Amazing Smile Dentistry: Dr. Trina Chau

When I first called to make an appointment, it kept ringing and no one answered. I still attempted to call a second time and after the third time, someone answered. It was Dr. Chau herself. She kind of screamed «HELLLLOO?!» as if she was annoyed that I kept calling. I let her know I wanted to make an appointment for a cleaning. She seemed like she wanted to get me off the phone. Here’s how my appointment goes. I’m sitting in the dentist chair and Dr. Chau comes in to do my cleaning. I admit it’s been a while since I’ve gotten a cleaning. But she was very rough with my mouth. I felt like she was pulling my teeth out as she was cleaning the plaque. And she really rushed the whole process to get me out of there. She then asked if I had braces before and I did. She mentioned that it looked like my teeth moved and asked if I needed new retainers. I did because I didn’t even know where my old ones were. She offered to make me a new set of retainers so my teeth won’t move any more than they have. She explained that my dental insurance doesn’t cover any orthodontics so it would be the full price of $ 350. I told her I’d think about it and give them a call. After 6 months I was due for another cleaning, I really didn’t want to go back to Dr. Chau but I was like why not give her a second chance. Before my appointment, I actually found out that I was still covered under my old dental insurance as well so I called in and asked how much the retainers would be then. The receptionist asked for all the insurance information and said she was really busy and would call me back the next day. She called a week later. Was she that busy? I don’t think so. I think it was just something she put off and forgot about and then finally remembered. The price under my second insurance was reasonable to me ($ 175) so I agreed to get a new set at my next cleaning appointment. At this second appointment, I check in and I’m immediately asked to sign the agreement for the retainers saying that I agree to pay $ 175. I go in for my cleaning and it was not Dr. Chau it was another dentist so I was happy. This other dentist was really nice and she took her time to clean my teeth and she didn’t make me feel like my teeth were getting pulled out. It was time to do the mold for the retainers and guess who is doing the mold? Dr. Chau! She comes in and looks at the paperwork and I guess there seems to be an issue so she says she’s going be to back. The receptionist walks in with a new agreement form and says there was a mistake with the pricing. She says that the retainers are going to be the clear retainers so even with my insurance it’s still going to be $ 350. That was ridiculous to me. I haven’t had retainers in years so I automatically assumed they were going to be the wired retainers. I said give me the wired retainers if that’s going to be $ 175 because I didn’t care to have the clear ones I was just going to use them at night anyways. I also explained to her that this is the price that was agreed upon so it’s wrong for them to change it last minute. She says she’ll be back and she comes back saying that Dr. Chau said «they’ll find someone to do the clear retainers for that price» so its fine to still only pay $ 175. I was really annoyed at that point but still agreed to continue and Dr. Chau came back in to do the mold. First of all, I’ve had molds done before because I’ve had braces. This woman clearly did not know what she was doing. The mold was so full that it was almost going down my throat and choking me. I kept my head forward enough that I didn’t choke. And Dr. Chau got the mold all over her gloves and she was touching my face so it got ALL OVER my face. And she could not get the bottom mold right so she had to do it over 3 times and continued to get pieces of the mold all over my face. When I was finished, her assistant even helped me wipe it off. It was so much that I had to go to the bathroom and wash my face. That is not how you do a mold. That has never happened to me before. You do not put your hands all over someone’s face after you’ve touched the mold. After that, they tell me my retainers will be ready the next day for pick up. So after all that, I figured out that Dr. Chau was really just trying to get more money out of me by raising the price back up to $ 350 last minute. And that she wasn’t going to «find someone» to do it for the $ 175 price. I know they do the retainers themselves in the office because how else would it be ready the next day? She played me. Who knows if $ 175 was actually what I needed to pay. My insurance could have probably covered more but that was devious Dr. Chau was trying to get more money out of me. I was not in the mood to argue with them. I picked up my retainers the next day and vowed to never go there again. Horrible dentist. Do not go here, ever! If I could give her zero stars I would.

Finally I found a dentist that I can trust… The stuff talked to me like a normal person, they explained everything in plain English… They really worked with me to get my insurance to pay (my insurance fault) … They had to rent the paperwork multiple times till finally my insurance paid… The stuff where very friendly and understanding… Thank you.

