, «I will install the return for that price.» If it would have been a few dollars over, I would have been ok with that. On the other hand, I am glad he did not do that. It shows he is not going to cut corners just to take business. I am glad to know I have an AC company I can call and not going to get the run around and did keep their promise of contacting me. I will definitely keep these guys’ number on hand in case I do need AC work.

We have had a service contract with them since we purchased the home 10 years ago .

I had a problem with cooling one steamy fir night in the height of the summer heat. contacted them not expecting a service until mon morn but Karen returned the call within minutes and arranged to be at my home 8 am the following morning .

Arrived a little before 8 am fixed problem and no extra charge for emergency call. once again excellant service from this family run bisiness