Do NOT go to this dentist. If all you need is a dental cleaning, then maybe I would say it’s safe to go there. Maybe. However, if you are looking to get any sort of dental work done, I do not recommend going to Dr. Chau. I went in for a cleaning and was told I needed fillings, ok, cool. I have gotten a few of those done before, no big deal. Dr. Chau said some of my fillings were wearing down and she also said she wanted to thicken the bottoms of my two front teeth as they were slightly translucent and she was concerned about me becoming sensitive to hot and cold foods. There was nothing ever wrong with the length of my teeth and so it seemed like it would be a pretty simple process to me and I thought it would be a good idea being that I am in my mid 20’s and wanted to take preventive measures to dental problems in the future. Big mistake. On the day of my scheduled filling, everything seemed ok, nothing out of the ordinary. No serious discomfort or pain. At the end of the session when I looked at my teeth, my heart dropped. My two front teeth (cannot recall the names at this time) were not only uneven in length, but also in color and thickness. I told the office manager I was not satisfied and she was very kind about things and scheduled another appointment to address my concerns. I scheduled the next appointment for a week or two from the original date I had my fillings done and guess what happened? Part of the filling on my right front tooth (apologies again for not knowing the name) had chipped only a few days after having it done! I don’t know about you, but that has NEVER happened to me before. EVER. I should have known at that very point in time to not go back, but like an idiot, I did. Upon returning, I told the Dr. what I was unsatisfied with and wanted fixed. She was kind and seemed to understand and acknowledge the flaws in her work and began working on my teeth again. This time around, I got the feeling that she was rushing through my appointment and not really taking my concerns seriously, but instead just attempting to «fix» her mistakes very quickly and only because I complained. About 15 minutes later, she said she was done. Me not wanting to have to reschedule or leave unsatisfied asked for a mirror to check her work. Upon inspection, the original issues I had were still there! In fact, there was now a new issue! They were SLIGHTLY better, but still uneven, varied in thickness, and now the actual shape of the bottom of my two teeth were completely different! One was rounded and the other, squared. I calmly told and pointed put what was wrong to her in the mirror so that she could see what I was talking about. She said ok, and went in yet again… she was done about five minutes later. I checked again and it literally looked like nothing had been done but filing the bottoms of my teeth down again but they were still uneven in every way! I told her again… by this time, I’m assuming she had already planned on being done as she had another patient waiting and rushed through yet another failed attempt to fix what she had done to my once beautiful smile. I’m really not one to complain, and realize that slight imperfections are bound to happen once in a while and I accept that, HOWEVER, if the imperfections in her work were THAT obvious to me and members of my family, along with friends, I don’t understand how she can not even get close to fixing them! By the end of the last «attempt», for lack of better word, I pointed out yet AGAIN that those issues were still there, her response was for me to schedule another appointment. She then proceeded to excuse herself rather abruptly and move on to the next patient…
another appointment?! NO THANK YOU! I left that day extremely heartbroken, irritated, frustrated, and many other things. To add insult to injury, a couple months later, a tiny portion of the filling done on my left front tooth chipped. I take care of my teeth, don’t have bad dental hygiene at all, and am not rough with them. As previously stated, I have never had fillings chip on me before. Needless to say, I was livid. Save yourself the money, time, and disappointment and go elsewhere. That is precisely what I’m going to do now. As a dentist, you are assuming responsibility for maintaining and caring for your patients mouth, smile, and in a way, overall well being– a persons teeth and smile are often times what people notice first about an individual. If you cannot do something, be a PROFESSIONAL and refer your patient to a doctor who can or better yet, find another profession. The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because of the staff and due to the fact that the office was nice.
I went here because the office was in close proximity to my home and the reviews were good but after what happened to me, I had to let it be known. I am now insecure about my smile and don’t often show my teeth as a result. I cannot wait until I am able to feel confident again.

we finally found our dentist! great doctor great staff. average price… great service… and they really fix the problem without making a new problem like the other dentist I went before… and now I can really say I am completely satisfied with the experience.

I may be the biggest chicken ever when it comes to dentists-​so when I realized I would be needing to get upper dentures I was extremely apprehensive about getting my teeth pulled and the aftermath. I can now say that Dr Chau was exactly what her business is called AMAZING!!! I never experienced any pain associated with the extractions. I had a few issues after the teeth were pulled and the Dr came in on a Saturday in the evening to meet me. She went beyond what was expected and I will NEVER go anywhere else and recommend Dr Chau to anyone in need of her services. I also want to lavish praise on her receptionist Heidi who contacted me many times after my visit to make sure I was ok. I will always be indebted to her for her attention and genuine concern. In closing if you need a dentist and don’t go to Amazing Smile Dentistry then you are missing out on an amazing experience and two of the nicest people you will ever encounter not just in the dentist office but as individuals also.

My son is very afraid of dentist and I head that Dr. Chau was good with children. I took my son to Dr. Chau’s office. I didn’t have to wait but only five minutes to fill out paperwork. I got my son right back and he needed a filling. My son was scared and was screaming and Dr. Chau calmed him down and did an amazing job, and now my son always wants to get his teeth done by Dr. Chau!

Dr. Chau and her entire staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I had to schedule an appointment last minute for my fiancé and they were incredibly accommodating. She ended up needing to have a wisdom tooth removed, which Dr. Chau handled easily. My fiancé had no pain or complications after the procedure.
The office is incredibly modern and clean. The location is also very convenient (close to the 215) and there is plenty of parking. In addition to the friendly staff, I was particularly impressed with their technology (including digital x-​rays and electronic forms for new patients). I would highly recommend Dr. Chau and her staff to anyone looking for a dentist.

Dr. Trina Chau and her front office manager Linda put the word amazing in Amazing Smiles. I have never had such fast and efficient work done before providing nothing but professionalism as well as that special touch of knowing each and every one of their patients. This office treats each client/​patient like a family member not just a patient. I have been going here for about 6 years now and will never go anywhere else. this is my favorite dental office!

My sister and I have been patients of Dr. Chau for over 6 years. She’s very fast and good at what she does. My sister had her wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Chau without pain. I also referred my friend to Dr. Chau for a root canal and she said that Dr. Chau was very gentle. She said it was the best root canal she ever had. We never have to wait more than 10 min to be seen. Dr. Chau made it affordable to get our dental work done. We are grateful that we found Dr. Chau. I refer all my friends to her.

Dr. Chau makes you feel like family! I love the fact that when you are seen in her office you are greeted by your name, they don’t make you feel like a number… You get excellent care and concern from Dr. Chau and her staff.
If you are seeking the type of care where everybody knows what’s going on, and takes time to explain it you in great detail, look no further this is where you need to call! Dr. Chau and Amazing Smile staff are the best!!!

Dr. Chau is fast, professional and kind. I have been going here for the past several years and have had nothing but excellent care. In fact I had a cleaning today and was in and out in 15 minutes.
The front desk is kind and I have never had any sort of insurance or billing problems.
